Bleu de Chanel eau de parfum (Chanel) citrus fougère
Chanel’s greatest achievement is perhaps their miraculous ability to live
two separated-at-birth lives that do not intersect: one spent lounging in the
back of a long-wheelbase Bentley, the other hanging on to a ceiling strap in
the evening commute. Bleu de Chanel brings them perilously close
together, with a composition that borrows shamelessly from Cool Water and
Light Blue, yet manages to wrap all these bad-boy clichés in a disarming
cloud of refinement. If there is a masculine perfume that embodies the
symmetric aspirations of the poor and the spoiled, this is it. LT

Newfag here, last autumn I bought some frags as per the general's tips, really likedterre d'hermes; Dior homo got me the most head turns and compliments by zoomettes. Not looking for chick-magnet memes but I did enjoy the attention. Note that I live in a village-tier "town" and men here unironically wear axe body spray at most. Local frag stores don't exist. Fougere bengale vs Cuir cuba intense
I can get 50ml of fougere bengale for 70€ or cuir cuba intense 100ml for 100€, blind buy since no samples for either of those here. Looking for an intresting spring / summer scent.
I could also get Corsica Furiosa, Eau De Gloire, Mal-Aime instead, similiar price to fougere bengale, but based purely on note breakdown I feel like I would enjoy fougere bengale the most.

The fragrance I dislike the most from Parfum D'Empire is likely Fougere Bengale and while Mal-Aime is not as egregious, it is not far behind. Both have this incredibly herbaceous and aromatic profile that resembles curry/curry leaves, I don't know exactly what it is, I find that Maruyama has it too (and is the worst fragrance out of the three), perhaps Angelica or Camphor (what Parfum D'Empire have in their Hay accord perhaps?). I would personally avoid those two at all costs. Its a shame because in the deep drydown (only on a tester strip like a day later) you find that there's a beautiful fougere core to FB but the fragrance is ruined by this borderline comically stereotypical interpretation of "bengale" that is tacked on top, smells astringent, salty and like an indian restaurant, just terrible. If you do like all of this then good for you but personally I would never wear this or could see this worn by anyone at anytime. I find the positive reviews for it headscratching, I cannot imagine anyone having that shit as their signature/daily warm weather frag.

I wore it today and that's just what happened at the store so I wanted to give Tauer fans some props. Other than that I wear encre noire, terror & magnificence and a city on fire. I tried all 4 again. Fougere Bengale I stand by what I said 100%. Mal-Aime I take back what I said entirely, this is legitimately great and I don't know why I disliked it the first time I tried it (and hence never came back to it). All I remember is that it reminded me of Maruyama and I despise that fragrance so the aromatic face of Mal-Aime must have induced a PTSD flashback or some shit. Eau de Gloire I think is fantastic, incredibly rich and sophisticated but also light, a mix of bright and dark tones with a great anise and immortelle duality at its heart. Corsica Furiosa is not my speed, better than Fouger Bengale but it is incredibly earthy and dirty in the literal sense, behind that when you smell it more is a fantastic greenness but whenever I come back to it after giving it some time I get a facefull of dirt.

Examples of what I've tried and liked
Kouros

Musc Ravageur (not that musky)
Obsession

He's right tho, GIT is just an incomplete Cool Water but made with good ingredients and a bit more violet rather than the iris in the calone opening. Aventus Vintage had a masterpiece note of ambergris that was sadly chopped down every year until nothing was left.
>>17553974
Kurk has this notion to make something "unique" out of shit that was already common and available, even tried before. Narciso Rodriguez EDT has all its ingredients already available in stuff like Grey Flannel and girl musks yet it seems he was the only guy to try and mimic an artificial but strong wet earth scent with the ozonic violet and a earthy patchouli. Sounds so obvious but it is there.
Maybe his thing is not so much being original but being able to try and do it, kinda how the legend goes Fahrenheit was an accident despite its notes being an obvious concept (leather jacket, gasolinesque note, generic manly freshie profile = biker dude)

Trade fairs are basically guaranteed to be suit and possibly tie and everybody wears fragrances (unironically the only place where I've ever smelled someone wear L'Air du Desert Marocain and it was a woman). When visiting other companies, the bigger the company is the more likely it is that someone will be wearing something. Other than that, usually when I go shopping at the better places, although not always. You can, what's so girly about Dior poison anyways? That it's sweet and fruity?

