So how far up the wrist and how tight are you suppose to wear a fucking watch?

I was watching this amateur porn clip with an extremely fat hairy ugly chick who was being blowbanged by basically her bf's entire friend group, who were all fat black guys and white trasn construction workers, and there's this guy with hands like shovels trying to fit his tiny dick in her mouth under his massive beer belly, he's got warts and calouses on his hands like he's been driving a jackhammer all his life, and he's wearing an Omega Seamaster 300 with the big triangle and a date window. Really makes you think.

You, we all saw what happened the /LuxWT/ thread it just devolved into dickswinging about who knew more about how the economy works so clearly it's not a larp as literally only richfags could be that boring, you should have so many interesting watches in your collection it honestly boggles the mind that money is all you have to talk about in a watch thread

If you can't just post watches, pick somewhere else to have your class based hissy fit at each other.

At first glance I thought “my grandpa would love this.” The watch looked dated to me.

I stared at it for a while and it reminded me of the way Renaissance-era art and old TV shows make me feel: yeah it’s dated but it’s beautiful and we just don’t as a society create anything beautiful the same way as before. What are some good triple calendars? I like the JLC because you also get moon phase and the jumping date at 6 so that the pointer date doesn't block the moon phase. So you get 5 complications from a really nice brand all for 2/3 the price of the VC triple calendar which is my next favorite one and doesn't have moon phase or the jumping date but the movement on the inside is way better finished and hand wound which makes the watch slimmer. The two things I don't like about the jlc are the case shape, which is boring not bad or good, and the machine finishing on the movement.

>> No.17447236

>>17447211
With triple calendars you won't find anything better than JLC at that price rage and even a bit higher. You could find something more akin to your taste, but that is totally relative. What is sure to be adviced is that, unless you're planning to wear that watch everyday, you should try to avoid calendar complications with manual winding, as it's a nuisance that you'll certainly be in the need of a winder, but to no avail.

Yes, "open heart" watches were a disgrace. You should either go
1. Full skeleton, but only if it's excellently well made. (Patek Philippe)
2. Exploded view with none or tiny dial (Greubel Forsey, Breguet or AP)
3. Visible tourbillon's cage and bridge (A. Lange & Söhne)
4. Solid dial (obviously)

Nah Santos' sell pretty cheap second hand - I bought a WSSA0010 rather than the current ref. WSSA0029 since it's a couple years older and sells for like 2/3 of retail.

Case, dial, hands & crystal were on point.

Good thing is I've owned a WSSA0029 before so was instantly sussed out when some things felt a tiny bit off like clasp click, crown shape & movement winding feel - took the back off and there it was, a miyota 9015 with a Cartier rotor.

eBay's money back guarantee sorts you out on these things instantly if you catch it early enough - just bummed I didn't scoop myself a deal.

They were supposed to check. That’s absolutely fucked my man. I would have never noticed something like that, I usually spot fakes by the finishing, numerals, rehaut, etc.

My story was blasting out my wallet when I first had some kind of money on an omega white market. I spent as much as this Lange costs and it hurts. Make fun of me if you must, but no amount of clowning could exceed the suffering I already feel.

chiming in on this, what does chrono24s "authenticity guarantee" even mean? It's on every listing as far as I understand and some are clearly fake. iirc they hold your money in escrow as a buyer until you receive the watch and give the okay but I’m not sure.

I only bought watches in person. I need to get a feel for a person, I inspect it, bring a loupe, take it to a jeweler, whatever it takes. I am very paranoid.

With that said, some watches are higher risk than others: Rolex, AP, Cartier, etc.

Basically it’s like this: if the watch is valuable, very desirable, requires less finishing or intricacies, and has a closed case back it’s ideal for reproduction. The guys who make the best reproductions of watches are legitimately talented watchmakers. Some of the Rolexes which are fakes these days have it down to a science with perfect font, rehaut, weight, etc. that you could very easily miss it as a fake if you don’t take off the caseback. No one is going to fake a Lange because it is the opposite of everything I described. If you want to buy a popular or even hyped watch you absolutely need to do the research and be very careful. They say trust the seller but the truth is the seller could not be trying to be malicious and unknowingly send you an indistinguishable copy.

If it’s not in my hands, I didn’t do the research and and I am not beyond all doubt there’s not even a chance I would buy an expensive watch.

>> No.17447600

>>17447598
Properly fake a Lange that is. There are fakes but I refuse to believe it would be believable in person with where reproductions are now but I also think that they will achieve this level of replication accuracy sooner than later.

>> No.17447628

>>17447598
understandable, what I meant is that they put this "authenticity guarantee" into every listing, which doesn't mean that you should trust the watch to be authentic.
The transactions are safe, though, can't complain. I'll also add that the box and papers provide some additional safety (as in: less risk of a stolen watch), but of course you can get an original box and some blank papers as a criminal and fill the details.
