Black bay 58 in blue
The small seamaster looks like shit
Or try the 39mm planet ocean, the case is shaped well so that it doesn't look like a big slab and it fits great on a smalller wrist, plus the dial and hands are better than the seamaster.

>> No.17166230

>>17166215
You know, I like the black and red ceramic seamaster, but if I got the BB58 I could get an old school blue wave seamaster to scratch that itch too.

Actually, this has made me realize I just want the one I posted. Not many people have a Seamaster in that colorway, which I like, and the gilt is a little overkill on the black bay.

I'm not a GS guy nor a weeb, but this specific model is incredible.

I bought my GW5000 in May last year using buyee.
Buyee allows you to buy things from Yahoo Auctions Japan, which is only usually available to Japanese buyers.
I used buyee as the number of UK sellers of the watch on eBay was usually 1 or 2 asking for a bit too much (£250 for a used one in decent condition was the going rate).
On Yahoo jp there were a lot more options, and I eventually settled on a used one in "good condition" that was manufactured in January 2021 from a highly rated seller for £157 (that includes Yahoo's fees).
On top of that you then have to pay additional fees as the seller in Japan sends it to buyee (you can pay an additional fee for them to inspect it, no idea how worthwhile that is), who then send it on to you, this cost me an additional £23. I did my research and chose EMS delivery which is passed on to Royal Mail who are slightly more lax in charging import fees than other delivery companies.
Luckily I was charged any import fees so the watch ended up costing £180, and it arrived in near mint condition with all the original packaging and tags. From when I bought the watch to when I received it took 10 days.

Yes. The japs invented luminova, a non radioactive replacement for tritium, some time in the late 80's or 90's.
The company was one of the many subsidiaries of Seiko. However, because Swiss laws back then weren't looser than a monkeypox spreader's anus as they are now the Swiss couldn't use it.
So this seiko subsidiary set up a joint venture company in Switzerland call RC Tritec in order to satisfy the swiss law about using japanese lume.
Chromalight is just the "special blend" of superluminova that's made for Rolex and rolex only. How it differs from stock superluminova?
Nobody knows.

> I'm terrified./

this is really concerning, friend: i'm sorry you live with that much stress and you my regard

> Man, you could have just told me to... go for it and get in to watchmaking.

i wouldn't want to give someone a false sense of security, especially when they're already living with such a heightened sense of concern
you probably 'could' bring your engineering skills and mindset into a watch-making and/or repair career and make a good go of it-- possibly even carving out some small niche for yourself where you'd be able to enjoy a quieter and more stable life -- but i've no idea if you have the collateral for the college courses and setting up a workshop so i'm not going to say: "yeah, throw caution to the wind and dive on in, the worst that can happen is you starve to death taking on too much work and increasing your stress levels as you discover your skills aren't quite up to the task of restoring 1950's Rolexes for profit" because that would be dumb advice to give to someone who has stated they're so wound up by working life that they're 'terrified'

of course, if you've already been putting together a small set of tools and unwinding from your hectic life by taking apart cheap movements, for the joy of putting them together again and feeling you've accomplished something tangible, then you're already on the way to retooling your skillset to the point where those college courses would be worth investing in
if you haven't been doing that, then maybe you should try it out for a year to see if you have the proficiency, giving yourself a little more insight and thereby not needing some internet wackjob to tell you to 'go for it'

> There is always the next second your client won't want you because of cost or you get bumped for a H1b poo. People are so so so cheap and don't see IT as a needed thing for a company

If you can afford it, loans are based.
I had the choice of buying my watch outright or taking a credit at 2.35% and not liquidating any assets.
That was in April. Official inflation is already 8%, so I got free money.

If you are so poor that you are forced to take a loan for a watch, you should not buy a watch.
