For me, it's the DW 8000. The best gshock watch. I even ask for extra light and the watch is so friendly and more than willing to oblige.

One time I asked for light and a buffalo skull appeared. I said, "Wow, time to get tough!" and the nice friendly DW 8000 lit up and read, "Time to get Tough".

Now the watch greets me with "Time to get Tough" and ALWAYS give me light. It's such a fun and cool accessory with my current outfits, I wear it at least 3 times a week for hitting the gym and going on a run, 1-2 times for casual fits on the weekend, and maybe once for dressing up when I'm in a rush but want a great watch that is stylish, tough, and can resist shocks.

I even dip my DW 8000 in the ocean, it's water resistant! What a great watch.

Not at the moment, I need to pare down my collection if anything. But I've always wanted a Speedy and aside from the date cutout this is one of the better arranged sub-40mm automatic Speedys I've come across. Kinda reminds me of a Longines Spirit chrono but toned down a bit, in a good way.

Always figured I didn't have the wrist for one, but I tried on the 3861 model and it's damn compact. I like oddities though, helps scratch my contrarian itch even when I'm looking at a watch as popular as the Speedmaster.

>> No.17475714

>>17475709
The reason the 3861 is compact is the endlink design, as well as the midcase being slightly shorter than the previous 1861 midcase. It definitely wears easily, and the bracelet with taper wears well too.

Oddities are great though; just be sure you get one in decent shape, and have a watchmaker open it up upon delivery to verify that it's legit.

Nothing wrong with the Speedy pro though...I own 2, and they're awesome dailies.

you are putting words in my mouth which I never said

if we are comparing vintage watches and the original sale price vs current price what it should be vs inflation included compared to cars and which have increased more relatively, idk, maybe its not so bad in watches after all

regardless, pointless comparsion, a top of the line sports car of the past was never a work horse shitter car of the times compared to now

a old school rolex was quite literally a modern day seiko/gshock in comparision, they were quite literally, shitters, in the past

now a days, you are paying ludicrous premiums for past shitters, modern rolexes are way more though, as they are luxury watches now, they were shitters in the past

thats the whole point

which solidifies the cucky part

a rare sports car in really good condition, idk, not the same in comparison at all

correct me if im wrong

you are comparing a bog standard old rolex shitter to a unique sale, you could compare some shit like paul newmans daytona or some shit like that in terms of exclusivity, but that was not my point at all

honestly, I'd go for the old version with the better backlight. there is something about that old-school glow that really seals the deal for me. the new backlight is just a little led in the corner and it's nowhere near as good imo.
I have this watch and I wear it every day. I love it. I have several other watches, a few mechanical watches, but I always come back to this one. I feel like the aesthetics are perfect. I love the red around the dial.
it just looks so 80's and I'm so very happy that my grail watch is so cheap and I own it and now I don't worry about watches anymore because I already have the best one :D

are you retarded? it doesn't have the red on the dial, it's got the heavier screw down back, and the module is made of stainless steel so it's heavier than the plastic modules in other models.
everything about this watch is more premium down to the material on the strap.

I really wish there was a version of this watch with the same colours as the 5610. I love that retro design. or even better if they made one that had the same design as the original. that pop of red on the 5610 really pushes it over the edge for me, but I want the premium materials.

I was looking at getting one of these but was sort of put off by what people say about the ticking. I don't mind ticking, I sleep with a fairly loud quartz clock on my bedside table, but is it loud enough that other people would hear? I have some slightly autistic requirements for a watch strap. It has to fit 22mm lugs and be unpadded, leather (shitty leather is still okay), brown with tan/white boxed stitching, ideally be between 2-3mm thick, and have a silver buckle (ideally brushed).

Kind of like a hybrid between these two, as the one on the left has an unpadded strap but has open stitching, while the one on the right has a padded strap but boxed stitching.

Does anyone ever seen something that'd fit this bill?

A couple months ago I struck up a conversation with a guy because he was wearing a Zenith El Primero. I've had people start talking to me about watches based on something I'm wearing. It's really not that unusual, it's just that 99.9% of people aren't watch people.

