Here's Roger Smith on the topic
>The screws are never aligned because it would be a very difficult engineering task to make sure that the start of each thread within the dial plate began in exactly the same orientation ... the length of the screw thread from the start of its thread to the underside of the screw-head would be critical and you would have to achieve ridiculously close tolerances.

This is why there are even "misaligned" screws on Greubel Forseys and they're arguably some of the most competent technical watchmakers in the world. The Royal Oak is an exception because of some trickery where the "screws" are actually bolts and if you look at the underside of the case they are - shocker - not aligned. So they're really not an exception, they've just cleverly disguised it.

Brand new, this watch (the Atlas collection) is usually $2700. The steel band makes it $3200.

Used, and in great condition, it often runs for $1600-ish.

Their flagship men's watch, the CT60 is around $3500, and is much more conservative in its design.

>> No.17124672

I've always wondered why Tiffany & Co wasn't a larger player. Like you said, they could absolutely demolish the watch market if they took it more seriously. For now, outside of the CT60, they are comparatively unpopular as hell. Even the CT60 doesn't compare to the sales of the lower Oyster Perpetual.

I should clarify: the Atlas collection is quartz, the CT60 is automatic. I believe the Atlas collection may have, or used to have, automatic options, but they are typically basic quartz.

im the tiffany guy from the last thread. Take a look at what LV brought to the Grand Prix d’Horlogerie de Genève to get an idea of the direction they could go in. The relationship with Patek is still strong so i believe tiffany signed dials will still remain a thing between us. The CT60 may have outstayed its welcome, initial design was introduced in 1945 as a gift for FDR and was brought back to jumpstart modern tiffany watches. Initially they were made to be modular, offering a few different case metals, dials, bracelets, and straps you could pick from. Sales were not to the company's liking and they were actually discontinued once before but were brought back because of the lack of any other options. Im not expecting to see many tiffany blue dials on the new lineup, LV feels that the blue is only for elevated items and is cutting back on it within the company as a whole.

>It can't cost more than a few hundred can it?
Yes, I'd bet that engraving cost about the same as the watch. High end engraving (no, not the type done by some retard with Parkinson's on etsy for $100) is extremely time consuming, difficult, and most of all importantly aren't many people who do it anymore. The subject is fascinating historically but I find it quite tacky on a watch. I certainly wouldn't turn down a Holland & Holland though.

The GMT Master II retail price is 10k€, they're selling for 25k€ right now. Even if flippers made 2k€ out of it, that would still be an insane profit.
Take a look at pic related. Price are dropping yes, but we're still far from pre-COVID price where Rolex already sold for way more than their MSRP.
