lots of nice Soviet era watches. see here: >>17537569
especially notable are the 2209 movement dress watches, which are very thin and rather common
other notable watches include:
>Raketa 24 hours watch (originally designed for a polar expedition so that they could tell if it's day or night)
>Raketa Calendar (interesting calendar complication for cheap)
>Raketa Big Zero (beware of fakes / redials)
>Raketa Copernicus
>Elektronika vintage digital watches
>Kirovskie Crab (someone posted one ITT)
>Volna watches with interesting dials (these are sometimes faked)
>Sputnik (the seconds hand shows the Soviet sputnik satelite orbiting around the earth. often faked)
>Luch One Hand

Jowissa, Delma, and Breil are also Swiss brands that are family owned.
D1 Milano is a pretty well known Micro
Dekla is a German brand that sources everything from Germany (instead of parts from China like most German brands)

I've worn my 36mm timex expedition watch a lot because it is extremely comfortable, but find myself gravitating toward my Casio WV58A-1AVCR because it is extremely accurate using radio time synchronization. This leads me to wonder if my dream watch exists.

A field watch or similar classic looking watch that: uses a quartz movement, is small (36mm would be ideal but 40mm max), is solar powered, has some kind of radio/GPS time synchronization, is titanium or at least stainless.
My budget is $500.

At the moment I'm looking at the Casio LCW-M300D-1AJF for around $180, but I think the LCD is ugly and hopefully I can get a watch under 43mm. There are some Citizen Eco-Drive models that fit what I want, but ~$450 seems like too much money a quartz watch and 40mm is still a bit larger than what I want. Also most of the citizen eco drive watches that have radio control are covered in tacticool dials that look ugly.

What's cool about the 16710 GMT is you can buy extra bezels and you're able to swap them out yourself if you're comfortable doing so. This means you could get a Pepsi/Coke/All-Black bezel and swap between when you feel like a change. The black bezel GMT essentially gives you the Sub but with an extra very useful complication

It was a boutique exclusive, fewer than 100 were ever produced. When they come to market now, the usually sell for about $150,000 USD.

This is a fake, here are the obvious tells without looking at the movement finishing:
1. It’s stainless steel, this model was only ever produced in white gold
2. The Maltese cross below the 12 is too flat, gen is more beveled.
3. The corners of the lugs are rounded off relative to gen, where they are very sharp. This is due to inferior factory tooling.

Was hoping someone would call it out.

how's servicing a micro-rotor movement? would it cost more than the watch like that meme chronograph Seagull?

>> No.17541358

I don't see how a movement with a micro-rotor would cost more to service than a chronograph. The latter is far more complicated.

>> No.17541359

>>17541358
I guess I worded the question badly, what I mean is "would it be worth servicing or would the service costs be too high for a 500$ watch, similar to how the Seagull is not worth sevicing?"
I have no experience with micro-rotors, especially obscure Chinese micro-rotors

>> No.17541362

>>17541359
Well having a micro rotor doesn't change all that much about the movement really. The question about servicing a $500 watch would be the same even if it had a regular rotor.

Yeah, slightly unusual effect if you look at it from specific angles that nobody will ever notice. Plus if your watch starts leaking oil you're going to have an oily watch until you fully disassemble it and clean it all out.
