I wouldn't count on it. The Overseas still sells for 10k to 15k above MSRP and VC produces a handful of these.
People keep saying the second hand market is dropping but in reality it's only the few watches that reached insane price earlier this year that are correcting (Daytona, Pepsi, Nautilus, RO...). Most steel sports watches from the big names trade for way above MSRP.

Overseas are going for slightly above list price on schlomo24.
The flippers are fleeing for the exits.
The market will continue to crash in the US and China and it’s crashing the hardest for exactly the nouveau riche types who ruined the experience of buying a nice watch in the first place:
Crypto investors, FAGMAN techies, and china’s newly minted middle class.
Money will be tight for the next 2 years and the watch market will continue to slow for the duration.
The overseas was the last of the good sports watches to be ruined by speculators (after all Rolexes, the nautilus, the aquanaut, and AP), and it’s the first to recover.
You can already find overseas at ADs in big US cities. I saw the black one in Miami a few weeks ago but I passed because I’d rather buy another investment property right now.

100% because since the price is trending down, the speculators are no longer buying.

It's dressier than many but not enough that you can't wear it casually, comes with a bracelet but you can change it easily, it's 40mm the hands and dial are very nice and, imho the moonphase complication is done very well, especially considering the price. You can pick one for about $2,000 if you look a bit.

Inventing Tudor was the highest IQ move in watchmaking history. It allows anyone with a bit of money to talk their way into buying it.

If I was on their board I would propose;
- Tudor of Tudor for the 1~2K range featuring "faux faux patina" and "faux faux rivets".
- Tudor of Tudor of Tudor for the 200~500 range with "faux movements"; decorated random bits of metal behind a display caseback but it's actually a Miyota 2035

Zero COVID policy in China has sapped a lot of the rising middle class’s disposable income.
I work in crypto and people are tightening belts.
Startups that used to turn down $100MM as “not enough” are now scrambling for liquidity.
FAGMAN is full of autists who like “things” and it’s also an upward mobility industry where poor pajeets and Asians can finally afford all those nice things they used to see on their shitty crt tvs.
I may be delusional but less than a month ago I saw a watch for sale -not on hold- in an AD that 6 months ago you would have had to pay double the list price to get.
And anyone who has been in a Rolex AD since the summer can tell you shit has changed. Overnight they went from being Rolex museums to selling sports watches again (albeit at a higher retail price).
The resellers aren’t oblivious to market trends and they have stopped purchasing inventory.
This doesn’t mean that no one is buying these watches anymore but one large pool of speculative buyers, who until now enjoyed what amounts to an arbitrage, is drying up.
I don’t know why you would get so emotional over these simple statements of fact.
Are you a reseller or something? Is business slow?

More like AD shoulder rubbing has become so idiotic that it started to hurt the brand and the inner brand relationships and most likely the higher ups are cracking down on it Why the fuck would anyone go for a brand that can't sell you half of their products (especially if you are new money)?

I should have made a shorter response
I made it too complicated by dragging China and Big Tech into my theories.
Here is what I’m saying:
1. Prices of watches are trending down with resellers
2. Previously hard to get models are now showing up at ADs again
Therefore
3. It is now easier to acquire expensive watches for list price or close to it.
I think that these are easily observable facts.
Are you seeing something else that I’m missing?

Yes i do. One might even call it seething.
>1. Prices of watches are trending down with resellers
This is true and is easy to observe. I don't challenge that statement, however, i also believe that the noveau riche (i really like how that term sounds) is not oblivious to that and given that the perception and brand values of premium watches are unaffected, they might just see it as a Christmas sale and just buy in. Which means that what we're seeing is just the sneaker hypebeast types (the most active flippers) being dumb with their money yet again.
>2. Previously hard to get models are now showing up at ADs again
Which i attribute to higher ups finally cracking down on shoulder rubbing, as it creates a negative brand image (unless you're into some weird powerplay shit).
>3. It is now easier to acquire expensive watches for list price or close to it.
True, but it won't be for long and my overall point/conclusion/delusion is: the prices are going to slowly climb back up as the "cheap" watches are going to be bought up by actual collectors, long term players, noveau riche and more experienced scalpers.

This is perhaps the best part of it all. I forgot to add that the "replicas" situation is adding up to Rolex attempting to return to normal, even though it's nothing new and that's what happens when you chase recuperating the equipment expenses and selling your stuff to China, rather than ensuring that the integrity of your brand remains solid.

Even then. He was wearing his in the 60s and 70s, and it still wasn't a popular watch.
Italian collectors in the late 80s decided it was cool and, from there, it took off.
Throughout the 90s it stopped languishing in display cases and by the early 2000's it was now a wait-list only model.
Shit really exploded once the ceramic bezel showed up.

I know a thing or two about GS and to be honest i can't be completely sure that this is the case. Someone mentioned once that what is known as 'Zaratsu polishing' (the process is actually called lapping) can only be used for flat surfaces like on 44GS and 62GS which are full of them, while watches like your picrel have rounded, almost barrel shaped cases. I haven't seen a video of a rounded case being zaratsu polished, but then again there isn't much footage out there to begin with so i can't say.

Indices aren't Zaratsu polished, the hands aren't either. The people doing the polishing are incredibly good at their what they do though. There is a lot of confusion out there because 'watch reviewers' and youtubers usually don't have a clue what they're talking about and just throw buzzwords around. The amount of times i've heard or read about Zaratsu polished indices and hands or Zaratsu being an ancient japanese sword polishing technique is shocking.

Yeah but it's curved only in one dimension, you can see on my pic that the worker has a flat base on which he can rest his tool that holds the watch head, and he can slide the tool on it so it only moves in one dimension. I'm not sure if polishing a barrel shaped case can be done this way. Maybe by holding it freely, just by hand, idk.

I read somewhere that these machines were very expensive at the time GS bought them (they were made in Germany near the German-Swiss border btw) and i can see why, they are probably the best in the world. GS takes good care of them and has developed and makes their own proprietary lubricants and plates and other stuff they need so they're set for life.
