/btg/ BOOT GENERAL - WOOL, LEATHER AND COTTON EDITION

What do I need to care for my boots?
>Old cotton t shirt (one for cleaning, another for applying conditioners)
>Horsehair brush ($10-15)
>Wooden shoe trees ($10-15)
>Light conditioner like Lexol/Bck4/renovateur
>Heavy conditioner (if you live in terrible snow/rain areas) Sno seal/Obernauf LP
>Don't forget that boots need time to dry properly, rotate them and don't wear them daily for too long

How do I deal with x stain?
>mud: allow it to dry then brush off
>salt: water and cloth as soon as possible
>saturated wet: allow the boot to dry for a full day, stuff with newspaper
>scuffs and scratches: buff vigorously with horsehair brush

>Should I buy turdsdays/soloshits/doc shitans?
No they are filled with synthetic materials aimed at instant comfort but will not hold up to actual use.
>b-b-but muh ecelebs on youtube said they're good
no. you will waste your time and money and still have uncomfortable footwear at the end of the day. spend the extra $100 and get something real.

Manufacturer Red Flags
>Luxury
>Sustainable
>Vegan
>Unknown leather source
>Made in Chyna/Mexico/Indonesia

Boot Red Flags
>Dainite
>C*rk/C*lastic

It's not waterproof but it is water resistant a good amount. If you wear it in the rain the raindrops just roll right off. You'd have to get pretty soaked for it to penetrate through
But the wax does wear off over time so it looses that water resistance. Usually 2 years is when people recommend rewaxing one and mine is at 1.5 so I'll probably do it later this year
One thing to note, mine is unlined and if I could do it over again I'd get a lined one. Waxed canvas is cold against the skin when you first put it on and it isn't much fun to wear when it's colder than 50F because it's not lined. With a lining you can go much colder and be fine. I use it mainly as a spring/fall jacket as a result unless I'm layering with a thick flannel underneath

Speaking of waxed canvas, I'm tempted by these. I like that the leather is brown instead of black since I could just buy jungle boots if I wanted that.

A few weeks ago I asked about boots in Tokyo.

I'm guessing most of you guys know about Tricker's which is what one of you suggested..
What I want to know is if any of you are aware of the collaborations Tricker's does, or rather, I guess Tricker's "makes"(?) boots for other brand names to sell/distribute.
In East Asia, particularly in Japan and South Korea, QUILP seems to be one of these distributors(?).

The prices are almost exactly the same - above 500 sterling, and with import fees in Japan, this goes up to 600-800 brand new.
Everything else is the same too, from the handwritten size and model numbers inside the shoe, to the blue box and everything inside the packaging.
The only difference is that, these models/styles are exclusive to these distributors.

Question is, does the quality(build and materials) take a huge hit?
I was thinking that maybe these "collaborations" are Tricker's B-stock which they don't want to put on their own shelves.

Insole-wise, instead of a hard piece of something, they instead use a piece of leather same as the lining, which is supported by a piece of foam underneath. That piece of leather underneath your foot is stitched to the lining proper.

In my experience, TLB Artista lasts are narrow in the heel and wide in the front if you ask for extra width.
And Alden also has heels that are two sizes narrower than the actual shoe width (the different widths are actually marked on the insole)

Okay, sure. Well, first of all, let's break down the question logically. The question posits that purposefully walking into a puddle is illogical. And on the surface, that may seem like a reasonable assumption. After all, why would anyone want to get their feet wet?

But here's the thing: not all decisions are based solely on logic. Sometimes, we make choices based on emotion, impulse, or even just for the sake of having fun. It's possible that walking into a puddle might bring a moment of joy, or a feeling of freedom, or a sense of adventure.

Now, does that mean it's always the right choice? Of course not. As with any decision, there are potential consequences to consider. You might end up with soggy shoes or even catch a cold. But ultimately, the decision to walk into a puddle or not should be based on a variety of factors, not just pure logic.

I want to finally give my MPs a good clean this week. I previously would use *Renapur leather balsam* but that definitely darkens and I don't particularly want that. I was thinking of getting the following products

- Horsehair brush (actually, I already own this)
- Saddle soap
- Kaps Shoe Polish Applicator Brush
- Bickmore Bick 4 Leather Conditioner

So I guess I'll *clean* the boots with the saddle soap and shoe polish brush, then apply the bick 4. How does that sound? Or is it all just reddit memes and I shouldn't get all that shit?
