Some of you fags need a reality check, you've gone too far down the rabbit hole. You autistically obsess over fragrances and label them as being either good or shit (no middle ground), as being for summer or winter, for this occasion or that occasion, etc. The fact is 99% of fragrances smell nice and for the most part it doesn't matter what you spray on yourself. If you're attractive then smelling good is just the cherry on top (pretty much any fragrance will do). If you're some ugly loser it doesn't matter if you're wearing a ridiculously expensive niche fragrance or a mass-pleasing compliment-getter, ultimately you're still an ugly loser.

>> No.17414650

>> No.17414657

Autists pls meme me a new frag to sample, my last attempt to branch out was a dud (Black Afgano and NYI)

Most days this time of year I revolve between LADDM, ACCD and the odd spray of Lonestar when I'm in the right mood. It's been a couple of years of this and I'm getting kinda bored desu

Rules: nothing too screechy. Absolutely no "woodies" please, if I see wood anywhere in the description forget it. Nothing that costs $500 a bottle. Not TOO old fashioned unless it's truly timeless (usually when they say timeless it isn't). No guerlain. No chanel. To be honest let's just skip france (sorry france I still love you, it's not you it's me). Something on the "clean" side of heavy if that makes any sense but not a freshie

I'm thinking a chypre or gourmand might be the way to go here?

Yesterday I tried T-Rex by zoologist at work for the first time ( I work in a highway booth, a really closed and hot environment) and I was enjoying the fragrance a lot, but after a few hours I started to get some fecal notes and I was almost going to puke. I didn't even know where that came from, I went into fragrantica to see if someone even mentioned that because I'm aware that this fragrance evolves a lot and noone was saying anything even remotely similar that that so I assumed it was the mix with my body chemicals what was causing it (quite a hard pill to swallow as a frag head that your body chemistry has notes that makes you smell like shit) . The smell wasn't going away and I ended my shift thinking about swapping it for something fresher on Reddit.

Turns out I shat myself at work without noticing. My fucking chair has a big dent in the middle like a bad bicycle chair and it pressured my perineum area too hard that it got numb and it seems something leaked out by accident. One coworker when she came in the middle of the night so I could go to my break time asked me about my fragrance because the whole booth was smelling a lot and I told her it was T-Rex by zoologist.

Now I think she was making fun of me.

I live IN Düsseldorf, actually. I've dodged Schnitzler so far, mostly because I wouldn't buy anything, anyway. I go to Douglas, Sephora, L'Occitane, Breuninger and Galeria, sniff stuff and then wait for a better deal online, which I why I don't want to do that to non-chained perfumeries. One of the other ones might have had it in the past, but there's a chance I missed it. I don't want to ask the saleswoman because I usually just hit a spray of something I want to test and then leave, they are better off wooing their customers who might actually buy something there.
I'm in the city tomorrow for another visit to the Christmas market, might hit up Schnitzler on the way, so thanks for the heads-up.

>Is it okay to buy from amazon for fragrances? Have $50 gift card I want to use
every fragrance I look up on Amazon (excluding sub $100 ones) ALWAYS has reviews complaining of weak performance due to suspected fakery, which can occur if your order is fulfilled by some unknown company or even Amazon themselves sometimes. There's a reason why fragheads insist on buying from specific dedicated websites (see list above) or from the manufacturers directly, and it's because of the guaranteed legitimacy. Also, Amazon will probably damage your package during shipment.
>I want to buy Tom Ford Noir but it only seems to come in Parfum variant, is this normal?
Yes. Intensity is a preference but the idea that male fragrances only exist as eau de toilette is limiting and completely incorrect. Tom Ford Noir only comes as a Parfum, not a cologne, and this is pretty much the industry standard. Shockingly brands don't actually want their scents watered down as much as possible.

SOTD was Montebaco Verano.
You know what, this fragrance sucks. Not because it's bad or anything, it sucks because I smelled Intensivo first. Verano is more mass appealing, smooth and sweet. Intensivo is rougher but more nuanced and interesting .

In Verano the leather is neutered, the tea is gone, the florals are gone, the tobacco is softer, there's no sexy musk smells. What's left is a very appealing cashmeran , suede and grapefruit bomb that smells wonderful but not as artistic as Intensivo.
Basically Intensivo cost more but I didn't mind paying it because I got a genuine niche fragrance that was evocative of what it claimed in the ads and reviews. Verano "perfects" this by smoothing out all the rough edges and being sweeter and more airy, it's niche filtered through designer sensibility.

