I mean it's not like Vacheron was particularly fancy at the time, it was just a watch.

I imagine he would get something gifted to him since he always gets free shit, and he would probably keep the one with the most weight in gold for the same reason gypsies wear gold earrings.

Are we talking young corto or old corto, keep in mind I haven't read much not in English and it's sparing. I can peg his cigarette and pipe tobac in an instant, putting a watch on his wrist is heresy. Had he one, it would be fresh and funky and 3 would exist in the world right now.

I've heard of people quitting smoking altogether with spirits simply because how how dense each cig is and the intensely high nicotine due to the leaf-only and denser rolling. Kinda like instead of drinking 4 really shit weak coffees being replaced with 1 single super strong shot in the morning to skip "needing" the drug of caffeine or nicotine which are chemically similar.

Given however that is with the fastidious and complicated clothing, it'd need to be a dressy and very formal watch, but not pretentious.

A watch is first and foremost for the wearer a constant & reliable personal companion. You wouldn't rely on others to approve of your best friends, would you? The same goes for functional accessories. If you have a strong connection with it and it performs its job admirably, then everything else is extraneous. Price tag scales with function & materials & arguably aesthetic to a degree, so it's justified as long as you personally place fair value on whatever amount you've spent.

If you were the one hunting for the deals, I would've recommended something that's ostentatious normie-bait, like a Rolex or a higher-end Omega or even a fake Patek.

As an office body, I truly think you need to buy what speaks to you. Your job relies heavily on precision and forecast, in which case I think a GS vibes strongly. Check out the Rolex store and others too. You're in London proper, you can look at everything before you buy.

They're all different, the case and dial in particular, the movement also. All three would work with a suit, but the cheapest one is the most appropriate as it's black and restrained. All three would work very well in a casual setting. The Lake Suwa one is the best looker out of all three in my opinion, also has the best movement. You can clearly afford all three so there really is no reason not to go for the most expensive one, it's objectively the best and the quality is there, you probably wouldn't be disappointed. But there is nothing wrong with the other two. My advice would be you go to a boutique and try them out, that way you'll know for sure which one suits you the best, and maybe you'll find something else that you like as well.

genuine question: is there a point to a $100 watch? isn't it gonna break in like a month, if it's even accurate/functional in the first place?

The teal one. I can see where they were going with the green one (bamboo) but i think it's a bit too fresh for me, it would be hard to pair with clothes. I personally prefer more subtle stuff, picrel is one of my favorites.

They're better than automatics that cost twice as much. More of the cost goes into the case and quartz designs are pretty bulletproof and often use self lubricating plastics that need zero maintenance.

I used to laugh at this crown until I bought one. They're very comfy and well built watch.
