Is a off white shirt like this more appropriate for this sort of style? I’m planning to acquire one and think it would look better than a regular white shirt when paired with green moleskin trousers.

I don’t buy wool I buy cotton moleskins which are British/Commonwealth workers trousers from the Victorian-Edwardian Era but I’m pretty sure the wool fabric a in a lot of neofolk inspo is called “Loden.” Try searching that up.

I think so, yeah. I have a couple off white shirts that look rather nice with a both wool and cotton pants alike.

Besides maybe jeans, heritage is luxury. The market dictates that I guess. Maybe the real heritage clothing is just nice clothing that's more expensive than regular clothing.

But have you considered these 2 things: perhaps clothing isn't really meant to last longer than it's wearer is alive, and perhaps you should treat your clothing better?

And as for you question about buying natural fibers, maybe just look further than the mall. It is so easy to find 100% cotton t-shirts and collared shirts it is almost a joke to even point it out. As for wool dress pants, it is slightly more difficult and you actually can't buy the cheapest option. For natural fiber work clothing, you are in expensive territory. Why do you think that is?

I'll answer for you: it isn't practical given that synthetics are more durable, and for casual clothing, they stretch.

All of this is to say: either realize that not everything that is slightly more expensive than your mall clothing is luxury (and pay up) or just wear synthetics because they aren't all that bad.

You’re welcome anon. Don’t buy anything else from them but the linen shirts. All the other stuff is not worth it.

>> No.17348801

I was meaning heritage materials and cuts. I realise i can buy some luxury dress trousers that are 100% wool but that isn't what i am looking for. I just want some itchy boiled wool. I don't mind paying a bit more than a regular item of clothing, that wasn't my point. I only own a few pairs of trousers, jumpers, and shirts and i take care of them and patch them when they get holes. I am not one of these people who hates all synthetic fabrics but there is a time and place for them.

>>17348735
I already have a few linen shirts from uniqlo and most zara ones are blended linen. I was not refering to >>17346119 but was asking about the image on >>17345916 that i keep on seeing.

Oh, sorry. I misunderstood. Maybe Johnson's Woolen Mills has what you want with heavy wool pants. L.L. Bean may have what you want as well, if you haven't already looked. These aren't exactly fashion items with good looking cuts, but again it's sort of difficult to have both. There is always the tailoring route but that might not be convenient. Le Laboureur and other brands make chore coats like in the picture you replied to, in wool and cotton including moleskin fabric. I'm not sure whether they're really still around, but Le Mont St. Michel also does similar chore coats. There are plenty of brands. If you're looking for something quite old fashioned, maybe even look at Townsend & Sons (you are in a Neofolk thread after all). Anyway, there are more brands I can't recall. For menswear basics, maybe look at Spier & Mackay. There is plenty to be found. I don't know whether some of these ship outside of the U.S., but good luck anyway.

You're underestimating how hard it is to dress like squadrists.png
A big part of the "look" is coming from clothing that would be wildly impractical to wear today. The entire shape of the pants is created by "puttees": long strips of wool wrapped from the ankle to the knee. The boots are high heeled and hobnailed, and look absolutely gnome-like if you don't build the whole fit around them. Come to thing of it, everything looks fucking insane if you don't build the whole fit around it.
It's easy to look cool while wearing a few pieces of vintage. It's much tougher to look cool eating shit with your slippery metal boots and weird foot wraps.

I mean with regards to the black turtlenecks and wearing all black instead of the black-beige combo the Italians went for. Admittedly it looks very visually striking especially for a 21st century Englishman who doesn’t subscribe to their ideology. When I see people in all black it’s generally a 12ish year old pseudo-chavs wearing jogger bottoms and a hoodie who’ll run off as soon as you threaten to call his parents because he’s making a ruckus, not a ww1 veteran who’s actually trying to make himself presentable and looks like he’ll beat the shit out of you if you piss him off.

I feel like the boots kinda ruin this fit a little, but at the same time I suspect this outfit was meant to include at least one outerwear leather that would have tied it together a bit more? As it is I get such an old vibe from the rest of the outfit and seeing that abrupt pivot at the ankle to a very typical modern pair of hiking boots feels very... "heading to a re-enactment, will swap out my boots when I get there."
Not bad otherwise, I like what you've posted so far.
