eh, there's plenty of manly fougeres like sauvage elixir in the flowchart though
Bentley and Ferrari are some of the most famous cheapies and they should stay for that reason. I'd delete shit like Le Labo, Margiela or Xerjoff personally if anything - no need to give more attention to mediocre pseudo-niche brands, they get enough from paid-off youtubers already

>> No.17174678

>>17174673
I have all fougeres from the chart except for Sartorial and Gentiluomo. Nothing is close to Sauvage Elixir. I doubt anything in that chart can replicate the licorice showergel feel from Elixir. I'm also not sure if it fits the chart in any way, since it's pretty much still more of a blue ambrox oriental than a classic fougere.(my opinion).

Concentree? I had it a few years ago and it lasted pretty long on me.

>> No.17174693

I'm excited to see what the new perfume trends will be. I think the reign of blue frags is nearing its end, with Sauvage becoming so overused and designers searching for something new that will be the next big thing (as seen with Sauvage Elixir or H24)

>> No.17174697

>>17174691
I only have PM and PM EdP, to which Concentree is supposed to be close to. The most important thing here is that NYI is not really a chypre fragrance, but instead walks the line between chypre and fougere. It's start of more like a chypre frag and then turns into a fougere, with a few hours where it lingers inbetween. PM and PM EdP are very obvious chypres and almost prototypical of the genre, but they lack the complexity and development of NYI.

>> No.17174703

>>17174693
i think the new trend is going to be deep / complex masculine. instead of blue, it'll be dark green. no one wants molecule-type fragrances anymore. expect a lot of dihydromyrcenol.

>> No.17174709

>>17174703
lol that just sounds like Drakkar Noir is going to be in again
I'm not complaining though, I already have a bottle. I am prepared for this possiblity

I think you're dismissing molecular frags a bit too easily though, with Dior Homme 2020 and H24 it seems like designers are eager to push airy molecular frags after the success of things like Molecule 01

>> No.17174718

>>17174709
keep in mind that Le Labo's AnOther 13 came out in 2010, santal 33 in 2011. molecule 01 came out in 2006. that's a really long time ago. you smell molecule 01 and santal 33 literally everywhere if you live in a major city. they're already waning in popularity so there would be no reason for a designer to try to tap into that market. DH2020 and H24 were also basically failures.

I was. I was talking about Jeanne en Provence Neroli Intense. It would be a good replacement for Bright Neroli, but if it's not available in the US, it kinda sucks to include it in the chart. It's just unfortunate that Nicolai has such an offering as well, which is why some anons might have gotten confused.

I'd just ask. I was planning on e-mailing them about the discovery kit, because I want to try Amber Oud and I don't need a New York Intense sample, since I own a full bottle. Hello, I have a question.

I'm looking to explore more fragrances (I'm new to the game) and I'd just like to buy a small discovery set to vibe with at home. My local online store has the following discovery sets to offer:

Les Eaux Primordiales
diptyque
Memo Paris
Floraïku
Escentric Molecules (Art & Chemistry Discovery Set)
Escentric Molecules (M+ Discovery Set)

Everything else seems out of stock at the moment or a bit too expensive. Do you guys have anything to recommend, or maybe I should check out something else? Open to any suggestions about discovery sets I should look into. I live in Europe btw.

I'm a 24 year old male that tries hard to appear somewhat artsy and classy, but I don't know much about fragrances. I wear Dior Homme 2020 and I like it but I would like something more adventurous.

Thanks for any advice. My attached image was made with the Dall-E AI.

diptyque has some nice frags. escentric molecules is a meme brands, you can make their frags at home for 1/10th of the cost if you want to do some basic DYI
you could try the imaginary authors or essential parfums discovery sets too. or just get a bunch of samples that sound interesting to you. doesn't hurt to try stuff out IRL, even at Sephora you can find some interesting stuff hidden among all the generic blue frags and invictus wannabees if you know where to look

haha. I love fahrenheit, of all the frags I have tried it is the closest thing to a "signature" frag, even though I don't see myself always wearing it here.
It just love the violet and the leather, it's floral but masculine and intense, it's the smell of SEX. I love everything about that frag, from the name to the bottle and its reputation.
Really wish I could think the same for every 80ies powerhouse, as they are always the best performing designer frags. PRPH is interesting, but I still prefer Sung, which I guess smells dated too.

Yeah, Bois Imperial is really good, it could also be a summer scent on it's own.

When a scent is “hard to wear”, it basically means that a lot of people are not going to like it but some people will love it. For example, Tom Ford Black Orchid.

Honestly, should 4711 be part of the guide? it's really cheap and really simple.A giant bottle of it costs as much as 50mL of a cheap fragrance. I use it as a cologne and aftershave. I put it in an atomizer and use it as a spray on hand sanitizer or for cleaning things (where applicable). I even add it to cheap unscented lotion and it transforms the lotion into something that feels much more luxuriant. Not a bad beginner recommendation.
