Good choices. I would personally extend the 1960s all the way back to 1960, or maybe even circa 1957/1958 for the rise in the fashion for narrow lapels and ties, though they sometimes existed before that, as well. Then, maybe the very early 1970s could trail along with the 1960s aesthetics, although clearly, clothing by then looked different from the late 1950s, early 1960s. I feel like bringing back two different eras of fashion, there.

Certainly—though with the late 1950s and late 1960s, the differences in terms of silhouette are night and day. The Halterneck dress was still very much in style in '57 and disappeared by the mid '60s. By the early 60s the silhouette for women was much slimmer with shift dresses. Think Jackie Kennedy and Jean Shrimpton. By 1966 you get the miniskirt and Twiggy and at that point I'm very much reminded of the entire decade of the 20s, which in my view did not have such drastic changes as the 60s did. The silhouette for both men and women were very slim and 'androgyny' as we understand it also came into popularity in both decades. The 'look' in the late '60s just reminds me very much of actresses like Louise Brooks, Clara Bow, and Colleen Moore, and I think the times were very much in agreement.

It's a slightly earlier look than my preference, but still good. Also, I like the idea of the post-war 1940s dress sense more than the actual fashions, into the early 1950s. Menswear got very wide. A slimmer form of that started emerging by 1966 or 1967, but which especially got extreme in the early 1970s, at times effective for the wearer, and at times not much.

Other people dressed them, usually more than one person so probably not that long, henry the 8th even had his own arse wiper who was one of the most important and powerful people in the royal court funnily enough.

>1920s Sewing Philosophy
In the 1920s, there was a heavy push to re-imagine clothing construction so that people could continue to make their own clothing, but for it to take less time out of their lives. It came in right after the Victorians and Edwardians, who did not value labor very highly and encouraged the complete opposite. However, unlike today, 1920s dressmakers were not interested in making things cheaper; just easier to construct, practical in a modern way but still equal quality. I wish we could go back to this mindset of design, this idea of trying to make clothing modern, convenient but NOT cheap, sloppy and second-rate right off the rack.

>18th century / 19th century Layering
I want to go back to layering in practical, functional ways; I now wear a t-shirt dress under '90s denim sleeveless dresses during the day, take off the denim and then sleep in the same t-shirt dress. I've cut out sleepwear, except for a winter robe, without actually "losing" anything/going without. I technically don't wear any more articles a day then a normie, but because I'm layering like this I can adjust for weather changes (switch between shirt sleeve lengths, fabrics) and stuff while technically owning less overall.

I think the "modern" way to toga would be to wear a simple skirt that has a long section of fabric sewn onto one side of it and then you would wrap it up your body. I think a modern t-shirt of the same color as the skirt would pair nicely with it and using a sewing machine over hand-stitches would give it a clean, modern edge that would communicate you're not wearing a costume, but a modernized garment.

I miss the varied fabric types pattern and texture of pre-20th c. clothing. The myriad of different options and the specificity of clothing for occasions and purposes.

Layering is definitely a way to bring interest and more complexity of color and texture to outfits, and layering allows practical purpose of keeping exterior layers of finer clothing free of perspiration and soiling.
