Christmas SOTD Divine L'Homme Sage

https://www.fragrantica.com/perfume/Divine/L-Homme-Sage-43.html

I swear there's a rubbery leather note when you first spray that reminds me of Xerjoff Homme or Parfums D'Empire Cuir Ottoman.

Fun mix of fruit from the litchi, a phantom leather note, cold piney woods, smokey incense and a chocolate patchouli.
A very classic smelling fragrance,if someone said this was a classic Guerlain scent or a Parfums de Nicolai fragrance I wouldn't be surprised.

Yesterday I tried Bois Imperial at work for the first time ( I work in a highway booth, a really closed and hot environment) and I was enjoying the fragrance a lot, but after a few hours I started to get some fecal notes and I was almost going to puke. I didn't even know where that came from, I went into fragrantica to see if someone even mentioned that because I'm aware that this fragrance evolves a lot and noone was saying anything even remotely similar that that so I assumed it was the mix with my body chemicals what was causing it (quite a hard pill to swallow as a frag head that your body chemistry has notes that makes you smell like shit) . The smell wasn't going away and I ended my shift thinking about swapping it for something fresher on Reddit.

Turns out I shat myself at work without noticing. My fucking chair has a big dent in the middle like a bad bicycle chair and it pressured my perineum area too hard that it got numb and it seems something leaked out by accident. One coworker when she came in the middle of the night so I could go to my break time asked me about my fragrance because the whole booth was smelling a lot and I told her it was Bois Imperial.

Now I think she was making fun of me.

Bro you're sharing a singular experience in an ongoing thread of hundreds of anons talking about frags that last for hours.

There's no scam. You're just a noselet.

In all seriousness though, there are plenty of fragrances with certain aromachemicals that cause you to "nose blind". Basically you can't smell it after 30mins but alot of people can smell it on you after six or eight hours. This shit is what causes Cologne guy stereotypes, people can't smell what they are wearing so they just spray more but that ends up gassing everyone around them out.

Some of you fags need a reality check, you've gone too far down the rabbit hole. You autistically obsess over fragrances and label them as being either good or shit (no middle ground), as being for summer or winter, for this occasion or that occasion, etc. The fact is 99% of fragrances smell nice and for the most part it doesn't matter what you spray on yourself. If you're attractive then smelling good is just the cherry on top (pretty much any fragrance will do). If you're some ugly loser it doesn't matter if you're wearing a ridiculously expensive niche fragrance or a mass-pleasing compliment-getter, ultimately you're still an ugly loser.

The new Dior Homme 2020 is a good place to start, albeit a bit boring. I'd suggest going to a store just to smell multiple frags and then decide which one you liked most (so far). Dior, Chanel and Guerlain fragrances are great starter picks and widely available.

the current one? it's fine if a little boring. a very safe woody scent. if you like how it smells, buy it. don't blind buy, go to a store, spray some on your wrist and see how you like it

What the fuck is his issue?
Currently testing carbonara and for the first 30 minutes it had the strongest most photorealistic scent of black pepper I have yet to witness, and it indeed brought memories of grinding freshly roasted black pepper into cacio a pepe, then it turned into his signature lovely cold vanilla that lasts forever. But like really? why did this autist have to make this black pepper note so strong? It's so weird.

>>17412402
how does fahrenheit count? Fahrenheit Absolute hits the goth spot for me but that shits too expensive now. can i add Amouage Figment Man though? Narciso Rodriguez for Him? Ungaro Pour Homme III? But they border on depressing. Heeleys Cardinal and L'Artisans Timbuktu and Passage d'enfer are along the lines of Avignon.

