Skanky, spicy and musky opening, dries down to a different, soft kind of woodiness. That transition is the strangest part in my opinion, from something offensive to many noses to something that would be office friendly.

Similar frags I'd say are Furyo by Bogart and to some degree, Lapidus Pour Homme. Though neither dry-down into anything as safe and inoffensive.

well i went ahead and purchased this from my local rack store. as you can see , it has 2 clearance mark downs on it, i suspect from being mislabeled and in the womens section. most guys dont venture over there (they are complete opposite sides of the store) and a woman might not be familiar with a mens line like this so not interested.

was disapointed in this initially because the intense blast of lemon up front is very lemon-pledgy, but i think thats due to the alcohol mixed in, after about 10 or 15 minites , the wood cuts through the citrus and it smells really nice. i havent smelled versace man eau fraiche. after lookin at some youtube reviews it seems the general consensus is that eau fraiche is awesome but chrome sport has way better longevity for a fraction of the cost while being about 85% similar

also, fuck this atomizer its terrible. i used to think it was retarded when youtubers "rate " atomizers because they always say the same shit, even if the spray is weak they always say, "not the best atomizer but it gets the job done". not here. this thing is like, you have to press on the very inside of the 'button' and push it exactly straight down or else it gets completely stuck and nothing comes out. when i get it to come out the sprsy is beyond pitiful, maybe doesnt sound like a big deal but not sure how much im putting on since i dont know how many mini sprays this pos puts out is equal to one spray from a normal atomizer. this bottle design is just terrible in my opinion, oh well , its the smell thst counts and maybe the sprayer will loosen over time.

My Beaufort London samples finally came in, and I gave some of them a try.

Terror and Magnificence has a really deep, gentle mix of smokey notes that I like a lot. You can smell the birch tar, smoke, tobacco and insense without each note overpowering the other. It'll probably be a bottle I pick up.

Vi et Armis, on the other hand, I find to be fairly repulsive. The spicy sweetness is cloying and doesn't work well with the very strong smoke aroma, in my opinion. Other's mileage may vary, but it's not for me.

I also got Couer de Noir and Iron Duke but I haven't tried them on for a long test yet. I definitely feel like I'll like Duke based on my first whiff.

Ty for reading my blog.

I couldn't even find better words to describe it, so I called it generic. The reality is it's shit. It's just that. I smelled it and I had smelled the same shit a million times in a million other cheapies. It immediately reminded me of Sun Men Lavender & Vetiver and they probably use the same cheap as shit aromachemicals. Legend Red is absolute and utter crap with zero inspiration, there's no art to its smell, it's overpriced because I can get the same smell even cheaper, it's been done a million times and it's just not interesting. It also doesn't last and doesn't perform, which means there are no redeeming qualities left.

Cheapies are not to be trusted with their notes. Often times they are only build around the "accords". I had better luck checking parfumo and fragrantica for similar fragrances to the ones I like and then testing those.

My preferred houses are still the designer houses with an in-house perfumer. I feel like they are the ones who put out a new "scent DNA" which then gets copied and/or "refined" by the faux-niche houses for a hefty markup, but you will still recognize the base signature as coming from a new designer creation. Besides that, I don't care much about houses (and neither should you). If I like a fragrance, I like a fragrance, no matter the house.

I got my Dior Fahrenheit clone - Milton Lloyd The Man Cobalt.

I don't understand how this thing became so popular. It's not disgusting but it's not something I imagine anyone wanting to smell like.
And I feel I'm even biased to like this because my parents had it in the house when I was very young and the scent is already familiar to me.

There's not a hint of sweetness or freshness, so no one will think you you smell nice or clean.

It's just... I don't know, almost like the scent you'd get when unboxing something, plastic and cardboard smell. What's the point?

I'm talking about the original, or in general the scent DNA.

