Just came back from store-sampling in my count with the gf. Fucking finally I'm in SOVLTOWN and there are frag stores everywhere stocked full of frags that this thread would consider niche. I saw a small shop full of Acqua di Parma, Caron and Etat Libre d'Orange, will go there to sample the 2 latter brands, especially Caron.
So I went to Douglas and tried all the Acqua di Parma they had, still amazed by their scents.
>Fico di Amalfi
so fucking good that my gf smelled it and wanted to buy it without even trying it on herself. Extremely natural fig tree/fig scent. Unfortunately performance seems weakish, around 3 hours.
>Mandorlo di Sicilia, Chinotto di Liguria, Oud
all good.
>Colonia Essenza
good citrusy and classy, better than Colonia. More refined and dated (in a good way) Dunhill Icon.
>Quercia
loved it on paper but not on me.
>Vaniglia
If you live vanilla, this is a great frag.
>Egoiste
smells close to canned olives, hard pass
>Platinum Egoiste
great barbershop frag. I will consider it in the future.
>Guerlain Habit Rouge
classic formal cologne. Very nice.

I can't believe I fell for the h24 meme. I have to agree with the other anon from last thread, if you've ever owned a cat you'd instantly recognize the headache inducing cat piss this frag gives. I did some research and it's definitely being shilled by that Jeremy guy who's apparently the Jordan Peterson of fragrances. The type of guy easily impressionable young men go for advice. I feel a bit embarrassed having blindly bought it now. Damn... Please forgive my shame, /fa/. I'll take the losses and spend more time researching on my own.

Lmao, how's H24 like catpiss? It's quite enjoyable the first seconds, you'll get that clean steam iron note, quickly turn sickeningly fruity-sweet.
Jeremy fragrance taste is probably trash, how can you create your own brand and make a fragrance that smell like Sauvage mixed with Aventus. Even up to day he shill for your typical ambroxan-citrus ass sweat water. Literally only pajeet or drunk vladimirs wear that kind of scents.

Free sample came in of Ralph's Club Parfum.

It's just another blue frag with the typical blue frag DNA. Well-rounded and unhateable for 85% of the population. Performance seemed to be acceptable, but I've only used 1 spray. Need to properly wear it again. Overall, if the performance of a full bottle matches the sample, I'd assume it would be a good office-safe blue freshie max compliment getter, but boring for the experienced nose. >”Of course!”
>I smell SR, can’t really tell if the paper sample gives it any credit so I tell her to spray my forearm.
>”Do you like it?”
>”I pretty much think so”
>After some banal chit chat about SR and her telling me she’s bored because people don’t usually stay to try a multiple frags and talk about them
>She suddenly asks “so will you get it?”
>”Well, I would like to see how it evolves throughout the day” tell her as well that I was interested in other brands
>”Well Guerlain is better than other brands that spent too much on marketing such as Carolina Herrera”
>”mmm okey”
>Tell her I really enjoy it and I may swing by in the evening to buy it.

Went to the mall today with my mom and while she was going to get groceries I went to try new frags as usual.
I decided to go to the Chanel section since I wanted to try Allure Homme Cologne because I want a citrus frag that doesn’t disappoint me.
>early thirties shopping attendant approaches. Petit blonde, brown eyes and with white pants and his shirt off that made him look as if he was constantly flexing, like he's a crackhead or something right out of the holocaust.

Yes and no, people have wildly different opinions on frags. You would be suprised. You can have a scent on like BI which you really enjoy, and a few others have complemented you on, but you never know if your future boss absolutely hates that one frag. I know it is kinda stupid to care too much about what others think of your frag, but if you miss out on a career oppertunity because of a frag, then it is absolutely worth wearing a people pleaser instead.

good mint frags don't exist, mint is most often used as a top note and "generated" by menthol, which is highly volatile and doesn't smell very natural
other frags that are more focused on mint tend to have questionable performance, and the better they get the further they stray away from mint
try Menthe Fraiche by Heely, though the performance is bad for a frag of that price, You or Someone Like You by ELDO if you don't mind something a bit sweeter and fruitier, or Enclave by Amouage if you don't mind something a lot more herbaceous and patchouli rich
don't even bother with Eau de Menthe by Dyptique, the performance is laughably bad