It's not bad, in fact if I smelled it first I would have loved it. But Intensivo is a 10/10, Verano is a 7 that would have been a 9 if I didn't already wear Intensivo

The scent itself is an amazing plushy tonka, with musks and a bit of leathery note of the top, it's extremely versitile and pleasant, yet unique, BUT it does not last at all, if it lasts 6+ hours on your skin, you are a genetic lottery winner. I've recently been sampling some Acqua di Parma and they're so good.

Colonia, Colonia Essenza, Intensa, Pura are all incredible (minus obviously poor longevity of the original). Oud and Spice is wonderful, the Blu Line are much snicer than anything like the Tom Ford blue line, and they have such an interesting variety of perfumes. Unless my memory is mistaken I feel like Leather is nowhere near as good as it used to be, both in terms of authenticity and performance, but I still like it (even if I wouldn't wear it).

Wore 1986 Eclectique by Les Baines Guerbois and today. So happy I bought a bottle. I know high praise for a fragrance on these threads normally reeks of hyperbole or fake hype but it's one of my favorites, I bought a bottle after blowing up through a decant.
If you're a young dude who's still into sweet frags and light blue scents, that's awesome but this isn't going to be your bag. I'm middle aged, this is a perfect romantic/date night fragrance for me.
This will sound crazy but the 1986 smells like a bar, and multiple people wearing different fragrances inside the bar, but in a good way. There's a boozy rum cocktail smell, aged rum and red and stone fruits, plus the smell of the barrel itself. There's the smell of fresh tobacco, smells just like how opening a fresh pack of Marlboro reds used to smell. There's a faint leather smell like a well worn jacket. And then there's combinations of notes that my brain reads as other distinct fragrances. There's a strong myrrh note, combined with patchouli and amber and it smells exactly like the drydown of Prada Amber Homme intense. Then there's a strong musk, vanilla and oakmoss combo that smells like the drydown of a typical barbershop fragrance, but I'm picking this up at the same time as the Prada smell, and all of them together with the boozy bar and tobacco smell.
But it doesn't smell disjointed or unnatural, it smells like walking past two people in a bar wearing fragrances the smell nice and somehow it all smells nice together.
Most fragrances smell nice, it's rare to find one that displays such imagination to come up with a concept and the technical mastery to execute the idea.
I know what I'm saying probably sounds nuts, that's fine. I'm not saying go buy a bottle, it's expensive, don't waste your money. I am encouraging you to get a sample and experience something very different than what's currently on the market, and I hope you love it like I do

I don't really have an answer to your question, but I do sense that they have a house style that adheres to some old idea of what a man's perfume is supposed to be. It's not like Egoiste and Antaeus smell like each other, but there's a Chanel thing going on in both. I like how they smell, but they don't have the sharp, distinctive notes that my very favorite perfumes have that make me shove my nose in them. The Chanel ones seem to know that it's about the general scent that the wearer gives off rather than being super interesting close to the skin. Antaeus and Egoiste do smell good when I'm taking a big whiff off my arm, but they're not optimized for selfish wearing like some oddball niche stuff is.

A coworker of mine used to smell like this and I asked if he had H24 but he said it was probably just his bodywash, which makes me think this DNA is starting to slide downmarket already just like classics like Cool Water, Drakkar Noir etc. It really smells like industrial cleaning products in the best way possible. Boys I'm at an impasse. I'm doing some off-season looking for a new summer fragrance

Of the mediteraneo line
Favorite - Fico di Amafli
Close second - Mirto di Panarea
Third - Chinotto di Liguria

Anything to know about these? I've not had any issues with performance or silage. I plan on finding a cheap bottle on ebay/mercari.

Kenzo Homme Intense is the best “aquatic” on the market right now. Ozonic melon, creamy woods with a distinctly beachy coconut-fig accord and the sparkling patchouli-sandalwood-vetiver base of Bois Imperial and Ganymede. It shares some similarities with Santal 33 in the base but after wearing it for a few weeks I don’t get it as much anymore.

Kenzo Homme Eau de Parfum just came in the mail. Wow bros, it's even better than EDT Intense and literally actually better than Bois Imperial. I'd also consider it to be a "deep blue" frag like the noselets on fragrantica always talk about and in that way, it absolutely mogs Dylan Blue, Bleu de Chanel, Sauvage, etc. Fuck it's good.

Also this is unrelated but I sampled Sauvage Elixir for the first time yesterday. People are really spending $165 to smell like Drakkar Noir? Literally just get Dakar lol

Anyone like the original Allure Homme?
This is Luca Turins review of it:
“I’m sure that when Pierre Bourdon did the beautiful and beautifully simple Cool Water he had no idea what he was starting. There have since been several hundred imitations, all trying to improve the unimprovable and ending up giving it more flab around the middle. This one is competent, utterly dull, and unworthy of Chanel. LT”
Is this a review for the wrong fragrance or am I totally missing how it smells like cool water?