The clone I got smells slightly different than the original if you have them both sprayed on you, but you'd be hard pressed to tell which is which.
Sprayed on paper, the original has a slightly sweet-ish scent (maybe lavender?) that I don't get from the clone (but I get that from the clone if I smell the sprayer).
Weird.

People online say it smells like vintage Fahrenheit and I could see that, this scent feels super familiar to me.

Did you really come in here and expect me to view the fragrance like someone uncultured? If you want to discuss fragrances that way, go straight to the fragrantica forum. Define blend quality while you're at it. How do I measure that objectively?
The smell can't really be described because it's nothing to describe. It's a "masculine cologne" smell. The note they call "clary sage" in Legend Red is found in many other fragrances of that type and sometimes also described as "lavender". It's some synthetic stuff and nothing natural. Once you've smelled a few similar cheapie fragrances, it becomes painfully obvious. Often mixed with "cedar" which doesn't smell like cedar or "vetiver" which doesn't smell like vetiver. In this case, it's mixed with "cedar", and it just doesn't create a great rendition of this copypaste formula.

It isn't, it's not philosophy it is a bunch of chemicals, it is subjective due to genes/nose and the memories behind those notes but we cannot anticipate them according to the anons that read our reviews.
Vetiver is not going to be old man's juice if some poor bastard never had old man figures near him or a dad to begin with, but we can say it's a green smell akin to dry soil covers like hay. Price? bang 50 for 100$, is the juice an alcohol cloud or does it open smoothly? yes no and that's it you fucking faggot, if you want poetry go to basenotes or kill yourselves, there's lots of useless info that in the end don't help anyone.

>>17521312
>Define blend quality while you're at it. How do I measure that objectively?
Approximations, by blend quality we mean how "smooth" a scent is, by smooth i mean how the notes come around, sometimes a juice will have notes with tons of contrast almost like fighting each other, for example Cool Water has that astringent lemon opening besides the powdery lavender and it's very rough and edgy, something like BdC EDP is smooth, no edges and the notes come softly around. The drydown can be the same described the same but it is rare one is such a wreck that it has to be noted, mostly our noses are used to it hence why we don't note it often.
>it's nothing to describe
Lack of knowledge
>Often mixed with "cedar" which doesn't smell like cedar
>sometimes also described as "lavender", synthetic stuff and nothing natural
That's it, you just described it, mainstream cheap parody interpretations of these notes which create a "clean" and "woody" profile that albeit smell masculine they come as not naturalistic at all.

>This isn't as challenging as I thought it would be, but it certainly does bring a dark state of mind. Not as dark as a field of some post-war story as some would assume from the notes and the descriptions by other reviews here. It does ruminate on this feeling of an austere "Drunk on Power". Not in an overt way, more like an old general or in here, A duke, ruminating on his glories of battles past, fathers and forefathers long gone - Their portraits and their tools of wars hung as ornaments, proud remembrance of honor passed down and for him, the duke, to look upon fondly as the guide to fuel his own achievements. Back on his foray of surrounding wilderness, to ponder what history he will make as a man, a lineage laid before him. To achieve as the ones before him did - with tobacco in his pipe and a glass of rum. In his castle, overlooking all over his domain.

you mean eau sauvage or sauvage? two different lines
when it comes to eau sauvage, the Parfum is very different to the original EDT to my nose. it's much heavier and sweeter. I think it might have some vanilla to it though it's not listed. it doesn't really have the refreshing characteristics of the original at all to my nose, it makes me think of lemon candy instead. I like it less, though it does last a lot better
the EDT is a really fresh citrus + green herbal and floral (jasmine) scent. smells great but the performance sucks, it doesn't project at all on my skin. might be better in the middle of summer if you sweat a lot
and the Extreme flanker I've tried some time ago but it's not bad, I think it's underrated. it's like a darker, more hefty version of the original with added lavender and upped herbal notes overall. I wonder if it was supposed to catch the Drakkar Noir wave cause it came out a bit after that and it does smell a bit like someone wanted to make the EDT but a little Drakkarish

Been reformulated too many times, nowadays smells like sweet tobacco with some fresh pachouli. Back in my days it smelled like neutral tobacco with sweet-ish pachouli and somewhat musky and tiny bit minty, oldfags say it smelled considerably more musky, oakmossy, pipe tobacco and fresh pachouli.
It has been turned more and more sweeter with less base notes overtime.

