Depends. You can take it to a local watchmaker to give it a once over and it will run fine. It's a simple movement, wouldn't cost more than a hundred bucks.
If you want to have it restored to perfection by VC, they'll do it without hesitation but as for the cost, as they say, "If you have to ask, you can't afford it."

Probably a scam but I figured I'd ask yall that probably have more and nicer watches than me.

Found a "vintage seiko" on ebay that is portrayed as recently serviced and looks brand new in photos and they're all about $40. Similar 5 series seikos are like $120+ now Saw the seller only had 1 positive feedback and went looking for the same watch. Found at least 3 other sellers with way more positive feedback and lo and behold they're all located in some indian city or whatever. Shipping is free and estimated to take about a month.

This is a scam, right? Its one of those "this feels too good to be true" things.

I can tell you've been stricken with crippling autism; that's unfortunate. I'll explain it to you like a child.

UNIRONIC means sincere. Big boy is what's called an idiom meaning that when I say big boy watch, I'm not actually talking about watches sized for men of large stature. Now I know this is tough for you to wrap your 80 IQ mind around, but stay with me. I'm speaking in the idiomatic sense. "Big boys" often refer to the most prominent or powerful members of a given group. So an UNIRONIC, BIG BOY watch would be something in the upper echelon of watchmaking, a watch sincerely made up for the most prominent or powerful members of a given group.

Speaking IRONICALLY means you're not sincere. That means IRONIC BIG BOY means it's NOT actually for the most prominent or powerful members of a given group. Hence the distinction. I know it's difficult to wrestle meaning from the English language when your life is relegated entirely to seething about memes in a watch thread, but keep at it! One day you won't come across as a complete retard.

They're just watches. If you like the way an older one looks, get it instead.

men's fashion in general is clipped at the wings because peer pressure is absolutely insane between man in everywhere but the gay capitals and to get away with being eccentric without people outright punishing your social presence you need to be comfortably rich, and there's plenty of rich people without taste, so the result is that you get

>Do movements “break in”? I swear my turtle is keeping good time now
Yes, they do. Not as much as they used to, since materials and manufacturing processes have improved.
Most of the changes in accuracy and precision that you see when you've been running a movement for a while is the lubricating oils distributing themselves throughout the movement. When the movement has been sitting for a while, those oils can begin to pool in one area and create drag in the gear train or on the balance staff.

Accutron was a line of watches made by Bulova in the US, around 1960. It was one of the first electric watches. Interestingly it does not use a quartz oscillator.

That particular model, referred to as the SpaceView, was never actually intended to be sold to the public. The transparent dial was a demonstrator for salesmen to be able to show how radically different the Accutron was compared to a normal mechanical watch. Of course, people wanted the SpaceView and Bulova quickly caved.

Yeah. Now what's really funny is that a few years ago, Bulova-Accutron decided to re-release the watch in celebration of it's 50th anniversary. Most Accutrons these days are just normal quartz, but the company wanted to also re-release the electric tuning fork movement.

The only problem was that there was no one left at the company who knew how they worked, so they basically had to completely re-engineer this now-obsolete technology from scratch.

The general design feels very early 2000s (which might be the worst era for industrial design). The fact you're wearing it on white nato doesnt help...
Also, what kind of watch is it? It's not a dress watch since it has a crown guard and luminova, but it's not a tool watch either.
