Personally I couldn't see myself wearing that. I just don't really like how gold looks on my skin.
I also prefer the yellow colored LCD screen as opposed to one with a white backlight.
The illuminator has a nice orange glow as well. I'm also a big fan of the green map and the radial second clockface. 5 alarms is another big selling point for me. That sounds so useful.
It just looks very militaristic while remaining simple. I love it.

Anyone else here like Tissell? They are a South Korean watch brand that mostly makes Rolex "homages," but I've picked up two and have really enjoyed them. I have one of their divers (the vintage sub) and one of their 40mm blue pilot's watches. For ~$250 USD you get a high beat movement (Miyota 90s5 or 9015, depending on if you want a date complication or not), a decent bracelet with solid end links, and a pretty nice looking watch. Other than obviously being a shitter with no resale value, I don't see much of a downside. I'm sure there must be a catch, so I'm waiting for them to crap out on me but so far both have held up great for ~3 years or so. Here's their website: http://tisellkr.com/

I'm really undecided what Rolex to get. I hate the cyclops, so I tried OP in 36mm and 41mm. I wear 40mm watches no problem, but somehow the 41mm looks massive on the wrist and OK in the mirror.
Then I tried the DJ with jubilee bracelet nonetheless, and while I like the fluting and bracelet by itself I think that it will look really gaudy. The cyclops is okay from a distance, but annoying upclose. Less annoying on 36mm DJ somehow.

>> No.17371673

All Rolexes seemingly wear larger than their advertised size. The Oyster case is basically a semi-square cushion shape and the sport watches with the maxi case even more so.

A 36mm OP is a perfectly neutral watch and will even fly under the radar due to its brushed bracelet and lack of high-polish sparkly fluted bezel.

Buy it and never have to worry about buying another watch ever again.

One of the things that have correlated with it all is the sudden availability of Rolexes at the ADs, which, ever since it all started, i attribute to higher ups cracking down on ADs basically being the "kings in the castle" and building all that bizzare shoulder rubbing shit, as the risk of the brand just getting discarded by potential buyers is way too high (why waste your time (pun intended) getting a Rolex where you can get any other brand almost right away).

Its a nice watch, if you have a really small wrist 6" then the bracelets clasp itself is kinda long and will overhang your wrist across the bottom.
I dig tudor, but i would recommended you strongly consider the new 39mm ranger, the black bay 58 the black pay pro or the 39mm pelagos
While the black bay 36 is nice the other pieces that i mentioned are to me watches that excell in their categories and won't really be subject to some desire to upgrade to a better diver or better gmt down the road. Maybe im just biased against the 36 but i think the rolex oyster perpetual 36 is a much better looking watch with those same features and look (but it's also expensive) but in this particular case i might suggest just getting the rolex now if you think you might want to upgrade down the road.

Ask her if she likes/wants it, that's literally all you have to do.

You're better off spoiling the surprise and making sure it's something she actually likes, as opposed to taking a chance on something she might end up pretending to like because she doesn't want to hurt your feelings.

Wearing a watch if they don't is a flex in and of itself, albeit a small one. Wearing a Tag Hueue isn't a flex, for you to achieve any kind of 'flex' you'd need to have at least a Rolex or an Omega, anything under that is just pathetic. You'll flex more owning a big house and a nice car than a watch, nobody will notice that.

That said and to answer your question, Swatch group brands are generally the standard for value in their respective price brackets.
To put it simpler, you are generally safe. But in Tissot's price range, I'd personally turn to Citizen and Seiko. Solar (and even better, radio-controlled) is the best kind of movement for non-watch people.

Well, I'm retarded. I don't know why I'd regulate a watch that's -2s/year (estimated) and worst case, I will look for another $2000 watch in 20 years if there is no capacitor available. (Which I doubt.)
As to the why, that's because it's really nice.
I am seriously considering reducing my watches to this and a Nighthawk, because that's all I have been wearing for a few months.

The perpetual calendar is convenient and the independant hour hand is nice for travelling or managing DST. (No point in buying a HAQ if you need to mess with the time several times a year.)
