What an odd photo. Regardless of whether you turn it or not, it looks likr you're in a room, just that the landscape orientation is a room with wooden panel walls and the portrait one is just a normal room.
Freaky.

Please suggest a watch for me.
>Budget: Around $200
Watch Type: Dive watch I guess, but I'm open to suggestions. Something that looks elegant but not too formal. I considered going with Seiko. I'm really open to recommendations here.
Movement: Any type would be fine.
Desired features: None, I'm just interested in the style.
Strap Option: Steel wristband
Wrist size or desired size: Medium sized, and I have tools to adjust the wristband size.

I'm just looking for something I could wear to business dinners that looks nice and classy but not over-the-top flashy.

Thank you.

I'd buy this if it didn't have the date window and the "X FACTOR PROSPEX" logo. It's jarring, the juxtaposition of the retro 50's "automatic" font, the Arial "20 BAR" font, and the modern X logo--all clash on top of the classic mid-century dial design. Just bad.

I have been into my AD (UK) so IDK if that makes a different. Call the AD's without watchmakers in the back but carry the brand online only, so they could not fit it if they wanted to. I had to do that a few times for Omega clasps as main AD's watchmakers don't like mixing watch parts (seamster clasps on Speedmaster bracelet)

Take a weekend away with the girlfriend, road trip? If it was me I would just fly on a cheap flight. If I'm honest I always find 3rd party claps trash.

Tons of complications. Day, date, month, year, moonphase (in both northern and southern hemispheres) and it knows if it's a leap year so it will autocorrect for 28/29 days in February.

> Your budget

Like 10k should be enough for a nice watch?

> Watch type, e.g. dress, diver, pilot

Pilot I suppose, assuming those are the ones with the most cool and useful functions.

> Movement, e.g. automatic, hand wound, quartz

Mechanical in general. Automatic preferred, hand wound also acceptable.

> Desired features, e.g. water resistance, day/date, 2nd time zone

As many as possible. A chronograph at least and as many cool things as possible to do with it, like a tachymeter and pulsometer and asthmoeter and anything they can come up with. Water resistance is good too, don't want to worry about it failing under any circumstances.

> Preferred strap option, e.g. leather, nylon, bracelet

Metal bracelet.

JLC is very good about supplying extra straps and stuff. Every one I've ever bought they've tossed in a free strap along with other swag. You can swap between straps without tools too, just your thumbnail.

So, bracelet for most days, the rubber strap for super-casual stuff, and you can get a nice leather strap if you want to dress it up a little.

What do you think of a watch like this? There's all these cool meters on the bezel, I assume they're used with the cronograph. It seems to be made for sailors. Surely there are some cool things that can be placed on the bezel that normal people would find useful. That pic is the 41mm one. (The easy way to tell is that the 41mm dials have the minutes printed out at the indices.)

Celebrities tend to be thin and, if they're actors, tend to be small so 36mm works better on them. Celebrity athletes, on the other hand, tend to be bigger and go for the 41mm.

If you're particularly large, then 41mm may look more balanced. The DJ is Rolex's most popular watch so it makes sense they offer it in multiple sizes. (There's also the 31mm and the 28mm Lady-Datejust.)

Does anyone else here feel bothered by the current market of microbrands? Few of them rarely feel any more substantial than just arrangements of parts and layouts we already know too well dressed with internet marketing. I'm not even talking about the MVMT-tier shitters, but the stuff that's allegedly "by watchlovers, for watchlovers." It's like everyone is vying to be watch of the month until consumers salivate over the new hotness 4 weeks later.
As watch nerds it might be we're hyper aware of this, but surely even the casual scroller on Instagram gets tired of this madness too? I really hate how a brand's success just breeds more of them. It's almost too easy to do.