Holy shit I do not fucking care. Say nice bike and fuck right off.

If some balding dork with facial hair wants to chat me up about my watch I'll make the same small talk and appear to want to get away from him. Just say nice watch, and fuck off. At worse, nice watch, what is it I'd like to get one myself and politely go away.

If a chick uses it as an opener she's not interested in watches. Change the conversation and keep her interested in you, not your gay little "time piece". Depends how deep the scratch or gouge is. If its a light scratch yeah something lightly abrasive in a paste like polywatch should work. If the gouge is bad you have to remove all of the undamaged material down to the depth of the scratch evenly. Theres a lot of videos on youtube that include using polywatch on a non-sapphire crystal, even with a badly scratched crystal it can 'improve' it and with light scratches it can make it nearly new again so you don't have to fully replace it and disassemble the watch.

On the other hand, its a $21 watch, I wouldn't recommend spending $7 on polywatch and probably an hour working on the watch. Just buy a new one and use the scratched one as a hard beater you no longer care about.

I know, its ended relationships, ended friendships, prevented me from being happy, and enjoying many things in life. On more than 1 occasion I've wondered if being a socially retarded autist would pay me disability for the rest of my life. I hate work and get super bored easily.

You ever sat in a quiet room and pressed your watches to your ear to see which one ticks the loudest and quietest? I have. I hate myself and am terribly lonely.

Yeah, I mean, you're probably right. That one just especially bothers me because I got the scratch almost immediately after buying it, so it feels a little wasteful buying a new one. I figured it wouldn't hurt to have something on hand in case I scratch another one of my watches as well (I have quite a few Casios).

Right there with ya man, I have a casio analog quarts I fell in love with and now theres a scratch on it and its no longer made. I know I could improve the scratch with polywatch but fuck it, its a cheap watch almost not worth the price to replace the battery but I do like it still because of how plain and simple it is along with 36mm. Its wasteful but whaty'a gonna do ?spend a bunch of time and effort to still have a damaged watch?

This is really not my experience at all, especially if I'm wearing something a little off the beaten path like JLC. I'm more than happy to talk watches with random people for a few minutes. If I saw someone wearing one of my dream watches I'd have to make a comment if only because their opinion is worth 100 shitty "watch journalism" reviews since they actually paid for the damn thing.

I have about $16,500 left in student loans and about $15,000 in savings. By the time Joe's forgiveness plan gets tossed out in court I should have somewhere in the neighborhood of $18,000 with which I'll pay everything off in one go.

The thing is, I kind of want to buy a pantydropper and I figure I could get a decent Rollie, maybe something like a Datejust, for around that much. But that would leave me with nothing left to pay off my loans.

What should I do? Is it worth it? I don't make a lot of money but I make enough to get by OK.

Just had one of these (SUR309P1) in the store for a battery change.

Here's what I don't like about it: seems there's a weight stuck on the caseback for the watch to feel heftier, because it only has one of those puny quartz movements.

Just a heads up that even Seiko is doing this now with their poorfag (this is maybe a 250€ watch) models.

The unique hands were the selling point for me actually, combined with the story behind them.

>When Soviet Raketa designers created the Copernicus model, they had the following idea in mind: the big circle (minute hand) symbolises the Earth, and the intermediary circle (hour hand) symbolises Jupiter. Why? Because the Earth orbits the sun in 1 year and Jupiter in 12 years: exactly the same ratio as between the minute hand (big circle) that “orbits” the dial in 1 hour and the hour hand (intermediary circle) that “orbits” the dial in 12 hours.

What are you? The watch police? Let him sell fakes, if you're so fucking dumb you think a $20,000 watch selling for $140 is normal then you deserve the fake. Some people just want the general look of the high end watches because of the general shape, not because it has heritage, and it was made by some swissman after hand filing brass gears and certifying its accurate to within 2 seconds a year. Granted, $140 is probably $100 too much, but regardless, let people direct the industry with their wallet. They're clearly fakes and knockoffs, homages/replicas. Basically you're upset a chinaman is selling cheap shit. Theres a reason all the cheap knockoff garbage comes from china and they build industries and factories every day because people keep buying it.