Hey anon I just bought a bunch of frags from Luckyscent. I'm not going to touch some of the other replies here but apparently you want unknown, underrated, gothrock (???) and less than $200

If you're actually looking for something and not just being an asshole I strongly suggest this:

https://www.luckyscent.com/product/22713/lhomme-sage-by-divine

https://www.fragrantica.com/perfume/Divine/L-Homme-Sage-43.html

Check it's scores our first. Released in 2005, 4.29 out of 5, 200 votes. So it's well rated but compared to scents with thousands of votes from this year, it's very unknown
Go to the reminds me of section and it's blank. For good reason. I have never worn anything quite like this. It's got smoky elemi, cold snowy woods from the pine and leather but also a floral heart from immortelle and a pinch of ripe seductive fruit from the litchi. The reviews are glowing and for good reason.

It smells great, it performs well, it's rich, dark and seductive so it would fit fine in a goth setting, it's well under $200 and it's in stock.

>> No.17412462

>>17412450
Fahrenheit is literally gasoline, leather and flowers. To me that's goth as fuck.

Figment is over rated and over priced. Ungaro 3 is only good if you get the old formula. Look for bottles with the red cap on eBay. New batches are piss.
Timbuktu isn't anywhere near Avignon but forget that. If you want goth get Voleur Du roses and Passage D'enfer. Both are goth as fuck, slight edge to Voleur because it's goth that fucks, Passage is just more dry.

Narcisco Rodriguez is over rated shit for people who won't wear better musk scents because they are labelled unisex.

As someone who loves Bogarts, it’s a solid offering. A crisper version of Le Male, in my opinion.

>> No.17412501

Strongly disagree with your opinion here. It's the cardamom of YSL La Nuit mixed with JPG. Smells great, I'm a man in my 40s and it's gotten great feedback from women. So far I've gotten compliments from black, white, latina and Asian women, ages appear to be 25-50.
And no I am not a handsome man, I've said this in previous posts but I'm a bald Jew who height maxed, I look like a much taller but still fat Les Grossman, so if I get a compliment on a fragrance, the fragrance smells good.

>> No.17412506

Candy sweet, loud, cloying, it's a miasma of copied notes that smells like something a pajeet cab driver would spray on himself with pride before shitting in front of a train station. It's not good, it's not good at all, and the only people who say that it's good are the ones that have convinced themselves they've found a hidden gem because they lack the impulse control needed to save $20 more to get something much much better.

I know some ass will call me a pretentious snob, and that's fair. But I'm not wrong. Some cheap frags smell amazing, I'm a huge fan of Azarro Visit for instance. But this just smells so fake and sweet that I question the taste and integrity of anyone that hawks it.

Dylan Blue is fine enough for a standard every day blue frag. Not challenging or interesting in the least as an object of art if you're more into frags, but fine for normies. I'm not too crazy about the Luna Rossa line, they go even further into "shower gel" vibes which is just not for me.

>Dylan Blue

Huge fan, absolute banger of a frag. It's the best "blue" fragrance out there. Combines the smoke and incense of Bleu de Chanel, the Ambroxan of Sauvage and a sort of marine woodiness of AdG Profumo.

I honestly don't know why this fragrance isn't crowned as King of the genre. It's not juvenile, it performs well without being loud, it's recognizably a blue fragrance while still smelling unique. Love it, 9/10.

I think it's great and a little underrated, probably because it's not really a normie frag. it's more like a take on Shalimar with less citrus and vanilla and a bigger emphasis on patchouli. it's very rare to see a noticable civet note in a modern designer frag. unofortunately it wasn't a hit and its more generic normie flanker, "noir extreme" has overtaken it

be sure to try Guerlain Shalimar too if you like this, the EDP especially. it's a women's frag but it smells quite similar to Noir and smells fairly unisex by today's standards (many women nowadays wouldn't touch something so heavy with smoke and animalics and all that)

Are you kidding? Most guys don't own a single fragrance, and if they do, they wear the fragrance on very few occasions. I would guess that 10% of men regularly wear a fragrance and 1-5% of men own multiple fragrances and own one of the many 'popular fragrances' (of which there is ~ 100). What are the chances that these 1-5% of men own the same popular fragrance you are interested in AND actually wear it? The only fragrances that I would be confident norms are familiar with are bleu de channel, one million, and maybe a select tom ford.

