>So what about a Milgauss or submariner?
Miligauss - walk in and buy, maybe wait a week for them to order one because its not a huge seller
Submariner no date - walk in ask for one, they might just have it otherwise wait a couple weeks
Submariner date- walk in and ask for it, maybe wait a month or two.
Things are totally different from how they were six months ago when everything had a crazy waitlist

They may not have them in stock but you shouldn't have to wait for more than a month for any but the most popular models (steel GMT, Daytonas, Day-Dates).

Other models that are hard to get will be some particularly rare color combinations for Datejusts, plus some models they simply do not build many of, regardless of them not being popular, like Yachtmasters or Sea-Dwellers. (They may have one in the case but if they don't, it may be a bit of a wait.)

Explorers, Subs, common OPs or DJs, though. If they don't have any in stock, you'll not have to wait more than a couple weeks to a month.

I've been thinking of getting a Nomos club for ages but I'm also a big fan of cushion cases. Will I regret getting this Farer instead of a Nomos from a pedigree/quality standpoint? I have a couple of microbrand watches but no "real" German or Swiss watches.

>> No.17378208

>>17378205
Nomos watches are extremely nice for what they are, even better if you buy used with a significant discount.
Farer watches are fun and i like a few of their designs but they are still just a microshitter brand.
The answer is to buy what you like. If you feel like the pedigree of an in-house movement will increase your enjoyment of the watch then that is something to consider.

>> No.17378216

>>17378205
I strongly recommend buying the Nomos, and buying it used. It will completely mog the Farer in every respect. I would also strongly recommend trying on the Club in person first if you haven't already because the lugs are big and the watch wears way different than its dimensions imply.

Hi anons. My father just showed me my family's heirloom pocket watch. Can you help me get a sense of how much the item is worth?

It's a vintage Omega watch like the picture. Minute and hour hands, and a dedicated seconds dial near 6 o'clock. All gold with jewels in the movement. Unlike the picture, our watch doesn't have an engraving or a movement window on the back, it has my great-great grandfather's name inscribed. It keeps time just fine, but the seconds hand has stopped due to a problem with its gear.

That's right, I'm not particularly educated about watches. That's the reason why I came here to ask. I'm not even sure if the pocket watch was valuable at the time it was bought to be honest.

Sorry to disappoint you but my family is quite humble despite our wealth. We're not ostentatious. Nobody knows we own 30+ homes, and that's just my parents. I could literally live off rent if I wanted to but I still made something of myself because we believe men who can't make their own fortunes don't deserve their inheritance. I'm going to say "not much" in that don't expect it to be worth tens of thousands or anything like that. I used to collect pockets, mostly English make but I recall some generalities. Basically anything with real worth is going to have one of the big names on it like Patek, Vacheron or Audemars. Things with odd complications like repeaters and sonnerie, even chronographs, are going to be in the thousands. A basic time only gold omega? I dunno. Maybe 2k and 2k is the dealer's price where they've serviced it and marked it well up. I haven't been keeping an eye on prices though, for maybe 12 years now.
Just have it repaired. Keep it. Never dream of selling it.

2 - 5600bb not modded

3 - 5610, hydromodded (because you literally could not tell the time without doing this), and titanium case/bracelet from Aliexpress

4 - Bit of a meme, but I wanted a reverse panda style watch, so I changed out the chapter ring for a white one that glows in the dark (can now tell the time at night), plus changed the case for a Casioak case.

They make nice watches for the money you pay, and unlike with Nomos they actually retain most of their value in case you decide to sell.
Nomos is terrible value for what you get, and most of their watches can be had for 20%-ish in the second hand market.
Heck, there was a time when you could get a Nomos for less than 200 bucks, since so many were being sold by Siemens employees. Bought a bunch of them back then to flip, and don't regret not keeping one.
