Looked like that. This was made at their very beginning, i think it was one of the 5 watches that were released at the opening or something like that. Another watch being released was the Lange 1 which of course got all the attention so this isn't well known and wasn't produced further on. I'm not sure, i'm speaking from memory, let me look it up.
It does look a bit unfinished, crude and disproportionate, they were still defining their style and they haven't mastered the finishing yet as well.

>What do you get from your Asian parents when you’ve made them proud? While most of us simply hope for some kind of acknowledgement, if you’re the son of a billionaire, you’ll apparently get a million-dollar watch.

>In the latest season of the hit Netflix reality series BLING, Kane Lim had big news to share. He was newly appointed as the face of Fenty, a beauty brand founded by singer Rihanna, and this achievement earned the approval of his dad, who surprised him with a Jacob & Co timepiece.

>The watch was revealed to be the Astronomia Art Phoenix by Jacob & Co. The American watch brand, founded in 1986 by diamond designer Jacob Arabo, is known to make some of the world’s most over-the-top and complicated watches. The Astronomia Art Phoenix is no exception.

it depends on where you live and the watchmakers you have, they charge different prices

for cheap mechanicals most of the time the cost of a servicing is already as expensive as the watch, or even more.

>every 3 years
lmao.. It can go 10, 15 years even, no problem. Workhorse movements are made for the average normie and they can take a lot of 'not caring'. No one is seriously servicing a seiko 5 or whatever every 3 years. Do it if when it breaks or starts to become sluggish...if it has sentimental value to you.

This, its a fantastic watch for the current prices. It's a really nice looking sports watch that doesn't feel overly derivative, nice finishing, nice details, just overall a really great looking watch.
If you get the prx get the quartz, the auto is too thick, preferably get the 35mm version since it looks much better on wrist and really has that vintage integrated bracelet sports watch feel to it.

> Budget: Sub 500, stretch is 600-800
> Type: Adventurer watch (? not really sure what the difference between watch types is other than divers going really deep; I go outside and hike often in unmarked areas)
> Movement: Any that is durable and accurate enough.
> Features: Not sure what sort of features watches can come with, but I would like add-ons that would be useful for the aforementioned hiking in unmarked areas. I definitely want more features than just the time.
> Strap: Bracelet or leather strap
> Watch size: Don't want the watch to be super slim or small. My wrist is rather slim.

Was thinking a silver watch with black face, band either silver or black as well. Definitely willing to check out other colors, I'm typically wearing black clothes though.

There are watches that cater to adventuring, but that's more about design and history of the watches rather than actual functionality. There's no watch that's specifically made for hiking in unmarked areas, these aren't smart watches. Get a Garmin watch with GPS and downloadable offline maps for actual function.

Seiko Alpinist and Fieldmaster watches have compass bezels that make it more convenient to use your watch hour hand and the sun to help you find north. But you can do this with any analog watch, with or without a bezel. Of course, this is moot because I know you are not using a compass on your hiking trips. If you were using a map and compass, you'd be using a dedicated compass with adjustable declination anyways.

Okay, there is the Casio Protrek that has altimeter, barometer, thermometer, and digital compass with adjustable declination. That's probably the best you'll get from a functionality standpoint.

I technically have the money for a Rolex, but can't justify it at all.
Too bad.
I'm really liking these A1000's because they're just the right level of ridiculous.
It's clearly trying to be a dress watch and yet it's still kinda goofy.
All that effort into the case and you still basically have an F91W in function.
I only wish they'd used the bigger CR2016 battery for longer life between battery changes.
If you're still in the thread:
I have a gold screen F91W and the drop off of viewing angles makes it unreadable unless it's perfectly angled to my eyes.
It always seems to catch and cast weird shadows.
None of my standard screens have this issue; only the gold one.
Does your gold A1000 have that issue?
I love the gold, it's just that I detest the viewing angles of the gold screen I have.
(Funny since it's been the one I've worn the most over the last year.)
I've wanted an A1000 since they came out.
The prices have dropped and I happen to have a spare $100 lying around.
I'm probably just going to get the standard grey screen as it's always the most legible.

You buy a $50000 real watch

$500 automatics are cuck "enthusiast" territory, where people want to say they're into watches but they're really poor so they spend what feels like a lot to them but everyone thinks it's garbage besides other cucks in that cuckzone.

Honestly just stick to casio and cereal box watches until you have real money

Nope, you missed it.

If you can't afford a decent watch, then get an affordable casio. As it's a better watch, and super cheap.

casio:
tells time great, super durable, looks good. Lost it or broke? Skip 1 burrito
seiko 5:
garbage, tells time with novelty-level accuracy while needing to be constantly reset, breaks easily, still costs so much you'd hate to hammer it

See how you leap to the seiko 5? It's because you NEED to have something to spend enough on your balls hurt. You can't settle with a fun $10-$30 watch because that doesn't squeeze your nuts enough
