Realistically, there's alot of nice hand-winding watches from non-known brands (aka not Omega, Longines). Another potential deal is Poljot Alarm Watches, where the calibre of an alarm function on a mechanical watch. 9 times of out 10, vintage ladies watches are really, really cheap cause nobody wants them. And I bet no one on /fa/ wants to wear a dingey ladies watch.

But realistically, stay away from anything chronograph related if your looking for deals. People really like vintage chrongraphs (muh unique movement) so they are really expensive. Best thing also is the garage sale or charity store, where you're dealing with sellers that don't know how to price their watches.

I can attest, both the old 70s Seiko movements (in Seiko Bullhead, Pogue, Panda) and Citizen movements (bullhead, spider) are ticking time bombs. both have vertical clutches that are a massive trek to replace. Also, massive number of fakes and frakenwatches on market. However, still better than any new seiko automatic chronograph that 3.5k LOL. they are so valuable because seiko's new chronographs that aren't mecha-quartz or spring drive are fleecing exercises.

You can litterally get these designs from Orient for less. Hardlex crystals look like complete shit after being scratched, sapphire beats them out. The Chronographs look like shit to competition that charges half with Seiko's own chronograph. Moreso, the watches that were smaller (and not look huge) have been completly discontinued. Like, it you have a small ass wrist, a SKX013 would fit a hell of alot better than any other wrist. But that watch has been killed off by Seiko.

The YMII is just grotesque, even if the movement is kind of interesting.

The YM42, though, is beautiful, especially in rose gold. A great fuck-you watch, nice and sporty, but still on the tasteful side of obnoxious. It is a big watch, though, and wristlets need not apply.

This is a tough one. I love the way it looks. The measurements are alarming at almost 44mm diameter and almost 52mm lug to lug, but it's titanium and might wear smaller than its measurements indicate like most Seikos.

It's also $11,600 which is pushing into serious watch territory. Still it is the first GS diver I've ever looked at and thought it looks good. Great evolution from GS who have frankly been floundering with their divers and chronos for years.

pretty sure the watchmaker is trying to rip me off
ive got a beater quartz hamilton khaki and the movement just died last week
asked the watchmaker what it costs to swap it out (it's got a 20ish € ETA quartz movement) he told me he'd have to open it up and ask Hamilton himself it took him two weeks to do so and he would only put in an original "hamilton movement" and the movement alone would cost 75-80€ and there's no way to fit in any other quartz movement
how feasible is it for me to get the old movement off of eBay and swap it out myself? the videos I've seen don't look very intimidating

Short sleeves are for bus drivers. You can just fold long sleeves up. To do that, simply unbutton and then keep folding the cuff part up. Do clean folds, don't roll. Also no pocket(s). I don't like patterned shirts, but that's up to you. Also white shoes with blue jeans is a basic bitch combo.

After using a Pelagos quick ajust strap for years I'm really afraid of buying a watch without that essential feature I use often. Outside in the heat and after a workout I need to expand by a click and after sitting in the AC for a while I might have to tighten by another click. I don't like loose bracelets. I haven't seen the GS diving clasp in person yet but it doesn't look premium or practical in person, expanding the ratcheting would expose the thin band out of the clasp, a part that doesn't flex ? It just make the band longer and it stays flat.

Tudor is switching all the lineup to quick ajust, that's what people want.

Longines is also introducing quick ajust on leather straps, like Formex have been doing for a while.

Those 2 brands have been on the rise lately, for good reasons.

What do you think about the GMT master ii 16713? Last two-tone gmt before the horrible maxicases came in.
I remember seeing one of these in a shop window once, must've been 6 or 7 years old at the time, and was enamored by the contrast of the black and the gold.
Any caveats anyone knows about in picking one of these up?
I recall reading once that two-tone subs and gmts are not recommended 2nd hand as the gold parts means bracelets stretch horribly if you buy one that's been well used. But besides that I don't know of any technical problems.
Stylistically?
They seem to be almost always cheaper than plain SS gmt masters of the same range.

There's a place in my city run by some Russians that sell fake Rolex, Cartier etc for about $40. They wouldn't fool a professional watch dealer for a moment but the average person never knows and even fags on here never know.

The problem is that they go to shit after a year since the glass and case scratches up like crazy. They keep surprisingly good time though, I haven't checked the internals of one yet but generally they're all quartz with the occasional automatic thrown in for an extra cost.

If you want a good fake, you have to look online and you'll probably spend about $200 or more. Those fakes are so good that even professionals have a hard time telling the difference and some well respected dealer a few years back ended up buying and reselling one by mistake.
