Yes, but try it on first. (Ideally, wear it for a couple days.) Square/rectangular watches do not feel the same on the wrist as round watches and some people find them uncomfortable.

But apart from that, yeah, it's a great watch. It's actually quite versatile and dresses down pretty easily. It's not a pure dress watch like a gold Cartier Tank or Calatrava. It's very thin and light. It looks unusual so it gets a lot of compliments. It's extremely accurate as all JLCs are.

I once wore it daily for 5 months straight so it could be your only watch if it needed to be.

Bros I'm trying to find something like this but with manual winding. This seiko is close to being perfect just because of that.

Matte finish, cream dial, minutes and hours in Arabic numbers, day, date, under 40 mm, affordable, do you have any recommendations?

no, it was a local Polish auction site. eBay can be a little tricky for soviet watches, many of the watches there are frankenwatches, fake dials and other sus shit.
especially the poljot deluxe for some reason, but big zeros, sputniks and other popular models are faked too sometimes
if you want to get a soviet watch off ebay, then this is a decent catalogue of what all the factory versions looked like. if it's not on there, it's probably a frankenwatch:

Absolutely nothing on them is original, these quartz ones are literally counterfeits with random cheap quartz movements inside of them as opposed to the 5's and other mechs which are usually heavily Frankenised vintage shitters. >> No.17538394

The steel Reverso is one. Most of JLC's Master Control line is actually pretty versatile, in fact.
Some of the Cartier sports watches like the Santos or Pasha go with everything.
The Datejust is about the most versatile watch ever.

If you've got that Reverso then a good pairing with it would be a slimmer sports watch like maybe the Zenith Chronomaster Original.

The whole point is that the cutoff line is entirely arbitrary.

The idea of paying more for brand name to flex doesn't hold completely water because at some point manufacturing quality is superseded by engineering costs or handcrafting. Sure, there's a lot of brand name marketing stuff that goes into price, but when you're paying for a Sarpaneva or something, you're buying the hand-craft, not the industrialization.

To your point, though, yes, there are people who ignore everything else but price and brand name in order to flex. The dollar value cutoff point for that is dependent on the forum. On the high-end subforums on Watchuseek or something, it's going to be in the six figures (and probably multiple pieces). Here, it's probably about 5,000 USD.

That is, unfortunately, pretty subjective and also inextricably tied to price.

As an example, "Finishing" is a fun buzzword used around here, but it means different things depending on the method used and the degree of industrialization.
Rolex's finishing is entirely automated. No human touches most watches, the only assembly job done by hand at Rolex is gem setter (not movement jewels, but for the diamond dials and bezels, etc). Rolex's finishing is great and generally flawless.
Compare that to a HH/Independent brand. The finishing is done by hand. It's more intricate but there will be flaws, a missed spot here or there in a bridge's anglage, or perlage not perfectly spaced.

The HH's finishing is more ambitious and definitely more artful, but it's not perfect. The Rolex's is perfect, but also completely anonymous unless some flaw mistakenly made it through final QC.

You're not wrong, but I don't know what else they could do?
Copy the Swiss style? For better or worse, this is what German watches look like. Not everyone wants the original Glashuetter Lange/GO/GUB-style. (The history of the German watch industry is tangled and fascinating.)

They could try to do what the Japanese do and just put out a thousand chaotically over-styled watch designs per year and hope one of them is a hit with customers.

I think a lot of the hatred also comes from the fact that "HOMOS" has wormed its way into /wt/'s collective brain and "I don't like their case design" is partially a way to justify ex post facto a hatred that is mostly irrational.

Same. Even if I don't like it, I respect the Tangente for being faithful to the historic 1930's design, like how JLC and Cartier keep making Reversos and Tanks in the classic style.

I like the Club. I think it's a pretty neat-looking and very capable sports watch. The Ahoi is similarly cool-looking.
Their attempts at higher end stuff like the Lux and Lambda are pretty unimpressive for the price, even if the movements themselves are excellent.

I wouldn't call it a shitter: its a good quality watch, accurate time, and most people will call it attractive. I have a Casio white face watch that I don't hate, and a White Parnis but for some reason I just don't like white watches anymore but realize I have so many black and dark blue watches too. Disagree. I have an AD near me so I've been able to see the entire range in person. It looks the same in person as it does in pictures. Some of the ones with the colored dials may look a little darker or brighter in natural light.

The case finishing is all just simple high-polish, but it's well-done. No obvious waves or ripples. The dial printing is crisp. For the price, it's really well-executed. It's not going to be Lange quality, but it's only like 5% of the price.

But you compare it to a 1,500 dollar Seiko and it's much, much better.

I have too, that's why I'm telling you it looks like ass. The case looks like a child's toy. The crystal looks like it belongs on a much cheaper watch. Only the dial and hands look nice.

I don't know what seiko you're comparing it to but a cheap grand seiko mogs the shit out of a club in terms of F&F.

You must have had some interesting toys. Using a unified case and bezel is actually pretty interesting in terms of case construction when it comes to sports watches with 100m WR. It's something you usually see in dress watches.

There's no such thing as a fake 2813. They're all Chinese. There's no Swiss 2813. It's always been Chinese. Structurally, it's similar to an old Miyota 82xx from the 1970s, but it's not really a clone of that.
