The 2017 you are talking about is probably "Eau Sauvage Parfum 2017". It has nothing to do with Sauvage.
Dior has two fragrance lines with similar names, which can be a bit confusing:
Eau Sauvage
Sauvage

In the Sauvage line, you can find the Eau de Toilette, Eau de Parfum, Parfum, Elixir and Very Cool Spray.
The Eau Sauvage line has Eau Sauvage, Eau Sauvage Parfum, Eau Sauvage Extreme and a couple other ones (all starting with EAU Sauvage).

The Sauvage line is for kids, teens and tweens and maybe college boys.
The Eau Sauvage line is for men.

Cerruti 1881 reminds me of the original Eau Sauvage more than ES Parfum does desu. it's a nice cheaper option if you want something like ES but with less citrus, more aromatics and added rose
