Cerruti 1881 is a nice fresh chypre with florals a bit in the vein of Eau Sauvage (but with rose instead of jasmine and more green and less citrusy). Eau de Rochas is also somewhat similar. that being said if you like Eau Sauvage, just get Eau Sauvage

I have no facts to back this up but 2 things, because I had similar issues when I first got aventus:
1. after some time passes, it will smell more concentrated. I'm not sure if this is "maceration" or maybe the liquid isn't as homogenous (in other words, more water concentrated at the bottom initially). another thing: try and avoid spraying in front of your neck, in my experience it can help avoid noseblindness

What is a good versatile every day scent? I have a problem with finding one because I don't like 90% of what I'm sampling and the other 10% falls into either sweet heavy winter fragrances or summer freshies that last 5 minutes.

Joop at the store smelled like some sort of candy. On me it goes phases, but it settles on a fabric softener scent which is inoffensive and generally nice. I like how it smells on clothes, but it's just a nice-that-its-there scent, nothing more.

I also didn't understand how people compared it to Montblanc Individuel from smelling on strips, but wearing them both you see that they settle at a similar spot.

Dior Homme Sport is basically a refreshing lemon boosted with aldehydes (the squeaky clean washing powder type to my nose) and some ISO E super. it's simple but I liked it more than the normal DH 2020, it's more assertive and not as bland.
