I hate rich people but unrelated to that I find him so distasteful. I dislike him even more than people who have more money than him. He's just so tacky and low class. I get that he's blunt and honest and without filter but he just comes off as displeasing. Even in his watch collection you can see that there is absolutely nothing of interest or originality there. He doesn't have any watch that is not an investment. The only redeeming quality I find in him is that he genuinely loves and enjoys his unremarkable watches. I'm a big proponent that there is no bad or inferior way to enjoy a hobby like watches. You can enjoy watches without owning a single watch and just looking and pictures and learning about watches or you can own every single watch and not know anything about watches. Whatever brings you joy is fine. Even then his enjoyment method is could be improved. He talks about his love of watches and how they look and even brings up the occasional uniqueness about a watch but he always reaches a dead end where he basically doesn't go beyond a sales pitch. He can afford to get someone to explain to him something significant about watch making. Not just the generic shit he talks about.

TLDR: a pile of expensive standards lacking any semblance of originality or uniqueness, nothing more than watches used like stocks

It and basically any Max Buesser piece, really an example of watchmaking as an art unto itself. Telling time or being accurate or being reliable or being tough, is all secondary to making an artful little machine.

Used to be cope, now I think they stand on their own with in-house movements that match Rolex specifications for performance if not quite accuracy. The BB GMT is functionally identical to a GMT Master II, but has a better bezel (with 48 clicks instead of 24 for 1/2 hour timezone offsets). The tudor matches on power reserve, antimagnetism, shock resistance, etc. while having better styling. Look at a rolex in person, the pepsi is more purple and burgundy than red and blue.

Not only that, but to increase the wealth of the upper class there needs to be a continuous growth of the population. Since large groups of people naturally start having less children, when it's no longer necessary in order to survive and the population has reached a certain size, they need to import more people. Sadly this is both harmful for the existing lower and middle class in Europe and also the very countries these migrants come from, by luring some of the most potentially useful people away.

Second hand market has decided the true value of this watch. If you don't agree with this price, buy something else.

I'm so sick of this juvenile understanding of the situation. Rolex does benefit because as long as most models are trading above MSRP, that means dealers will be able to foist the deadstock models that no one wants like the Explorer 2, Skydweller, YMs, Milgauss, ugly OPs, ugly DJs, women's DJs, etc onto people so that they can move up the list on a GMT or Daytona. If you think they aren't benefitting you're just a fucking idiot. Reasoning being you probably will go through towns and get laid and walking in in "durrrrr I am a HIKER look at my synthetic performance fabrics and bullshit bag" is not great as it screams you're somewhat poor.
