Arc'teryx shells are impenetrable. They're used in the most extreme climates and are a Canadian brand. I swear by them. Wear a base merino wool layer and then an insulating layer and you will laugh in your clam-shell hood as everything nature throws at you beads away like astroglide down your stepdad's back.

canada goose is legit arctic wear, but there's no reason to be wearing it in any of canada's cities. they're all too far south.

I live in Vancouver Canada as well and it never gets cold enough that you would need a Canada Goose jacket. It rains more often than it get cold. I wear a sherpa jacket and a t-shirt and it's enough for me.

Fast forward a few years later and I sold it to some fob for more than I paid after realizing that it is unironically not worth it if you live in Toronto. I have the OVO Beige one, and ended up reselling it for $2.1k CAD because it was lusted after like crazy.

The quality is top notch, but so are most other Canadian brands when it comes to decent winter jackets. Hell, I use my current parka, which is a Y-3 Gore-Tex Parka, when I go up north to Thunder Bay. It's literally not an issue unless you are trekking or are a part of some expedition team.
