What do I need to care for my boots?
>Old cotton t shirt (one for cleaning, another for applying conditioners)
>Horsehair brush ($10-15)
>Wooden shoe trees ($10-15)
>Light conditioner like Lexol/Bck4
>Heavy conditioner (if you live in terrible snow/rain areas) Sno seal/Obernauf LP
>Don't forget that boots need time to dry properly, rotate them and don't wear them daily for too long

How do I deal with x stain?
>mud: allow it to dry then brush off
>salt: water and cloth as soon as possible
>saturated wet: allow the boot to dry for a full day, stuff with newspaper
>scuffs and scratches: buff vigorously with horsehair brush

>Should I buy turdsdays/soloshits/doc shitans?
No they are filled with synthetic materials aimed at instant comfort but will not hold up to actual use.
>b-b-but muh ecelebs on youtube said they're good
no. you will waste your time and money and still have uncomfortable footwear at the end of the day. spend the extra $100 and get something real.

So i bought these Meermin boots to start off. The only size reference i had were my Loake oxfords, which i have in size 9 and 9.5, so i got these in 9.5 as well. My foot is not moving, but they don't feel tightly snug as my oxfords do. The heel is not moving while walking, but i get the feeling that 9 would be better. How do you know the boot is a goid size? Should i keep them? I reckon they'd stretch with wear.

I'd keep the 9.5 and either get the saphir leather insoles or thicker socks if you want it a little more snug

I guess you're right. To be honest, my feet hurt. pretty bad when wearing the oxfords for a full day, so they might be a little too tight.

The more I wear them the more I like them.

First of all the 363mod last is probably the most comfy last I've tried so far.
The ridgeway sole is probably the best sole I've tried so far.

They were very flashy at first, but over time they have lost some of their shine (I am not brushing them except for dust removal) which makes them look much better.
Another thing that happened is on the first couple of wears, all the crease points developed a thin white film that stood out, apparently that's cordovan "blooming". This doesn't happen anymore and now they draw a lot less attention.

One other thing that stood out, my dog gets very happy when I come home. All my non-suede shoes get scratched very easily because he likes to jump. He stepped on these, I thought "oh fuck" and then I looked and there was literally nothing. Maybe corodvan is as sturdy as people say? idk

And yet no RTW last looks anything like this, they are usually narrow with a lot of excess height. Literally no one has feet like that.

Left is the original.
UK english = Stitchdown
Dutch = Veldtschoen

Later on, the term Veldt migrated to UK english vernacular.

Sometimes later, they added a welt to the thing, then appropriately called it welted veldtschoen to differentiate it from the original Veldtschoen, but then somewhere along the lines, got lazy and shorthanded welted veldtschoen to just veldtschoen.

>>17384406
I know what you are thinking about. However, the original form of that construction did not get called “stormwelt”, naming it that way was retroactively. Though it is correct that any forms and shapes of storm welt are meant to mimic something else done by hand in the past.

I've had a pair of waterproof Palladiums that I've been wearing for the better part of 8 years, and the sole finally wore through.

I'm looking for a boot I can use in the winter for around town. I have heavier winter boots for actual outdoor use, these are mostly for grabbing groceries and being at work (office). I'm in the upper midwest.

yeah
you send money upfront to the other side of the globe to a guy that can't even set up a basic website in hopes he will make shoes for you when he gets to it, which could be 6 months or more
you communicate through instagram or whatsapp exclusively and try to make your order clear to someone that barely understands english, your options are what you can gather from garbage insta pics
if he screws up your order or decides to ghost you entirely and fuck off with your money you have absolutely 0 recourse
you can wait a year and blow couple hundred dollars on boots that don't fit, are not the config you requested or don't appear at all
but hey, it's cheaper (not really) than well established quality brands, so it's worth gambling on a third world shoemaker with dubious competence and business practices
indonese/chinese insta shoemakers are endgame rabbitholes for novelty seeking, 20+ pair collection, ultra autists, because they burned through all the vibergs and white's now they have to have something more hipster and niche
