That's an old hat with the tactical crowd
Some manufacturers have switched over to no melt no drip or fire retardant fabrics. Others refuse on the grounds that most fires a soldier will encounter aren't survivable anyway.

Physiclets don't know what wicking means and parrot it to no end, when that's not even really the point. The long and short of is is, getting wet or sweaty in polyester is fine. Getting wet or sweaty in cotton sucks.

Uh wrong, getting cotton clothing wet allows it to cool you down on hot days, polyester just makes you have heat stroke. You can tell me all kinds of science and facts about how I am wrong but whenever I wear polyester I am too hot when it's only 60 degrees and sometimes lower. Switching to cotton clothing helped a lot.

Meanwhile every competitive athlete in the world wears polyester. Maybe your polyester garment is not meant for warm weather. And in very warm weather you can get away with wearing pure cotton.

Polyester captures and keeps moisture inside, and it causes rashes and fungal infections in hot and possibly humid weather. Cotton absorbs moisture and allows it to evaporate later. Some people don't mind polyester and the like just because they live in the north, here we have 36 - 39 degrees Celsius summers with record temperatures of 44 C.
