These are all very valid points, well said. Furthermore, the logo of VC triggers many of us because it has an undeniable similarity to the SS logo from Germany or even worse, the Christian cross. There is nothing wrong with that. Everyone has an individual concept of value. I don't even make that much and I have spent about $6,000 on watches. It all depends what you spend your money on. I only spent money on watches because I had money saved and got bored with nothing else to spend it on. I was on track to buy an $8000 watch but I don't feel comfortable spending over $2000 on a single watch unless it's a watch I wear almost daily.

Unironically nothing wrong with that but I will tell you if you have your heart set on a watch for years that you could actually comfortably acquire, don’t try to scratch the itch with something you don’t love but it’s cheaper.

For me I make around 65k and spent 40k on watches because of inheritance money. My collection still sucks compared to people who actually have a lot of money, so even if you spend more you still can feel inadequate. There are people who bought flashier watches who want a Patek and it eats away at them.

It’s never enough, just make sure you love it.

For me I approached money and watches in a Nuevo-riche sort. I had some bad influences in my life (gf) which exacerbated things, but at the end of the day it was my choice. I consciously didn’t want to, but I did without realizing it. You begin to realize buying designer brands or hype watches is not only low class but it also leaves you a man without a country. People with less money hate you for dunking of them and wealthier people think you are a nog.

If you really have money, and you have had it for a long time and you don’t have crippling insecurities, you still want nice things but you more importantly want to be left alone and not receive that kind of attention.

IWC and Panerai buy ETA movements.
Vacheron and Piaget (which larp as Haute Horlogerie) get some of their movements from Cartier.
https://watchbase.com/piaget/caliber/1110p
https://watchbase.com/vacheron-constantin/caliber/1326
And of course they never mention it on their websites. They even call these movements "manufacture". Imagine buying a 15k watch and realizing you get the same movement as in a 5k Cartier. That's deceptive marketing.

Just for that I'd stay away from ALS. They make some nice designs but you just can't trust Richemont.

I'm aware of ValFleurier (probably much more aware than you are). This is standard practice across the industry. Ever heard of La Joux-Perret? How about Kenissi? Vacheron uses 1 (one) outsourced movement in the most entry level FiftySix. The Polo is also an entry level model. Using movements from other manufacturers has been common practice since the dawn of wristwatches.
>you just can't trust Richemont
Lmao. As opposed to who? Patek who stops using the Geneva Seal so they can cut cost on their finishing while simultaneously raising prices? You couldn't be more cucked than by blowing a Patek AD to get on the preferred client list only to get offered a $40k Calatrava that is worse than a $25k Lange.

It reminds me of those really old and cheap Mercedes seniors drive. Rolex in general has been beaten to the ground by normies, it’s basically Jabari-tier to wear. It’s the guys who have a middle management job with BMWs who judge cars they feel lesser than and cut them off out of an illusion of superiority. Of course a Rolex is more well made than a BMW but that’s the direction the culture surrounding the watch brand has gone, not to mention the departure from the more understated and utilitarian designs of the past. Now they are flashier and shinier and get you robbed. I bought a Rolex and I don’t want any more of them I am going with more niche ultra-luxury tier watches to avoid the hype and association with these types.

My watches are in the 300-2000 dollar range. The one I want now is the tissot visodate but I’m trying to find it for less than 650. Just buy what you like and what you can afford. My nicest watch is a breitling and that was a gift. There are some really cool tissot, Hamilton, seiko, and longines watches that range from 200-2000+. I’m so poor I’ve been looking at the visodate for a few months lol. I’m moving so it’s hard for me to justify buying it outright at full price. Soon though

>Vacheron and Piaget (which larp as Haute Horlogerie) get some of their movements from Cartier.
Richemont brands go around and around in circles with their movements.
They have ValFleurier which makes movements for any Richemont brand to use, but then a bunch of the brands make their own movements too. Piaget makes their own movements that go in the Altiplano but use a Cartier movement in their Polo. Cartier, in turn, uses Piaget movements in their own extra-thin models.

VC uses movements from everyone including themselves.

As far as I know, the only Richemon brands who truly are able to put their own movement in every watch they make are ALS and JLC. ALS doesn't share with anyone (probably because that would make it hard to put "Swiss made" on the dial). Lots of brands use JLC movements (and being a movement designer for other brands is historically one of JLC's businesses.)

Oh, that's easy. I'll help you.

>Vacheron Constantin uses a Maltese cross which dates back to the 11th century and has been used by numerous Christian orders throughout history. The "Nazi Iron Cross" is a cross pattée. It's been used by various German military services since the early 1800s through to the present day. It's a different design altogether but it's an easy mistake to make when you're looking at a logo that's barely 3mm tall.

Like thinking a company would fire you for being a nazi and not just start generating poor performance reports and staff complaints untill they have pretext to get rid of you. That's assuming you are even right that a company cant fire you based on your beliefs or speech witch seems doubtful. I don't even know what you're talking about, but I'm pretty sure you have just never worked an actual job. It's extremely easy to get rid of an employee in America. If someone says they're a Buddhist, and I don't like Buddhists, I will give them a nonsensical schedule and make every effort to make their life harder, then give them a poor performance review so there is a papertrail and then terminate them. Corporate management does this every day and it is impossible to prove that they fired you for some other reason unless you literally say "I am going to fire you because you are a Buddhist."

>> No.17206229

Speaking as someone who actually has sued a former employer for wrongful termination, you're only describing situations where the person being illegally fired is also an idiot.

First rule, get everything in writing, all the time. If you follow that one rule, you cannot be caught out. Even if they want to accuse you of being a nazi, (which, by the way, is not illegal) they have to prove that your nazi beliefs created a hostile work environment.
