I've been given three gifts over the years and I'm thinking it's time to dump them because any time i try them on I look like I'm going to a funeral. Nah tuxes usually have satin details (buttons, lapels, trimming) and they're almost always one button jackets with jetted pockets. Suits don't have any satin details, have flap or patch pockets and have two buttons.

Suits need to be more varied than just plain colours, pinstripes, and the occasional plaid pattern. If I could walk into a suit store and pick from a wide variety of all kinds of nicely patterned fabrics for My suits, I wouldn't have to look for nice-looking but low-quality shit that meets My needs made in chinese sweatshops. You don't even have the option of bringing them some fabric to just make a suit out of.

Nah you're just amerimutt-brained. Matching pocket square & tie a tacky look that screams "I don't know how to coordinate an outfit". A skillfully composed outfit will be balanced so that no one accessory will overpower any other. A matching pocket square & tie often overwhelms this balance and it becomes the only thing one's eyes are attracted to when looking at that person's chest area. This is similar to why I stay away from matching three piece suits, way too much of the same color/texture such that the accessories are not given any space to breathe. I much prefer an odd vest when going three piece.

A non-matching waistcoat with a 2-piece suit is fine. A matching tie and pocket square is also fine. I don't think it's necessarily a bad or good look, but I would agree that different ties and squares look better than matching. But it shouldn't be considered an absolute fashion crime to have a tie that matches your pocket square.
