For me? It's the Rolex Explorer.
Sturdy, reliable, low-key, versatile, timeless...
Sure, it's not the most expensive Rolex nor the most blingy. But as a daily watch? You can't beat it.
Gosh I love this watch.

/n/ here. Initially thanks to my dad, I now have three Citizen watches from different acrobatic teams from around the world (dad's Blue Angels one, Red Devil's that I bought from my brother and Blue Impulse that I bought myself). Being an aviation fan, I tried searching on Citizen's webpage for other watches based on acrobatic squadrons, but I seem to find only the Blue Angels version (I don't know if this is the most popular version or if the search results are locked by localization).

So, my question is: anyone knows what other acrobatic squadrons have Citizen Watches? Or better yet, is there a catalogue for these editions?

Should have been 36mm. (Or if not, then at least as small as can be made with that movement.) The dial looks too empty and out-of-proportion at 39mm.
All brushed just looks cheap. Polish the bezel and the sides of the links.

I can't tell if that's fauxtina or just old-school greenish-yellow C3 Superluminova. If it's C3, then it's fine. That stuff is super bright and long-lasting.

Hey, my friend. I used to have insurance, but to be honest, given that the value of the entire collection reaches above half a million by now, the premiums were too fucking high, enough for me to buy another very good watch every year or so, so didn't made sense anymore, and now I just risk it a bit. However, I always take the time to assess which watches I can take where I'm going, so that I don't attract unwanted attention.
If you are worried about your watches being stolen, I would suggest insuring only those that you consider too difficult to replace, not all of them. And always use common sense according to where you are going to be.

Rolex gets very triggered at being presented in a bad light in movies, so they demanded all references removed. As I recall they couldn't even be named in an Alec Baldwin film since he said "This watch cost more than your car" and Rolex didn't want to be seen as an icon of rampant excess.

Also in American Psycho, the book says "Don't touch the Rolex" but it was changed to "Don't touch the watch" in the movie, along with all other utterances of Rolex being removed.

You also won't get a GMT Master 2 for $10,550. You'll probably never get one as your first Rolex unless you go grey market in which case you can prepare to get raped financially.

I'd recommend waiting on the Tiffany to see their new lineup, or just going over to an entry level Cartier tank or Reverso.

Not at authorized dealers, but demand is so high that there are waiting lists for every model. Popular models' waiting lists can be yearslong. On the second hand market, a new-condition Rolex will often be sold at well above MSRP.

>What’s the shenanigans people have to go through to get their hands on one?
Either put your name on an AD's waiting list and wait. Or, buy a whole bunch of other products from that AD (jewelry, other watches, etc) and turn yourself into a valued customer, so that your time on the list will be a little shorter.
Or, just buy a watch off the gray/second-hand market. You'll pay a little more, but you'll get exactly the watch you want immediately.

>I was just wanting to get the basic oystersteel model.
The waiting list for those is just a few weeks, by all current accounts, so your best bet is to simply go to your AD (physically go there, not by phone) and express your interest in a particular model. This way you'll also have a warranty.

My understanding is that Tiffany has been working on updating and probably replacing many of their existing watches but they haven't shown off what they're going to be releasing yet. I'd expect them to kill off most of the existing models and ideally work with Bulgari or Zenith to release some higher end pieces.
>>17128581
Rolex hasn't been able to meet astronomically rising demand the last several years which culminates in pre-owned pieces being sold over MSRP with grey market watches being sold way over MSRP. ADs are in charge of distribution meaning they decide which watches go to who. This means customers with a purchase history get watches first, or people who are willing to buy a bunch of deadstock will get the call sooner. You can get a basic steel model fairly easily as a first time buyer but it depends on what it is. You're not getting a steel Daytona, and probably not getting a steel GMT. But you can probably get a steel DJ or Oyster Perpetual.

The short answer is that making such a movement is highly complex and Rolex has never shown much too enthusiasm for complicated movements unless they can put them in extremely high-volume models (and preferably in multiple model lines).
When that calendar chronograph was made, Rolex still bought their movements from 3rd party suppliers.

Aren't some of these covered from "sudden and accidental loss" through your homeowner's policy without specifically scheduling them (subject to policy limits, of course)? I know my little 40k is covered under my homeowners policy while in my house, but I schedule them separately for events outside my house (i.e. theft). My premiums are minimal (like 100 buck a year) through USAA. If you live a in monster house, you should consider a big dick carrier like Chubb, CNA, Zurich, or a Lloyd's subsidiary. They often have specialty policy endorsements for these types of things with extended limits based on your income and risk profile.
Also, if you do get robbed, tell them you got robbed WHILE GETTING OUT OF YOUR CAR. That way, it becomes an issue for your auto insurance and will be covered outside of your homeowner's policy and not subject to any of its endorsements/exclusions.
