I was near one of the stores and by chance, they actually had stock. They're actually pretty good looking IRL. Very light and definitely very plastic feeling but I'm not surprised for the price tag. I might change the band to something like a nato.

Anyone else got one? As a side note too, do not buy one from a scalper. Some retards are trying to resell them for almost $1000 (or $2000 in Japan) and they're definitely not worth more than retail.

Definitely bought some watches I shouldn't have bought. I could sell them and get my money back but I hate selling stuff. I don't hate them but I don't really need them and I would be fine without them. They're G-Shocks so I'm not out a lot of money at least.

I would love to hear about the watches you bought that you regret but even anonymously I know it's not easy admitting it. Good luck friend.

I understand the issue of having a lot of cheaper, less liquid watches, since the effort to sell them feels like it’s not worth it while keeping them can feel like clutter.

Thanks fren. I bought a white dial skydweller gray from 2019 for 23,500 (retail is 15k, current liquid price if I sell is 19k, and new is less than I paid for the watch used) before I established a relationship with my current dealer. I bought a seadweller black for 10k and s and g Tudor trade. Sold the black SD for 12.5 and bought a two tone seadweller for 17k from an AD. I bought a Omega Seamasted Sedna as my first watch for 17k when you can buy it new from the gray market right at this moment for 12k.

My ass got blasted from a lack of patience and knowledge. I’m not in dire straits or anything but it is not a feeling I would want anyone else to have. Spending the money on watches if you have it is fine, but don’t get ripped off. Rolex is a waiting game, Omega is a research game. Omega charges well above market price, I would never recommend buying one from a store unless they offer you a rare watch for some unlikely reason.

Sorry to hear that. I try to buy my watches bellow retail but sometimes I get inpatient and go with a a small discount instead. I had a feelbad moment when I saw a watch for much cheaper after I bought it. I did the reverse calculation and I decided I would happily have paid the difference to have owned and worn the watch all that time. I don't know if that math works out in your situation. For me it was a few hundreds, for you it's a few thousands. It all depends on how much you like the watch. If you like the watch I don't think you should torment yourself with how much you could have saved. If you don't like it then that is real pain. The watches you mentioned are nice but they are huge, I hope you are a fat bastard so they fit well.

I hope you can weather the storm until you recoup your loses. You should get a G-Shock and put your watches away for 10 years then sell them.

It's hilarious how people still believe JLC is some sort of "connoisseurs choice".
It was kind of true when Patek, AP and VC used JLC movements. Back then you could get the best movements available without paying high horology money. But now that pretty much every luxury brand make their own movements and JLC stopped being a movements supplier, it's just one luxury brand among others that lost most of its uniqueness after being absorbed by Richemont.
I'm not saying they make bad watches (I actually love the Reverso) but I find most of their designs soulless and uninspired. They look too modern, huge and over-complicated. Just like these cars company that all make the same SUV designs.

Good ones will have a folded edge, expensive ones have gator on both sides, but calf is fine. You'll have to decide the square size, large medium or small, and finish; glossy, semi, or matte. You also need to decide on bolstering, or if it's padded or not. A good gator strap could exceed the cost of that watch if you go for the premium options.

safe choice would be something like this ostrich with the slightly gold tone running through those striations

aside from that though, you can pair it with whatever you like; giving it multiple different looks for any occasion; black crocodile is always nice with gold
grey suede might be interesting, especially if there was a blue thread running through it to match the hands

>>NOOOOO YOU CAN’T MAKE MODERN SPORTS WATCHES
Modern designs are ugly and soulless as fuck. Sports watches peaked in the 60s/70s, right before the quartz crisis. Doing a modern design for an outdated tech is cringe. This is why all the best watches are vintage inspired in their most basic versions : Submariner, Speedmaster, Royal Oak, Monaco, Santos, etc. These will never get old. Your gay ass JLC Polaris will look dated in 10 years (it already does).
>>NOOOOO YOU CAN’T ADAPT TO THE MARKET AND THE TIMES
Fuck off tranny, nobody likes modern designs. Everything is ugly nowadays: cars, buildings, fashion, movies, music. Watches are no exception. If you think pic related looks good, you're either a tranny, a s*yfaggot or a nigger.

A running secconds that allows for hacking is a mark of a timekeeping instrument, which a watch is, where "vague" shouldnt even be in a dictionary.
I have a 1950s soviet manual wind that in any other position than face-up loses 3min a day. I still adjust it every time I wind it up (once a day), but guess what, non-hacking seconds.

NATOs are gay shit that adds enormous bulk with the stee strapl loops
MN type straps are fantastic because they are skin thin (may feel cheap) but are very finely adjustable and flex and only take a rinse and dry to clean off
perlon can be pompous and elegant or thin and cheap depending on the weave, supposedly well breathing and quick to dry, certainly compared to leather straps, even rally ones, which take a very specific watch design to work well with in the first place

I dont think the strap material itself matters as much as the actual fit, I have stout leather straps that feel right on the 2nd hole, but as my arm hangs and wrist swells, 3rd hole is the one to go to and the watch stays solid. Also highly depends on the season, winter metal straps are ass and your wrist wont swell up or sweat, thus keeping a more constant diameter.

Dont ever go for a nylon strap with holes, the cheapest of the cheap, no give, cutting into the skin, the rings tearing loose, just forget about it
