Went to a trip to another department store and finally found some Tom Ford among other things, a highlight was testing the mythical Ombre Leather.
After so many positive reviews, favorable analogies and raving comments i have to say if you think this smells remotely like cowboy/southwest leather in boots and jackets or even fine italian leather works in clothing and accessories, you are a nigger, like immediately fucking kill yourself you disabled porch monkey.
This has nothing to do with said things and you have never in your pathetic little city slicking tax slave life have used a real leather item, this smells like the seats in an medium-range import car assembled by turks using poorly/overprocessed thin leather strips that were cleaned using shitty oil and left in front of the sun for a week. If you think that shit smells like an actual leather jacket made by rural workers or artisan boots that take weeks to do then i hope some odd looking fellow impales you for a while in purgatory after having killed yourself you piece of shit.

Now my arm has stank like the rubbery oily chimney feces whiff of a pretender brand new car's interior for 10 hours, i had experiences with overrated frags in the same trip but this takes the haitian mud cake for that. Just horrible as a leather frag for someone who knows real leather items, i do have to admit i admire that they went quite literal with the interpretation of cheap seats, perfectly portrayed and at least it's also not the smell of the softener stuff they put in skin when they are tanning it, which also smells like high hell.

By the way, you can use "ambroxan bombs" above 35 degrees. Few people here actually know what ambroxan smells like. As a hint, Molecule 02 is pure ambroxan in alcohol and that gets rated as a spring/summer daytime fragrance on fragrantica. Be mindful of that - many people here really have no fucking clue. Neither do most normal people, which leads me back around to the reason why I wear whatever I want in the summer. My friends did so during the hottest weeks last year. Each of them only owns a single bottle of whatever juice they've been using since highschool. Turns out some of their fragrances work really well in hot weather, especially the ones rated as "winter nighttime" fragrances. They don't care, because their brains don't know the marketing ploys made to extract more money from fragheads. They went into the store, sniffed some stuff and bought a single bottle at full retail price.

Not even the Dior store had it, and they had all the other fancy ones from Dior.

Very womanly floral smell, in the same vein of fancy cosmetics. I took a bath and it's still there so it is an excellent performer, it just has a shitty misleading name.

>>17497591
Ambroxan often gives real headaches in high heat and that's a fact, so shut your slophole you cumguzzling freak, ask the most experienced juice seller at your store and they will even put a stop into their shilling to say not to wear ambroxan in the middle of summer.
You can talk to women, right? also same goes for ambergris or some calone admixtures but in terms of skin pH, some people turn it into a fishy smell, for example many can't wear Bvlgari Aqva because they don't want to throw up after getting a wee whiff out of nowhere.

>> No.17497617

>>17497610
Never heard such a load of bullshit before. Fragrance-induced headaches do not exist outside of people who get actual migraines. It's entirely autosuggestion. People with migraine can get headaches (migraine type) from fragrances, people prone to regular headaches do not. It has been tested many times. I don't care about your marketing talk, you fucking potion seller. And yes, I can talk to people of any gender, even in the summer, and my girlfriend has zero problems with me wearing whatever the fuck I want in the summer. Now spare me your skin pH bullshit and people throwing up from a Bulgari frag. You got the bullshit stacked skyhigh there, chief. It's time to fucking stop.

>Very womanly floral smell, in the same vein of fancy cosmetics. I took a bath and it's still there so it is an excellent performer, it just has a shitty misleading name

It leans feminine after a few hours, the opening is rough and leathery but after that the jasmine takes control. It's a really popular fragrance among the masses for a reason , it has an edge but it's quite a safe scent for the most part.

Calm down bro, real rabid sounding there. If it works for you that's great, but what works for you might not work for others. My partner gets the sensation of a peppery scent whenever he gets a headache so pepper frags are out of question for me. And I doubt a sales rep would want to feel guilty for advocating for something that certain people would end up being sensitive to. It makes sense to lean towards a cautionary side. It's a consideration thing, not a fact type deal.

Kidding aside for once: Unironically go outside and meet people, talk to your local perfume vendors, ask your friends, if you really believe that doesn't exist we all have news for you.
Or buy a really cheap clone, pajeet-tier stuff, and see what happens other than skin irritation.

I have considered (a lot). Due to my work in quality control and auditing I meet a lot of people in a variety of environments, in a rather conservative industry. Fragrances are a staple as accessorizing can be hard otherwise (when going into production, most stuff like rings/watches aren't allowed and clothes are safety boots/vest, helmet and gaudy ear protection). People want to leave an impression with a scent and as a result I get to smell all kinds of stuff. Some play it safe, some don't, but most people wear the same stuff all the time. Their single bottle of whatever, during summer, winter, in the climate controlled office and under protective clothing in a warm production environment. So do my friends. None of them knows what a "winter" fragrance is. To some of them, something like Stronger With You is a revelation and they will wear that to the beach on their holidays. It's the one thing which made me realize that in reality you can wear whatever whenever. Turns out "normal" people do not care, simple as.

