What versatile signature fragrance would suit a black leather jacket, white shirt and jeans? I've tried Fahrenheit but found the current formulation really lacks performance. I've blind bought Encre Noire Sport but still waiting on it arriving.

It this /fa/ guide right? Problem is Dior Homme has been reformulated, Halston Z-14 has been reformulated and Incense: Jaisalmer has bad performance according to reviews.

what's the most balsamic, sacred and austere incense fragrance you can think of?
I'm on a mission to find the perfect incense frag and your input is very welcome
>what I tried before, adding stuff from last time
Incense City by AllSaints, hardly any incense, too powdery and vanilla-y
Incense by Franck Boclet, not enough incense, too much contour
CDG2 MAN, not enough incense
Bois d'Encens by Armani, too sweet and pricey
Rien Intense Incense by ELDO, too much diesel oil
Ikon by Zirh, too sweet, bit too much contour
This is Him! by Zadig & Voltaire, not enough incense, not very balsamic, lots of vanilla and other assorted spice
Eau Trois by Dyptique, good for the first 20 minutes, then it becomes more and more soapy and the performance is terrible on my skin
Vetiver by Le Labo, nicely balsamic and fresh, but too much vetiver
Full Incense by Montale, not very realistic, metallic
Fille en Aiguilles by Serge Lutens, not much incense all in all, much too sweet
Incense Extreme by Tauer, too dry and woody, almost leathery
Tiger's Nest by MEMO, good, if a bit too plain, and more expensive than what I'd like
L'Eau d'Issey pour Encens, too much of the overdone shower gel base
and surely some other stuff that I can't remember
Cardinal by Heeley, most realistic of the bunch, though not quite as balsamic as I'd like as it's not only focused on incense, also questionable performance
Incense: Avignon by CDG, less realistic Cardinal with slightly better longevity
also I'd rather stay away from discounted frags because of the availability and leavening prices
I'm looking at Casbah, Lavs, Ma Nishtana, Incense: Zagorsk, and Kokain White Intense, though I can't for the life of me find samples of these and I'm not going to blind buy bottles with this prices, aside from maybe Kokain

Interesting category. IMO the best ones are Full Incense, Murkwood, Memoir Man, Epic Man.
You could also try Lubin frim Akkard.
Casbah was a disappointing for me, it's more an oriental style of incense.
Rien is smoky and have that leathery shoe cream note, i dig it, but the rose destroys everything.
You should also don't have huge hopes with cheaper incense scents like the one from Rammstein. The good ones are unfortunately expensive.

>Also how does ombre leather compare to la yuqawam
I haven't smelled la yuqawam, but I have smelled tuscan leather, which it's supposed to be a clone of
ombre leather is less ashy, more ambery and overall a more easy to wear version of the DNA that won't put people off. the opening is full on leather, but it calms down to a nice ambery, sweet, smoky scent

but desu Dior Homme Parfum is my favorite designer leather, it's more complex and less in your face than either of the tom fords, a lot going on in it beside the leather

You need to try Diptyque L'Eau Trois. It's all about unburnt frankincense and myrrh resin (not smoky), along with bitter green herbal notes and pine. Imagine stumbling upon ancient overgrown church ruins in southern Greece; that's what L'Eau Trois smells like. I find it more "challenging" than Avignon et al, but it has an austere, holy vibe that's really beautiful. Also it came out in 1975 so it's pretty much the OG niche incense frag. Great stuff.

Also Lavs and Zagorsk are both great, so def try to track those down. And you didn't mention it, but Incense: Ouarzazate is a great tangy frankincense that works well in hot weather unlike most incense frags, so check that one out too if you get a chance.

I don't know, I'm kind of lost with all the fragrance families honestly, it's difficult to figure out what I like most. So far I seem to enjoy florals, spicy-fruity natural smelling frags, whatever Antaeus is, and fougeres like Meme water and Green Irish tweed. Just received my blind-ordered bottle of CdG's long-discontinued Luxe Patchouli EDT. The initial blast is peppery and syrupy with brown sugar vibes (which is apparently what immortelle flower smells like). I was kind of disappointed by the heavy sweetness at first, but as it dries down the patchouli opens up more and all of a sudden it becomes really sexy and, yes, luxe. I also get a slight note of nail varnish that works very well in this context.
I definitely need to spend more time with it, but I'm glad I bought it even if it's not the ultimate patchouli I was (foolishly) hoping for. For now, Santa Maria Novella Patchouli still holds that title for me (hon. mention to Diptyque Tempo and Etro Patchouly)

I quite like H24 actually, but I get why you could get jelly bears out of it and end up disliking it. to me it's more of an unripe banana / melon opening followed by some florals, heat-scorched grass and freshly ironed clothes. pretty unique but also subtle and inoffensive yet with decent performance, might cop a bottle

the other one I've tried more extensively is Cerruti 1881, it's a green citrus floral, somewhat reminiscent of both Eau Sauvage and Boucheron. doesn't last long, but smells very nice for the price, feels lighter and more summery than Boucheron

I'll be sure to give my thoughts on the others once I test them properly

To me the opening is the worst of that fragrance, a complete mess of notes with citrus/woods/vanilla and what not. I love when it fucks off.
Drydown is a strong masculine chypre/fougere accord, very mossy, can smell a little dated to some. According to my gf, the sillage smells soapy. I don't get that when sniffing it on skin. I'm sure that this isn't a crowdpleaser, but I like it. It also lasts really long on me.

I've also purchased the discovery kit and still have some samples left for trying, but I'm done with their "Orange Extraordinaire" line, the one with the dark bottles and the golden emblems.

I must say that they're some of the most unnatural-smelling (synthetic) and offensive fragrances I've had the displeasure of smelling so far. They all have the same (overpowering) signature rose note, which I think is intended, but they're without any balance otherwise, like take Soul of my Soul for example. It projected hard for 3 hours, but during that time it smelled like an undefined hot mess; I couldn't make out a single note except for that underlying synthetic rose, which admittedly, is unique to that line. With the exception of 500 Years, which managed to even it out a bit (with the cocoa I guess?) there was absolutely nothing I could ever imagine wearing. Very disappointed with that line.
