Yeah, for a long time the Japanese demin brands were only making big boxy classic levis 501 fits. Outside of that you had apc, dior 21cm, 19cm etc and nudie also april 77 making drainpipes. Now there are countless options and plenty of more slim fitting stuff from the Japanese. I still don't think anyone has beat those classic dior cuts. Pic related dior homme 19cm

They have a zip I'm pretty sure

But yeah the reason I say 1966 is cos I think it's the first ones that don't have the rivets in the back pockets. So as they get older you don't need to worry about metal poking through which might rip your car seats and stuff lol. Plus the fit is nicer too imo, slightly loose in the top block while a bit more tapered around the ankle.

It can be helpful to compare the thigh and leg opening measurements to a pair of jeans you own to get a better idea of what the overall fit is like, that can help with sizing decisions.

The jeans from the eastern euro were a lucky ebay find, some guy with my exact build bought a pair, wore them once, either didn't like the fit or got to fat for them and then sold them on ebay for 1/4 what he paid for them. The guy that made them was running some istagram business that now seems defunct.
For the bob dongs their official store is on taobao, you can either order from there with a proxy service or using taobao's international shipping option or message ALs Store on aliexpress he has Rock Can Roll in every listing title and ask him to proxy something for you. He has some bob dong stuff listed but it hasn't been updated in a while so it's best to check their taobao store. The pair i got is one of their earlier productions and they look like they have only gotten better since then.

Anyway have you washed them already or just soaked them? Just wash inside out on hot setting for you washing machine, no spin cycle, wring em out with a towlel and hang dry for minimal color loss. Or if you aren't autistic just wash em hot, leave the pin cycle on and then hang dry.

Only thing that sucks about the us based denim stores is they get the export jeans that don't have back pocket stitching or red tags sewn into the back pocket. When people start retailing these Japanese repro jeans Levis sent out some threatened trademark infringement letters. I remember blue in greene actually ripping the back pocket stitching out themselves before shipping jeans to customers.

Just returned from Japan and bought a pair of black Momotaro tax free. I like the subtle pink inseam and classic stripes. Didn't have a pair of black nor Momotaro yet, despite having visited their shop in Kojima previously I had only ended up buying their dobby work shirt, which has been fantastic and is starting to fade itself. Main pair is N&F Hand Dyed Weft.

Also felt up the Oni Asphalt >>17561103 at Hinoya, which is a hilariously apt name for how incredibly rough they are, but would be curious to see the fabric worn down. I'd almost be more interested if it wasn't too late season for that much weight.

Where can a guy get some actually durable jeans anymore?
I got a few new pairs of Levis (505 i think?) recently for work, and after 1 week, the first pair had a hole in the crotch, after a month the second had a hole at the corner of the back pocket, and after 3 or 4 months another pair ripped from crotch to rear while squatting to put something heavy on a low shelf
Im not fat and my job isnt hard on them, just dirty.

>Imagine being forced to wear one pair of pants for the next 2-3 years for those epic fades, just so you can wear the same pair for another year to show off said cool fades before they fall apart on you.
To me thats kind of ridiculous, limiting yourself to the same pair of pants is fucking boring, I dont care how cool those fades look. And if you dont wear them every day then itll take a decade for them to look cool. Its almost anti-fashion to me.

I fell for the raw denim meme early on, but now I just get pre faded jeans that look just as good, if not better than a lot of 2+ year raw denim fades. This isnt the early 2000s anymore, prefaded jeans have gotten much better if you have the money to pay for it. The only time I can see raw denim being worth if is if you actually work some kind of manual labor job, in that case Id probably even get a high quality pair of my own. But I know most raw denim wearers are high schoolers/college kids/office slaves who probably get laughed at by their peers for wearing the same smelly jeans every day.

As long as you are buying sanfodized or pre shrunk/one wash jeans buying jeans online is pretty easy desu. Any good website should have the full measurement chart for each run of jeans they get in.
Just reference this measurement guide and compare to jeans you already have, it's not to hard to visualize the fit or find jeans that fit like ones you already have and like.

Ngl I used to have my reservations about heavy denim but after trying some 501 StF, I really want to go heavier. They are my first experience with heavier denim and I love the way they feel and the fit after shrinking. I'm due for a bonus in a couple months and I might spend some of it on a pair of IH 21oz jeans. 888s or 777s. Not sure yet. Probably thr 888s as they seem like a more refined version of shrunk 501s. I will post some detailed comments when they come in. I have a chore coat from their 101 line and it's made with some really cool woven fabric. Its ugly but that's another story.
The ones i ordered are Kaihara mills denim, so as long as they don't fuck up the construction or fit they should be solid. Of course since they are just using denim from the biggest selvage denim factory in japan they are competing directly with brands like naked and famous who come in at a slightly lower price point but i got em for half of msrp so that's fine.
They also have some pairs at the same price that are just listed as selvage with no origin, those are probably turkish denim or somewhere else equally unexciting. I probably wouldn't go for those.
Take a look around on ebay, they have done a few runs with Japanese denim including black denim, a greencast denim and 21oz denim, you can probably get some new with tags for a decent price on there.
They did a run in japan in the 90s of super accurate 1:1 reproductions of old models. You can find a few of those kicking around ebay still too, they look fantastic.

If you soak with detergent you gotta rinse em out afterwards, you don't want to leave detergent on them. At that point you might as well just wash them in the machine.
I find if you just do em in the machine with some kind of castile soap, no spin cycle, wring out with a towel and hang dry they don't really loose any color. I try to avoid regular detergent because it has enzymes and color brightening additives.
You can also just soak them in water and hand dry. Basically you want to wash the ballsweat out of them, it's the dried sweat combined with them demim staying damp constantly that makes the crotch blow out faster.
