"Pure Black" by Mandarina Duck is really good. It has a nice and dark sandalwood and vanilla and tonka bean. And it is really cheap. It is from 2009 though. And the sillage isnt fantastic.

You get an arms length for an hour on 1-2 sprays and then it is a skin scent for the rest of the time. So I would spray this a bit liberally Maybe even on clothes. But it is very masculine and very nice smelling.But it is less than $30 and it is worth it.

Another recommendation is "Kouros" by Yves Saint Laurent. It is from the 80s, it is slightly above your budget, and it is a controversial one. I remember it used to be very popular in the 80s and 90s. Some people think that the musk is too animalic and "urine" like. I have never smelled that, there are others like Khiel's Musk where I can smell a urine note, but I don't smell it on Kouros. I love Kouros, but read up on it. It might be worth it, it is very animalic and sexy tho

I have no idea what the ultra blue smells like. The black one is the standard. The sillage is not a lot, which makes it a good office smell. People will smell it if they are near you, but not on the other side of the office. But it is one of those where it doesn't hurt to "top up" the smell a bit during the day if you think it is weakened. It might not last 8 hours at the office.

But it smells very nice, you can't go wrong in an office with it.

Because the entire brand is about posturing and selling a lifestyle to people and their marketing department decided that that name would resonate with consumers. It's not like most people that buy perfume even know what smells good or bad

Pic related took me by surprise when I received a free sample with my purchase, as neither Kenzo nor Quentin Bish were really on my radar. Performance is amazing on my skin, the scent itself might be related to the other stuff Bish put out recently, no idea, but it's very hard to describe. Not a typical aquatic by any means, even though it might look like that. Can recommend sampling this if you get the chance, it might be hit or miss for some people, but it's really special compared to other recent designer stuff.

Thoughts on Secretions Magnifiques? Got a sample of it, and I'm not sure if this is overrated as foul smelling or if I just can't sense it correctly. On paper I smell what I'd describe as milky coconut floral scent, but after inhaling fresh air I get a metallic, light groin sweat smell aftertaste, which I'd guess is the one described as repulsive.

I've used those in particular, and they work well enough. Probably not as good as some of the high end ultra-fine atomizers.
My problem is cleaning them if I swap scents, I've rinsed, used soap, used isopropyl, and left for weeks to air out and it still has hints of citrus and pepper.

Dua Fragnances has a perfume called "The Conqueror" that is inspired by Alexandria II by Xerjoff. There is a website that sells samples from dua as well.

Dua has fantastic performance in pretty much everything they release. Often better performance than the original it is inspired from. I would have a look there. Might be a cheaper alternative

Their bottles are horrible. But their perfumes are pretty great. ESPECIALLY performance, they have pretty much nothing that lasts less than 12 hours.

And their own original blends is pretty good. Pretiosum Vetiverum is one of my favourite vetiver fragrances. But they really need to find another source for bottles. Never seen anyone make a cheaper-looking bottle. But the perfumes are good and good value.

This isn't a useful question. For some people price doesn't matter and blind buy $400 fragrances on a lark. Other people compare it to others that they view as similar quality price wise while some think a high price is a deal breaker and don't think anything is worth $100 or more per 50 ml. Get a sample and try it and feel if you think it is worth it yourself.

I can't find a review for the higher priced musks from ASQ. The entry level just deer musk one is apparently full on barnyard, i think it was described as being locked in hot barn full of livestock shitting. I think the higher end ones are a little more reserved than that but i haven't had the balls to order. Gotta be honest, I don't have issues with all of the large companies. LVMH owns both Dior and Guerlain, but both houses still have in-house perfumers and manage to create good fragrances. Kenzo is also owned by LVMH and although I have no interest in their fragrances, many people in these threads talk positively about them.