You ignored the part about autosuggestion. People associated a headache with a fragrance once and as a result they feel discomfort upon smelling it again. People read it on the fragrantica comments and then it happens to them. In a controlled environment, it doesn't happen. Plenty of studies out there testing migraine- and headache-prone people for their reaction to fragrances (both in terms of perfumes as well as smelly smells like trash and what not). I have no reason to believe fragrantica comments more than studies and I never have met anyone getting a headache from fragrances. I have met plenty of people and as I have said before, my friends care EVEN LESS. They'd wear Naxos to a pool party.
When it comes to skin pH, the more appropriate explanation is still nose difference. Fragrances do not smell the same to people. Some smell iso-e super as a nice woody scent, some get pencil shavings, some are anosmic to it. I get pencil shavings from iso-e, but I can't smell Molecule 01 (for example). There are many molecules like that out there. People want to associate to skin pH what is easily explained by not being able to perceive things in the same way as others. It's hard to test for that, though.

Seems like i need a very woody frag to complete my intended top 4/5 bottles for daily use, any recs?

Want something along the lines of strong cedar, pine and/or fir, maybe some earthy hints too, no sweet shit. Something aromatic and perhaps spicy, i like vetiver frags but they usually don't go along these lines as they intend for freshness rather than warmness. Also don't want noticeable incense, don't want it to be oriental although i do like stuff like Opium.

So far have found Givenchy Gentleman Boisee but seems most people hate the performance, Cartier Santos is excellent but a friend uses it so don't want to snatch it.
Fragrantica throws Encre Noire by Lalique and Wonderwood by Comme des Garcons, charts say Terre D' Hermes but many claim the orange/citrus is more notable than the earth or wood tones. Was heavily recommended Cartier Declaration along with appearing in the chart, i disliked it along with all its flankers.

> I feel like I'm just wasting time trying to find something that I will love as much as this
Yeah I know I already have several favorites but it's fun to keep trying new smells. It's not about finding something I'll want to keep using, more just about the process. Like listening to a variety of music and building your own playlist. Sometimes it's nice to just cycle through your favorites but usually I want to try new music. 95% of it I won't like and 5% I'll keep to come back to when I don't feel like exploring.
Except unlike music, fragrances do cost money and take up space. So that's a consideration.

Yeah of course , Its fun to try new stuff and the excitement is there and when you find something that smells great it's a nice rush of dopamine but damn. The closest thing to a perfect fragrance I've found is au Coeur du desert, and still, Dior Homme Intense is pure immediate pleasure , on a totally different league. It doesn't need any artifices or unique features , it just works so well. Simple yet perfect.

Will perfume prevent me from smelling bad? I sweat a lot and I just want something to smell "fresh". My gf gave some kind of baby cologne that I use but I'm tired of the smell and its smell is irritating (I just spray it everywhere on me).

After my first blindbuy, I was basically cured from blindbuying. So the closest I've gotten was Salvatore Ferragamo Uomo Signature. I tested the regular Uomo and I liked it, but it was a bit too sweet. I wanted the same in less sweet and found out that Uomo Signature exists. They had no bottles of that at the store. So I blindbought it and it was as good as expected.

Sauvage has been successfully cloned to death.

If you have to ask if something is "worth the money", which means you care about 100-200-300 at ALL, then no it's not worth it and you should get a clone.

Personal recommendation, Verset Island if you're in Europe - performs amazingly and I'm hard pressed to tell the difference between the two. But also there's a ton of other clones or similar fragrances, just google around.

Nevermind, just realized I have an actual blindbuy that was good. Cuba Prestige. I ordered something and needed a few bucks extra for free shipping, so I basically paid the price for shipping to get an extra frag. I opted to get the 4.95€ Cuba Prestige to save 4.95€ on shipping. It's supposedly a clone of A*Men, but I have no clue what that smells like. Prestige is a very chocolat-y patchouli gourmand frag with a strong tobacco opening. Wish it would have stayed on that opening, but it got sweeter in the drydown and lost a lot of that tobacco. If you can ever get this stuff to save on shipping (or don't mind spending that fiver), toss it into your order.

"kaszebsczi mech" is great if you like classic chypres. has a great, very natural smelling fresh "forest floor" opening, then some dry tobbaco and oakmoss notes peek through that and the drydown has a surprising amount of musk to it. performance is very good.
some review said it was similar to Eau Sauvage, but I didn't get that. it reminded me more of Pour Monsieur maybe, but a bit heavier, much better peformance and with that slightly animalic musk.
if that sounds like something you'd definitely like then I think it's worth a blind buy, at least if he makes another batch since it's sold out right now

the vetiver one was much less impressive to me, especially considering it's almost twice the price. basically just a simple vetiver, of the smoky earthy and nutty category, not green or soapy. it's fine, smells good but not that special
