L'Eau d'Issey Pour Homme intense for smelling bizarre, dark, and synthetic, Declaration dun Soir, it was mostly pepper and green notes, not as much rose as I'd hoped. Toy Boy I gave to a friend who likes it much more than me, it's a cool fragrance but the cashmeran/sylkolide in the base is overwhelmingly boring once the quite nice top dries down. However much you feel comfortable with. It's a luxury item, which means it technically isn't necessary. Just like a watch, you wear it as an accessory. Some smartphone users skip having a watch entirely, others will buy smartwatches, others will buy high-end luxury or unique creations. Same with fragrances. You can do fine without, you can wear something on the cheaper side, you can go high-end or niche.

It has ever so slight similarities, but overall, I agree. People say that CW is like GIT, but it really isn't. GIT has that really bright violet note, which gives it that airy quality and makes it perfect as a summer frag, while CW does the amount of "aquatic" they put in it just right, adds some greens and florals, but not as easily identifiable specific notes.
Both are beautiful and GIT is still on my list, although as always I need a discount before I'm willing to buy.

>>17151281
Two reasons:
1. It was too strong for a designer frag, and too popular. The problem here is that L'Oreal needs to sell their diluted shit as designers for the regular prices, and then needs to create "niche" lines for potent stuff ("Les Exceptions" for Mugler, or "Armani Prive" for Giorgio Armani). Having a powerful, popular designer priced frag cuts into the margins of the faux-niche stuff.
2. General margin calculations. L'Oreal likes to cheap down bottles as well as fragrances. This stuff might have contained ingredients which would have put the price at 287$ if L'Oreal had applied their regular 4000% markup. To protect the margins, they had to discontinue it (otherwise the shareholders get unhappy).

Hi everyone, 22 year old guy, I don’t know anything about fragrances, I’ve got acqua di Parma colonia which i enjoy on hot days and bleu de Chanel edp which is my favourite I’ve smelt - yea I know it’s generic - I’d like something similar to bdc which is versatile just to change things up. Is terre dhermes worth a buy? (Not at my local store so would need to blind buy)

I should say I really don’t like Dior homme 2020, blue forever, the one, carbon, Tom ford black orchid was nasty too, allure etc all that to me smelt awful.

terre d'hermes is really nice. not super similar to BdC but similarly versatile. I wouldn't blind buy it though, not everyone likes it - you sure you can't try it out somewhere? it's a very popular frag, it should be available in some store near you unless you live in the middle of nowhere
also check out Chanel Platinum Egoiste and Hermes H24 if you can, both are nice versatile "any weather, any occasion" type frags while being pretty different from what you have

Yeah I think you’re right I’ll just have to travel to a proper store and try those you mentioned thanks man, do you second bois imperial seems kinda hard to get in the uk from what I’ve seen. Also heard mixed things about mancera intense.
Will definitely also try the h24

>> No.17152651

don't get H24 you dumbass it smells like synthetic luna park banana candies no joke, versatile if you work as a clown and your office is the circus. And don't fall for any niche meme shilled on here, it's the same guy with abysmal taste in fragrances. What you should do is go to a sephora/Douglas multiple times and try out all the designers that you can get your hands on. Skip all the overpriced 50 ml stuff like tom ford and see what you like.

You have been warned.

TdH can be very polarizing and you should know beforehand whether or not you like vetiver. Since you don't like DH2020, I wouldn't recommend it - there plenty of Iso-E Super in both.
You might be interested in La Nuit de L'Homme Bleu Electrique or Dior Sauvage (EdP version). Both are rather versatile, albeit a bit generic as well.

>>17152696
You can't - not many designer houses put formulation codes on their packaging. Dior would be one of them, but no L'Oreal owned designer does. I doubt any customer service of L'Oreal would answer you that. Frag forums or boards are the best source for this information.

Violets don't smell like lavender. Just go to a gardening store and smell violets and lavender, they often have both. Might even have iris.

>>17153521
I tried and it got me nowhere. Might have been weak google-fu, because Google ignored my search completely and only showed me information about the legality of buying tester bottles. I don't see why such testers should be a mandatory offer. You don't get champagne testers, either, and that stuff has similar bottle prices.

>> No.17153582

Do not google that. Google the laws about retail shops. Perfumes can be a small part of that law.