If it was marketed towards men and was called Dior Radioactive Man, lot of guys would cream over it.

Dior Homme intense is mocked about being too feminine because "it smells like lipstick or make up" and I get it, those are beauty products used by women, so the association is clear. But fruits? Flowers? More and more male oriented fragrances are using rose or white florals as heart notes anyways these days. It's 99% marketing. Like yeah, wood and incense and strong base notes are traditionally considered masculine , but thats changing

It's 100% marketing

A strong "maybe"? If you want the miniatures for testing, you should get the 5 vial sample kit instead. >what's so girly about Dior poison anyways?
White florals/tuborose that gives a bitter very powdery scent akin to 60's/70's women makeup and talcums, incense and anise (or some other oriental thing in it) gives it another strong aromatic note that smells like old ladies' closet drawers or niche altar, some people call it "church" smell.
Then you have the fruits which are pungent due to being in between a funky cinnamon and an oily vanilla, along with a stale rose. It smells like a fine grandma.
>Radioactive Man
Why is that? because you got your sex change via chemo?
>That it's sweet and fruity?
Maybe Poison Girl but def not the real Poison, it's Opium but with white florals rather than spices.

>because "it smells like lipstick or make up"
>and I get it
You certainly don't get it because you insist upon making men wear it, they technically can but the classic western culture very closely associates it with THE makeup note, only shameless faggots would use it as a sign of pride
>More and more male oriented fragrances are using rose or white florals
More and more males are faggots, and faggots buy frags more often than normal men, what's your point? that penis is feminine because more city slicking males like it?
>It's 99% marketing
It is association via smell, if beer smelled like iris then for sure it would be a manly scent, but it isn't. Mind you i never said iris or white florals are bad (although i dislike the latter) but the brain works via past experiences and almost everyone has smelled their mom or their mother figure's bag and clothes, it smells like iris, some dude smelling like your mom's purse is bad news. Holy shit, nice trips
But almost all fragrances have chemicals in them, most notably pthalates, which are endocrine disruptors, they fuck with your testosterone.
In the last 50 years men's testosterone levels have dropped 50%, 1% a year. This is largely due to people using things with BPA plastics, things like non-stick cookware, and cosmetics with pthalates.
The research is pretty interesting. If you stop using pthalates, your T levels will rise, but if you have a kid while your T levels are low due to endocrine disruptors, your child will have a permanently lower testosterone.
It's thought that this could be a contributing factor to the rise of the alphabet people.
I'm switching. It's okay if I can't get all the niche kino shit, there's still great smelling frags that don't make me into a low test bitch, or I guess in my case turn me from a high T gentleman into a average T dude

Never seen that one, haven't smelled it so cannot say The apple is what makes it tricky because lime-mint-violet is pretty common as it is GIT/Cool Water territory.
By note count maybe, just maybe you can get by with Azzaro Chrome Aqua and Lagerfeld Paradise Bay, and just maybe because the lime/lemon got replaced with bergamot/grapefruit. The other options are Le Penguin Premium Blend but that replaces your apple with grapefruit, and Bentley Silverlake but that replaces the second fruit (apple/grapefruit) with pepper. YSL Y also supposedly has all your notes but also lots of other shit, so perhaps that can float your boat.
>better performance
From those i think only the Bentley one can do the job as Azzaro bottles are neutered, Lagerfeld stuff is gelded discounter box filler (sadly) and Ebin Penguino sacrifices performance for price.

As a side note seems like that grapefruit-apple-mint-violet is in several Jean-Claude Herault compositions which spikes my interests, seeing that he is the supposed successor of Pierre Bourdon.

Wrong except the citrus oils and that just depends on the part and maceration at the factory, for example lemon rind oil is very long lasting, same with bergamot, but oil based on macerated lime flesh then yeah that's going to turn in 10 years.
I have a "freshie" bottle that used oil of cilantro stems and it's performing as great after 14 years. Oakmoss also rarely turns unless exposed to retarded high temps and fluctuations.
