First and foremost, look at a watch's lug to lug measurement, that matters more than most. Peep the first image in the poorfag guide, it's just a 101 guide.

In your case, depends on the watch, but if anything, it should fit pretty well, if not perfect!

ive been looking for a black+gold watch at a cheap price( 150 $ max since im an eastern euro) and found this watch on a local retailer's site. it costs 65$ on the retailers site so its very affordable, and the only issue i would have with it was the 40mm. i think it looks good but i could be wrong since i am a newfag to the world of watches and the only watch i have is a rose gold fossil with blue dial and leather

well eur but theyre roughly 1/1 right now so it doesnt matter.
doesnt have to be thin AF, i just want something with black as its main colour, that is also different from the one i have right now, which is pic related(got it as a bday present 5 years ago, it is starting to croak on me). i saw a fully black watch at a store last week and it still lives rent free in my head but it looked off without a colour to contrast with.

Slightly within budget, we have an excellent Pagani Design diver, though the case shape might be a big no for you, depending.

45mm diameter, lug to lug at +/-47mm, sapphire crystal, but the movement is an NH35, don't like it much but a good first dip into the world of mechanical/automatic.

All in all, $140 USD and better build quality than Fossil's quartz + plastic movement holder pieces. dear journal,

finally pooped into my AD today and took a look at the recent yachtmaster, finding it surprisingly more slim and delicate than i had expected; almost to the point where i thought it effeminate
that aside, it was also a lot more tasteful than one can tell from publicity shots, the black and gold pairing while not muted, is certainly nowhere near as garish as the stills might lead one to believe
as it stands, i'm somewhat in two minds about the piece and will have to consider whether it's worth picking up

thanks for listening, journal that's all for today

If you are practicing this in your life you should extend it to your watches. If you just want to hold luxury goods to this standard you are being hypocritical. To my understanding it's all about not being corrupted by money and material possessions. Making sure the thing you own don't own you. Lets say you have a watch (luxury or not) and someone less fortunate asks you for it (with a knife or not), are you able to part with it? If you can't let go of material things you are corrupted and can't belong to anything other than money and the material world. I have literally gifted cheaper watches right off my wrist multiple times. It wouldn't be as easy for my more expensive watches but I like to think that I would gladly give them up to for the right person. Personally I try to live a life with minimal possessions and I would recommend it. The more you have the harder it is to give it up. I'm not perfect. I do get attached to certain things and I'm trying to improve. I think it's only natural to seek safety and security in physical things but it's important to know that they are not forever and be able to let go at any time. I don't think I'm the kind who things I don't need to worry about anything since that all will be provided, that's a bit much for me. I like to care for my basic needs.

Depends which price bracket you're selling a fake
After a certain point, you'd be a brainlet for not taking your piece to an AD with an in-house watchmaker to have it checked out, AFTER you've done your homework checking everything out abt the seller

Rep Modern Rolex/Tudor/Omega are direct tells the second the movement is seen, unless there's been a balance wheel swap, but then again, anyone who's doing a gen freesprung balance wheel swap do it for themselves, not to sell a fake as a real. Auction fuckery with franken pieces is more common *cough*antiquorum*cough*

Rep Panerai is child's play at this point, since Panerai themselves can't fucking tell and have shoddy paper trails for their own shit dating anything back to WW2

It gets harder to tell with some vintage-ish pieces that use ETA's since ETA clones are pretty good, but there's so little profit in passing a $300 project as a $2000~$2500 piece since most wouldn't be so old AND usually have complete box and papers

The franken issue is not too big of a problem on a grand scale, but let's draw out this odd exmaple with Rolex:

The current top-tier clone movements found in a decent $650~$700 USD rep of a sub or 41mm datejust uses a VR3135 OR VR3235 movement. Essentially, the chinese factories have managed to clone a Rolex movement almost to 99% accuracy. The only missing part that would allow it to run perfectly, aside from good oiling and decent clean assembly, would be the heart of the movement, the balance wheel. How much would it cost for a genuine Rolex one, if found through some channel/supplier selling it in individual quantities? Picrel

TL;DR, if someone could spend about $1k to $3k total on their own (for their own pleasure of tinkering) on some chinese reps and achieves what a $10k stainless steel watch from the Swiss does, it kinda leave interpretation open for franken's on vintage VALUABLE pieces

In all fairness, there is little room for margins, if any profits at all in vintage Omega's and the likes. As soon as you avoid (certain) vintage Rolex and vintage Panerai, you're more or less in the clear. (ie: Daytona's and Subs + All Panerai's with 6497's)

If someone refurbed what was basically a dead $500 watch that had an ETA movement with a $100 PT5000 (ETA clone), it's fair game, as long as it's just a good clone movement, and you parts are working as intended. No big value loss and big harm done. There's also bad frankens with old Seiko's being painted and slapped together in India, the occasional Oris or Orient that somehow slips into someone's dirty hands there. Sometimes, there's grifters painting over some naasty dial to make up some non-existent colourway, etc...

The worst of it really affects high-value stuff, and not much else. I'd point to the whole vintage Rolex GMT Master drama that happened with the made up "blueberry bezel" that some chucklefuck made up and conned collectors into believing a few years back lmao

Personal preference, but just remember it's not the 80's anymore, two-tone is apparently stratching the limits already in terms of gaudiness

Tag bought out Heuer as they were dying in the mid 80's. Since then, they driven the brand down to the ground with cheap quartz and overpriced falsely-advertized "in-house" work, and they've been slowly trying to make themselves legit again.

TL;DR they bought out Heuer, burnt people with horrible bang/buck, cheapened the Heuer name in the process, signed a lot of rights/sponsor deals for mass appeal and low quality, now scrambling to appeal to the masses through refined HEUER throwbacks.
