That type of movement is called electric or tuning fork not quartz. Idk about their battery capabilities I've had the same battery in mine for about 3 years and has run like a champ. Omega and Titus(?) make a similar movement as well. And the movement is smoother than automatic actually, highly recommended if you want a unique budget watch

It's called a chronograph (or a stopwatch) and a mechanical one from a 'reputable' brand will set you back at least 2000$, and one from a reputable brand 5000$ or more. You can buy one from a semi-reputable chinese brand (lots of people like it, but reliability is so so) for around 200$. Quartz ones are starting at around 200$ and up.

When I first got into watches they were the brand I loved to hate.

Now that I've settled down and I know what I like, I have a soft spot for that kind of thing. It's not trying to be anything more than what it is: a peacock piece for the true working man. The man who isn't laboring under the misapprehension that if he tries to pretend to be "stealth wealth" the rentier class will take pity on him and invite him into their club. He's not that midwit who spends a few month's car payments for the stainless steel 36mm watch with "horological heritage" in the vain hopes of impressing some guy whose brief favorable impression over his subtle taste might change his fate in that moment. He's not trying to play a 4D chess game to imply inherited wealth (without boasting! can't boast about weath! they don't like that!) to get in good with the people who profit of his labor, who will never even care what his oldest kid's name is.

It's a simpler equation: shiny = good. A man size watch for a man. His wife got it for him on their 5 year anniversary and he wears it with pride. The next anniversary on the way home from the warehouse he picks up a dozen carnations and a bottle of the good stuff: Layer Cake Bourbon Barrel Aged Cabernet Sauvignon. Neither of them cares much for wine but it's a special occasion. She didn't have to remind him this time. The watch is his reminder.

Maybe I'm just romanticizing poverty but to me it's more honest than the orient bambinos and the cocktail times that pass for "class" around here.

practically a meaningless distinction aside from to sate the egos of lolex, AP, and patek fanboys, two of which have to cope with being outright inferior brands to lange and vacheron and every other actual independent, and the other of which consists of an overcompensating customer base that also has to cope with steadily worsening finishing quality on anything that isn’t a grand complication

In the past 30 days I have purchased six Casio watches, here I will rank them from my least to most liked:
>F84W (cool face design but too small and has comically tiny strap with insane taper)
>CA53W-1 (white calculator watch with inverted screen, fun aesthetics but pretty unusable buttons, poor legibility on screen, and no backlight)
>F91W (iconic design, still child sized but better than the F84W)
>W217H (adult-sized F91W, extremely comfortable)
>G-Shock GWM-5610-1U (functionally the greatest digital watch I've ever handled because of the solar charging, radio clock syncing, and extreme durability, but the aesthetics and comfort are middle of the road)
>AE1200 (aka Casio Royale, probably the sexiest watch Casio has ever made, and quite handsome on the wrist)
Ultimately I'd like to own a simple two-watch collection: one Casio digital, and one nice mechanical. Still narrowing down the field for the latter. For the former, it will be the Royale or the G-Shock.

You can get a Tuna, a Turtle or a Monster for that money, or something like picrel, and plenty more to choose from. Do you really need that much WR though? You can easily drop it to 100m and broaden your choices while still remaining on the safe side of things unless you you're going diving.

I'd want to hire a bespectacled autistic twinkhon one for each arm, make them wear the most outlandish attention getting anime-influenced AGP outfits, and march them to the dining room at Le Bernardin. This would be at lunch of course, not because it's cheaper but because it somehow feels more transgressive (ha ha get it?) to be carousing with hookers in the middle of the day on a weekday.