Kenzo Homme intense and the edp indeed mogs citrus ambrox piss water, but Bois Imperial pulls off the akigalawood so damn good. They are even not in the same ballpark.
Bois Imperial is a photorealistic woody fragrance, smells like a fresh cut wooden plank.

Sauvage Elixir is your typical citrus ambrox piss water, but added unhealthy amount of sweetness. Nothing like the glorious, deep green aromatic Drakkar Noir, atleast the vintage formulation. Never formulation smells like spicy citruses, lacks the aromatics.

SOTD: Origins of the Collector

I absolutely despise the faggy ass name of this house and this fragrance because it smells so damn good that I know people are going to ask about it and I'm going to look like a retard explaining it.
I'll keep my review shorter than previous ones because apparently reading hurts (you) anons. Opening it a blast of bitter coffee grinds joined in by a sharp slightly smoky olibanum aka frankincense. Had the fragrance stayed in this lane I would love it more but it would be way more challenging to wear. Things quickly settle down and the black coffee grounds because Starbucks coffee with caramal sweetener. The incense calms down and takes on a slight dark fruit tinge but the coffee is the start of the show here. It doesn't evolve much after that but it doesn't need to, fragrances like this are non-existent in the designer realm and still rare in niche. If you're familiar with Rochas Man and New Haarlem you'll understand the coffee smell here. This fragrance isn't as sweeter as those however, Origins is 60% coffee and 40% incense+spice.
Longevity is great. Projection is explosive for the first hour then gently weakens over the day.

I can't imagine wearing this in temps above 60, it has such a cold weather character to it that it would be wasteful to wear this in heat. Maybe spring date nights when the weather is cool.
Overall, great frag, easy 8.5-9/10

Recommended smelling: Rochas Man and New Haarlem are the two obvious choices. If you want a challenging and slightly animalic coffee try Eau des Iles

https://www.fragrantica.com/perfume/Maitre-Parfumeur-et-Gantier/Eau-des-Iles-5601.html

If you want a slightly sweeter and more pure coffee scent, try Coffee Addict. This is a far safer choice than Origin, but if you love the smell of coffee and want to smell like it all day this is one of the few coffee scents with good longevity

If makes me so fucking mad that we have ten million clones of things like Aventus,Sauvage, BdC, Aqua Di Gio, Green Irish Tweed etc but not one clone of M7. One of the most revolutionary fragrances of all time , in retrospect at least. You have to pay out the ass for bottles on eBay but they rapidly sell out, I've been watching for years. It's highly rated and there's plenty of demand but no one made anything quite like M7.

And please don't say M7 Oud Absolu or whatever the fuck they are calling it now. M7 is the 10/10 true love woman you marry, and she died. IMHO one of the best conceptual executions of being a flanker I've ever seen. To me most flankers are soulless cash grabs that tweak something very slightly and expect you to pay full price for it (Le Male flankers) or they smell nothing like the original and are just copying a proven name because the company is unsure it would succeed as a new IP (Sauvage Elixir).

Extreme is brilliant though. It clearly references the original but then goes in enough of a new direction that it justifies the purchase even if you own the original EN. Instead of a vetiver bomb the fragrance is many 30-40% the original EN and the rest is a bone dry incense and cypress. The color of the fragrance really works and matches the smell, it's autumnal and golden, arrid brown.

The other EN Sport flanker is great as a flanker too, it's concerts the inky stygian darkness of the original EN into something that's still clearly EN but also works on a summer day.

Lalique as a company is massively under hyped. All of their fragrances smell good and are unique in some way, they don't have an clear cash grabs, and the price to value ratio is amazing even on their price/luxe offerings. But they aren't normiecore like Versace, Ralph Lauren or Paco Rabanne. They aren't insanely expensive and rare enough to appeal to the snobs and their marketing department doesn't buy YouTube hype so they don't appeal to the Jeremy Fragrance pajeet incel demographic. Naturally no one talks about Lalique here either besides Encre Noir which is their most well known scent. It's a shame.

Whichever one breaks when you shove it up your ass you subhuman annoying faggot. You are worse on all levels that the Bois Imperial dickriders and that should tell you something, but it won't because compared to you Simple Jack is an intellectual titan.

And I know your defense will be something like pic related or "Haha I made you mad" because you are as shallow as a cum puddle.

I'd say it's up there as a cheapie. Very organic smelling to my nose for the price. It's not for me but it's good. Nothing super unique but no one is going to think you smell bad or tryhard