Tam Dao Diptyque
Santal Blanc Van Cleef & Arpels
Radio Bombay DS&Durga
Debaser DS&Durga
you should probably try the classic Santal 33 Le Labo, and as my favourite I would go for Piano Santal L'Orchestre Parfum.
And as for darker, dirtier things check out Musc Ravageur, Grand Soir, Eau Duelle Eau de Parfum, francesca bianchi fragrances, african leather, black orchid, noir extreme TF, and jubilation XXV

1: Time for something a little different: Work scents for professionals and people in management age 25+. Let's be realistic, sometimes when you're in a high paying field there are rules and regulations and you can't express yourself as much as you'd like to clothing or scent wise. Especially if you're the boss and need to maintain a certain image of being approachable but also professional and in control.
What does this mean for your scents? Basically you're going to want quality scents that aren't as loud and don't have notes like cumin, heavy booze, heavy sexual musks, heavy smoke, rough ouds, etc. This may sound restrictive but as with most things in life its another change to be creative.

Let's start with spring. My choices are:
Hermes H24 EDP. The smell of hot irons, fresh linen, steam and green bananas

Loewe 7 Plata: Pink pepper, smokey mint, cedar and green incense

Creed Himalaya Ice cold woods, juniper, pepper and light musk

Issey Miyake Bleu: Beautiful mix of pine, rosemary, amber, florals and a light aquatic musk

These will smell amazing on a crisp match day. They aren't your standard Sauvage or BdC but they're still accessible and will last

>> No.17413930

2: For the summer

Hermes Voyage EDP Pink pepper, tea notes, papyrus, florals, cedar

Les Indemodables Escale en Indonesie: A huge ambergris note, neroli and sandalwood

Goldfield and Banks Bohemian Lime: Peppery lime, Vetiver and cedar

Jourum Studios Gorseland: Gorse, Apple, neroli, green rose , lavender, coconut, grass

These four scents work well even when it's 95 degrees and you're sweating your ass off. They are light and fresh while still smelling mature, and they have echos of other more common fragrances. Escale is basically what niche Sauvage would smell like if it was good and well put together. Gorseland is the coconut from Virgin Island Water via gorse and with a more grassy floral dry down that smells like a Hermes Jardin fragrance.

These are fresh and captivating but still smell good with a suit.

3: For the fall. This is the easiest season IMHO, you have so much room to work

Histories Des Parfums 1899 Hemingway: An evolution of the original Spicebomb DNA. Juniper opening to keep things fresh, dries down to cinnamon, sweet woods and dry amber and a ghost of blonde tobacco

Prada Luna Rossa Extreme: Clean soapy Prada style minimalism with a contrasting note of a blast of black pepper. absolutely love the contrast here.

Terre D'Hermes EDT Dirty orange, dusty ground up minerals, Vetiver and cedar. I prefer the EDT because it's rougher but the Parfum works well too

Polo Cologne Intense: Criminally ignored fragrance and one of the best blue fragrances on the market. Marries the sweet herbal opening of the original Polo to the shower gel wood drydown of YSL Y EDP/Parfum. Under rated because morons expected Polo Green 2, which admittedly isn't help by the name. This is the closest I'll get to an Ambroxan dominant frag. The sweet green herbs last into the drydown so it's never just a blue fragrance.