Try that thing in Fragrantica about searching by notes, you might find something although fougere is quite difficult due to all of them sharing the same things aside from that one note/accord that sets them apart from their 9001 listed shits. It's definitely a much sweeter fragrance than carnal flower.

>by the way what are you looking for lately? we seem to be searching for something similar

Hmm, not too sure myself either - mostly different florals (not tuberose or jasmine though): irises and roses. Want to sample the newest Bianchi, Aedes de Venustas fragrances, Le Mat by Mendittorosa. Also been wanting to sample fragrances by Divine for quite a while (L'Homme Sage and L'Homme de Cour). Also always up for something "easy" to wear for casual settings (been looking at Louis by The Zoo for a while now). Also the newest Nicolai is on my sampling list. So I guess florals and high quality aromatics - any suggestions?

Also, a small tip as you seem to be European: smellstories.be shop offer a nice deal of 10x 2ml samples when you order a gift card of 200 euro. I think this is the best "free samples"-offer you can get in EU, think I managed to squeeze free samples for ~100 euros when I did this.

if you wear a frag just because it reeks like hell and you want to feel special, you are just as pathetic. Keep lying to yourself about how much you love smelling like animal feces and piss. No one likes you and ultimately not even you like yourself.

I kinda agree but sadly i also know zoomers think aromatic soaps and bathroom cleaners are piss because they associate them with the bath even when it's wholly wrong.
Urinal cake with pee has some truth in it but it's taken into bad faith territory when an actual clean non-animalic fougere is called piss and feces because the zoom who smelled it associates it with pissing in fancy public bathrooms at his private school all his life.
It's a cultural thing, kinda how lavender is the smell of butt wipes in Europe

fougeres is my favourite type of frag, nothing pissy about most of them. But what smells like piss and shit, smells like piss and shit. Dated or not. I wear fragrance to smell good, to myself and possibly (but not mainly) to others, wearing fragrance to smell unique is also ok as long as it is pleasant. Wearing fragrance to smell bad is retarded.

Pine top note with a castoreum (animalic) drydown. Some people say it smells like vegetable or celery soup, and they are right that it has a very vegetal quality. To me it smells slightly smoky also. It's a very bracing sort of smell. Extremely distinguished.

Animalic scents were prized by royalty for millennia before the advent of modern perfumery.

yes, have you ever asked yourself why? Royalties washed themselves once or twice a year if at all, barely had soap and hygiene was not a thing. The only fragrance you can use when you smell like shit is even more potent smelling shit. These are all known facts.
>>17522993
if you can distinguish fecal and urinous qualities ina scent it means it smells like urine and feces, it has notes of urine and feces. Anyone sane in the head would now want something like that in their fragrance unless they are not detectabe. You smelly fuck.

Honey in large enough quantities/concentrations has a urinous quality, but is still recognisable as honey and widely considered to be pleasant. The skillful combination of these smells is the essence of fine perfumery.

As for the rest of your post, I think it's probably beneath me to address but well done for taking a community college medieval history class...

that would be the honey aromachemical, not honey itself, and you are moving the goalpost. Nobody cares if one note has some dirtiness in it, I am talking about fragrances that remind you of piss and shit. And I'm no sensible tiktok zoomy who finds anything pre-2005 offensive, when I say piss and shit I mean piss and shit. I think you are right. Also the tonka make it boring. I keep enjoying the herbal/medicinal opening, but the drydown is too tamed. Maybe with more incense it would work better...
Anyway, it was a perfect intro to perfumery and I use it some sundays to attend to Mass.
