i'd recommend taking a look at the new balance 574. it's got a very similar silhouette to that nike shoe, but comes in some workable colors - although to be fair, i don't know what other colors the nikes come in.

I've owned two pair of adidas forum.
The first pair were the ADV and those absolutely fucked my feet. The fit is really wacked on those.
The next pair are some collab with a middle eastern designer. I wore those for the first time on a trip, and that was an absolute mistake. The plastic heel counter on those shoes is one of the hardest materials I've ever felt on a shoe, and my heel wore raw to the point it bled through my socks onto the leather interior. I've tried using a hairdryer to heat it up and meld it to my foot, but holy shit do those shoes have the worst break-in period I've ever had.

You have to baby the upper, if you get a hole in it somewhere the entire shoe disintegrates almost instantly and the sole will walk through sooner or later leaving the very vulnerable boost layer completely exposed.

If you only wear them to town and don't go clubbing or anything where they'd get put through the ringer they are fine and will last, but you can't really use shoes like that the way you can a leather beater and expect them to last.

Asian quality was higher and the shoes more comfortable, though sizes are limited. you'll find a larger range of sizes in the americas but lower quality (again, in my experience). if you can get it from a chinese seller in your size, they're great!

Thursday isn't a "workboot maker", they are a fashion start up and both their quality and QC are notoriously bad, their sneakers and boots are liable to fall apart quicker than most of the sports brands you've probably tried.

I'd recommend Artisan Lab or Svenssons, both are great.
Personally I've been using a pair of Artisan Lab's Classic Sneakers as my daily beaters for the better part of 2 years now and they still look great. I'd guess the Margom sole still has easily 5+ years of heavy use on it and while the leather upper obviously has scuffs and slight discolorations in spots they only add to the charm in my opinion.

Totally agree on all the vegan and recycling shit though.
For clothes I do pay some attention to it and will generally prefer pieces sourced with sustainability in mind, but not for shoes.

The only simple UBs were the original ones, they've gone further and further with more and more eye-catching ones ever since.
They do release new Stans pretty often but they are all fucking horrible <insert popular IP here> type collabs, and just in general are all vegan leather garbage or straight up plastic and not the leather ones people actually want anymore.