On the ones I've sampled:
>BR540 (tried the EdP)
Smells heavenly, but at the same time I wouldn't feel comfortable wearing it as a man. I think it's a very sensual scent and generally a perfume you'd love to smell on a person you like, rather than on yourself. If that makes any sense. Definitely worth sampling, because you should have smelled it at least once I think.
>Timbuktu
I have a full bottle of the recent formulation, never smelled the old one so I can't compare. I might be a bit biased because it's my all-time favorite frag, but I still think it's absolutely worth sampling, a very dry and airy vetiver making it ideal for hot temps, manly but not too much, mango isn't as prominent as people say. Fits my needs because it smells "different" but not polarizing, has decent projection but at the same time never feels obtrusive. Somewhat mysterious.
>Hermann
Definitely not a meme scent like some ELd'Os, I found it very nice smelling and clearly one of the best from their discovery set. Very natural rose with soil-notes, sadly the chemistry didn't work well with my nose and with only two sprays with the small atomizer I smelled it literally ALL THE TIME which tired out my nose fast, even physically with a burning sensation. Must have had an ingredient I've reacted to.

>> No.17196948

>>17196514
Current formulation Timbuktu I've heard is a lot worse. I have an older bottle and the most immediate comparison that comes to mind (though many might disagree) is Chypre Palatin. Both are by Duchaufour and both employ the same base chypre substructure. However, while CP runs in a warmer and fruiter direction Timbuktu is much more masculine, leaning into the woods, incense and smoke while remaining incredibly transparent and light. It has a beautiful duality, CP I find competent but nowhere near as "opulent" as many claim it to be.

A man can certainly pull off Le Cri if they wish to, it isn't an abrasively sweet designer floral but don't expect anything other than a pure floral and the associations that come with that. Others can disagree but I will, no matter how much I try, find many florals to have that base characteristic of powderiness, waxiness (for lack of a better term) and herbaceousness, in a sense that very particular and flowery aromatic quality they posses that personally gives me a feminine and mature association, smelling dated, especially when employed in a classic structure and Corticchiato, while innovative, works firmly in a tradition of French, classical perfumery. While there are florals that I do like they are more an accent or addition to an idea, not the star of the show, and Le Cri is centre fold a performance of rose and iris. Take that as you will, those without these associations, for which Luca clearly is one, might think otherwise and so this is as wearable a floral as any other pure, unsweetened floral, but to me they will nearly always lean on the mature feminine side, yet some can still pull this off, as I'm sure Luca, being an older man, could.

>Is BR540 feminine or masculine, is it wearable by a man who isn't metrosexual?
I'd say lean towards feminine, especially after every third girl wearing Cloud these days. I don't know what you mean by "metrosexual"; if you have no sense of fashion, then I'd say it's not wearable by a metrosexual

>Is Megamare wearable at all?
Yes, surely, but I can imagine it being offensive to some people

>Is Timbuktu really as good as Luca Turin says?
Not the current formulation.

>Is Hermann actually good or just gimmicky like a lot of ELDO scents?
Hermann is a great, soft, damp rose which has great longetivity. One of my future fragrances for sure.

>Is Le Cri de la Lumiere highly feminine?
I own a 5ml decant which I've worn - I'd say it's less feminine than DI because there is no prominent gourmand notes. However, there's clear aldehydes and powderiness so maybe it might associate with No.5 and a like fragrances. I personally like it eventhough I tend to masculine fougeres a like.

I mean, catchy names and fancy bottles are the primary ways brands sell frags to normies that only shop in malls. Doesn't mean the scent inside is bad, but I'm always suspicious of frags where it looks like more effort went into designing the bottle than the scent itself.

This is literally how they sell Paco Rabanne One Milllion to millions of high schoolers for prom every year