The reality of office temps is they're probably going to be the same year round. 70 in the spring, summer, fall, winter. It's all the same in first world countries. So you could probably wear the same things year round, but people associate certain smells with seasons. Grass and flowers in spring, citrus and ocean in the summer, dry woods in the fall, and more heavy woods, spices and vanillas in the winter. I think most people's wardrobes work fine in the fall, you can have temps ranging from 40-90 so there's room for everything

Lastly, winter

Prada Luna Rossa Black: An interesting bergamot earl grey opening quickly moving to an arid and bitter green galbanum that turns dusty and blends in with a powdery barbershop dry down. Clean, sweet and powdery

Divine L'homme Sage: Smells like money. Syrupy immortelle blending with rich golden cedar, nutty cardamom, sweet cold pine needles and a slight fruity touch of orange and litchi. Every note is distinct, absolute masterpiece of a fragrance. This is a work fragrance that I love wearing outside of work.

Lalique Lion EDP: One of the best kept secrets in the fragrance world, poor man's Bois Du Portugal. Citrus melange opening turns into smoky lavender and powdery sandalwood along with rich oakmoss and vanilla. Punches well above it's weight when it comes to cost.

Caron Pour Un Homme: Chose it as the opposite of Lalique Homme due to it's presentation of lavender. Here the lavender is rich, regal, plush and velvet. Blends perfectly with the rich sweet drydown of vanilla, amber and musk. This is as sweet and rich of a fragrance as I'd feel comfortable wearing at work, it also works as a date fragrance. But in cool temps it's easy to spray lightly and keep it under control, especially the newer formulations that are less dense and rich.
This is the spiritual precursor to YSL La Nuit IMHO

So there you have it, four seasons of diverse professional work fragrances to have you smelling unique, classy and professional.

they are the most overpriced shit you can get, they are all about being "higher quality everyday scents" and they fail miserably at the higher quality part, and herod is the worst fucking offender of it, the tobacco in herod is the same exact combination of chemicals that is used in red tobacco by mancera, same goes for carlisle but it gets masked later on with the applepie theme it has going on there. Niche. Notorious smells narcotic and divisive on the opening to my GF, but she loves the same scent on the drydown.

I liked the sample of his Raw Cherry more than Tom Ford Lost Cherry. (think sweet oud, chocolate, cherry, vanilla).

Forbidden is his best one though. Dark chocolate covered orange with turkish delights and sweet cherry cake. Actually a unisex and can be used by either me or my girlfriend.

ATH fragrances are alright, but i'd order a sampler before you commit to anything or just buy his most highly rated frags.

ATH does best on drydowns and they last all day and nnight.

I enjoyed PDM and am trying to try some new things since I completed my collection with them, I am unsure why you are so hostile towards them.

Offnote, I bought Hacivat instead of Aventus because I couldn't justify the price tag for something relatively similar. Even though the sample of Aventus had a far nicer drydown than Hacivat, Hacivat lasted longer. I wish Hacivat wasn't so earthy on the drydown though.

I have both. Sauvage is more of a nightly fragrance. I use it when hitting bars or leathery places. I'm gonna be crude here: it has some sweaty ass vibes. Bleu is a great all around for me. I feel comfortable with it everywhere. The only place I'd feel weird would be maybe in the office, but I don't work LMAO (office anons help me here).

there's a difference between spending 300 on some niche shit that smells like nothing else and spending it on pdm which just smells like run of the mill designer shit

>> No.17414435

>>17414402

But if the guy only paid 150-200 dollars for it, which is what quality 100ml+ bottle designers go for, then stop fisting his asshole over it.

PDM is fine if you don't pay full price. Spending more than 300 dollars on a scent is fucking retarded.

You should go and try it. You might like it.

Personally I find it pleasant but boring and it isn't really what I'm looking for from perfume. Same with most uninspired liquid hawked in blue bottles.

But if you just want to smell of citrus for 5 minutes then thin woody amber for the rest of the day, and not stick out it's fine.

What the fuck are you talking about? PDM, a house claiming inspiration from French Royalty is Globohomo?

Tom Ford is literally a homo and so are the majority of the other big brands.

Jesus Christ, if you don't like the scents or price performance/ratio, it's fine.

But get your mouth off Tom Ford's, Chanel's, and Dior's sasauges.
