I find it really odd how almost every desirable watch VC has released in the last few years is in the historiques collection. I think the Patrimony and to a lesser extent the Traditionelle desperately need some kind of update. Or, horror of horrors, actually release a new model.

God I hope they make a 35mm mechanical version with the dial pattern. I love the design of the watch and the execution is great for the pricepoint, but the 40mm size is too big for that style of watch for my tastes. A 35mm would be perfect.

I actually got my posts deleted last thread even though I was not trolling. My take was that wearing a watch as a sign of wealth isn’t a new practice and people can do whatever they want in my book. If you like a watch because it makes you feel or look rich or if you enjoy the exclusivity it’s not uncommon with luxury items.

I own a sky d and a Seadweller stainless and they are showy but I also appreciate the design, the retention of value, and the prestige. Does that make me more of a douche than someone who just buys watches for horological reasons? Probably, but if my tastes change I can sell them at a value close to what I paid. Sucking up to ADs and flexing with a background BMW is pretty sad tho.

Design, within reason, is a matter of subjective taste. I was only commenting on the quality being appropriate for the price point. It's not my cup of tea for haute horlogerie, but they don't have any trouble selling them so clearly there are enough people out there who appreciate them enough aesthetically to pony up.

Now that Seiko Instruments is developing their own Micro-Artist Studio equivalent under the GS brand, I'll be interested to see the direction they go. The Kodo constant force tourbillon was pretty interesting, technically and aesthetically, and wildly different to Seiko Epson's M-A S watches.

I'm friendly with my local independent watchmaker and so he did me a favour and dialed in the adjustment on the 3135 in that DJ to the point that it ran at +0 SPD for several months afterwards. It was wild.

Rolex does a great job adjusting their movements these days. I hope more brands follow the example set by them and Omega and start guaranteeing really tight precision tolerances. In general, it should be possible for any free sprung balance movement maker to offer a significantly better than COSC precision guarantee. In order to better waterproof an elegant case, like of a Calatrava, A Reverso, a Duometre or a Souverain, for example, the design would demand considerable changes that would also make the case ugly and unbalanced.
It's unpractical, illogical and unneeded.

Honestly after wasting so much money yr on watches over the years I find ymself just wearing the f91w most of the time as my daily.

Tbh for a daily all you really need is either a citizen ecodrive (with a black leather strap) or an f91w. Then maybe treat yourself to another watch for special occasions. Unassuming, doesn't look try hard cringe, fits most lifestyles. And dont have to worry about damaging or scratching it.
