I have a few watches, ranging from a few hundred to about $6k, but I am looking for an all purpose respectable / high quality beater.

Something around $1-1.5k, steel, with a leather/rubber/non-steel strap.

Where is the intersection between dings, scratches, throwing it in a drawer, taking it on long hikes, and letting it build character, and higher quality craftsmanship?

Montblanc? Breitling?

All of my current watches are ones I care about, and try to keep clean and perfect. Many of them have a 9-18k gold case, and one is fully 18k gold including the gold band. With this watch, I want the opposite: a high quality beater.

I believe that model is the first Sinn to use BGW9 superluminova, which should be a big change from your 556's C1. Much brighter and longer lasting.
Although longevity of lume also has to do with application and grain size and shit, but that's another story. General rule of thumb: if it's white in daylight it's probably going to be c1. If it glows blue in promo pics consider yourself lucky that it's BGW9. C1 is green glow.

I don't know about the one with the funny name, but I think Voutilainen uses modified JLC ebauches. But since he's the first guy to come up with the more intuitive decimal repeater system rather than how it's been for centuries then that makes at least that movement interesting. The Daniels-Smith coaxial is interesting though. Don't think they use any ebauche and their movements are home grown from the bottom, up. Aren't the 23 examples, or however many there are, of the Daniels watches with his coaxial still running fine all these years later without needing oiling? Smith apparently progressed with that design.
I think it's neat.
Fuck omega's cheapened bullshit mcdonalds version though.

The original strap is fucking terrible, it eats hair and is flimsy, build quality is alright in my opinion for a $150 retail quartz. However there's not much reason to buy it unless you really like the style/nostalgia.

Here is a list of the only watches you will ever need, poorfag or richfag. Anything not on this list is just excessive things to consoom:
>Quartz: Any Casio Edifice below 100, Casio Duro for water proof divers. Everything else is irrelevant.
>Automatic: Seiko, Orient or Tissot for Poors, Rolex for Rich.
>Inb4 Omega, Tudor, other "luxury" cope watches: You're not rich, actual rich people see a marked up Rolex as an entry level watch.
