Non watch people have the wrong idea about WR. You buy a watch with "overkill" WR not because you're going scuba diving the day you buy it, but because you don't want to worry about destroying it when you procrastinated on getting it serviced and it's 6 years overdue and you get caught in a downpour

That said, the screw down part is not what makes it water resistant per se, that just protects the stem from getting banged around which can bend it and cause the gasket to no longer seal. It's not unlike a crown guard or a recessed crown.

Really just depends on the watch. Camille Fournet is as far as I know the absolute best of the best and it doesn’t make sense to pay for one to put on a $2k Longines shitter, but if you’re wearing a $10k JLC or $30k Patek then you might as well go for it. The customizability aspect is pretty desirable as well since lots of watches these days ship with straps that have questionable designs. Also if you order a strap from a manufacturer that uses Fournet straps, you’ll get raked across the coals and charged 3-4x what you’d pay if you bought direct.

someone talk me out of buying a $5 watch of ali. I'm a leaf but even after finding a model I like It's way too much fucking work to find somewhere it's not already sold out.

Other option is to just walk into a store and pick something up but honestly I just need something passable for the future date I don't yet have and I think one of the generic minimalistic ones can get me through a couple nights.

I have the dark blue (almost a grey) dial version. I get compliments from normies about it all the time. They don't really care or notice that it is a quartz. Easily the best money ive spent on a watch - imo it looks vastly more expensive than it is. I cant decide between getting the mint one or the mechanical version, seeing as I already have a quartz. But you can't go wrong with the mint.

extremely wealthy watch enthusiast friend once jokingly referred to it as a "fake AP". at fancy events or business meetings I usually wear something a bit less eye-catching, like a dress watch.

It's one of the best looking G-Shocks. The timers are amazing but I hate not having the current time in all modes. The buttons are also a bitch to press, some oldfags even boiled the resin to make the buttons easier to press. The dual illuminator looks fantastic and it's a shame they don't put that feature on newer G-Shocks. Without a dual illuminator you have no idea what the charge level or alarms are in the dark on models like the GW-M5610U or the GW-6900. It's a medium sized watch for a G-Shock so I wouldn't recommend it for small wrists. Not the most comfortable but wearable. It's has been discontinued for a while but there is plenty of stock left.

tldr: kinda outdated but some better features not present on modern G-shocks and looks great

If you want a small watch you can get an F91W. It's smaller than most mechanicals. For shock protection G-Shock has a floating design which makes the case bigger. The resin bezel also makes it more durable and larger. The models in the "man" series like Mudman and Frogman are designed to be used in environments where people are wearing gloves so the buttons are large and the bezel is bigger. A square G-Shock is about the size of a modern mechanical.

Yah for me the two tone SS and black sub are 10k-12k watches for my own valuation I don’t know or care too much what they go for these days but it’s less. It’s a weak flex to have a Rolex to me in general but it’s better than reading a shit post without any picture whatsoever.

Good choice on the NATO, I'd probably do the exact same. The gold on the bezel itself looks great but the bracelet gold looks a bit tacky to me.

>Also if you do a little digging you can get it for around 12ish last I checked maybe even lower, sometimes new.
I might grab it off Chrono24, is that site any good? I've never bought a used watch before in all honesty, I've never known where to go since getting scammed on watches is a distinct possibility.

>> No.17425121

>>17425114
The nato does dress it down but you could even get the same watch without the flashy strap. Sometimes I feel it’s tacky and sometimes I feel like I miss it so I wear the bracelet seasonally.

eBay actually inspects their watches, Jomashop is known to be reliable, and Chrono24 I have never used but they hold the money you pay in escrow as a protection + it depends on the seller.

With all that said, this watch is too obscure to have much of a chance of many reps of it. Making a believable rep is a serious production so they generally only get their ROI if there will be many buyers think AP Royal oak or most stainless Rolex. You would be just fine, I had the same thoughts as you and paid retail at a shop for peace of mind since I was brand new and finally had enough money to buy my first “real watch”. My taste is very different now but I will keep this watch anyway because of the memories of it.

TLDR you should be fine. It also has a clear caseback for you to evaluate the finishing.
