Finally got meself a Sauvage eau de perfume sample.

It was.... underwhelming

The opening is sweet but not too sweet, but I felt like this is supposed to be the frag everyone rave about? I tried Eau Sauvage cologne and fell in love with its smell so I was expecting Sauvage to be on the same level as Eau Sauvage but... it just not that great, it's okay I guess, and no, this is not because I'm following the "I hate Sauvage because it's overused" hype train. I would say it's more feminine, though your mileage may vary. It's certainly not your average super sweet or light modern women's perfume though so it might be decently unisex nowadays. I'd say it's worth a shot if you like classically styled Guerlain female frags like Mitsuoko and want something with a lot of sandalwood. I hear the vintage has one of the highest mysore sandalwood contents in western perfumery, though I've only smelled the modern version

Smells really close, if not 1:1, though. Gonna observe the performance.
(Also I still like Drakkar Noir without sleazecore larping, it's fresh, clean and bright-green.)

Because if you're straight and masculine and you're sure about your sexuality, it will make you stand out. If you're already doubting yourself, Dior's iris frags will make you feel gay (because you are, just still in the closet). >how is wearing a feminine fragrance gay?
Same way way that wearing a feminine dress is gay.

Appropriateness of a fragrance is defined by culture, and whether the individual can pull off the fragrance in a "believable" manner. While it is true that anyone can wear whatever they want, it doesn't preclude them from judgement if they choose to wear something they can't pull off. Whether one can pull off something is based on how "believable" it feels to the audience for this individual to wear this fragrance. Whether it "makes sense" to them to smell a certain fragrance on an individual is largely due to the cultural background of the observer. Wearing iris fragrances makes you smell like a women. Unless you want to portray being a twink, it isn’t a good look for a straight man.

Yes but wearing a dress and iris perfume as a male says the same thing. It says, “I suck cock and eat ass and get fucked in the ass with cocks and eat cum.”

I’m amazed at how many people here have no set awareness. They are quick to say “Guerlain vetiver smells old” but don’t realize that dior homo smells like a faggot.

masculine fragrance have been corrupted by convincing men that a type of fragrance can/will attract women (an inversion of the sexual roles, where men appeal to women through bodily performance rather than competence and provision). That's not to say that dark, heavy, rugged, mossy aromas are less masculine or even equally masculine as the modern sweet gourmands or lipsticky iris 'office' scents. Of course they're more masculine/less feminine, this doesn't need teasing out; dry buttery sandalwoods, mosses, resins etc are not as feminine as iris/violet and thick slabs of sweet edible vanilla. But it's the insertion of a particular illusory concept of aggressive female arousal in response to men wearing a certain type of fragrance - a kind of kayfabe that starts in advertising but spreads in to the wider culture, where it is treated like a half-truth - that is the issue. The conceit that has been used by advertisers to sell fragrance to men is that the fragrance itself could add masculinity to the man, i.e. consumption is how one builds/makes an 'identity', and that women will find this aroma inherently alluring. The issue with treating this conceit as a half-truth is the fact that it obscures how the notion has played a part in changing the way men think about women, seduction, and the role of pursuit/presentation. The culture is changed through advertising - particularly for the young and impressionable, who take it as authority/concrete guidance. There is a half-truth to women finding perfume appealing or attractive, but advertising uses that half-truth and basically tries to pretend the other half is what is 'real'. I think this has caused some confusion; eventhough few would admit it, I get the sense some have internalised at least some of the dubious half-truth. I reckon I probably did when I was a teenager, it was only through doing/action that I learnt the difference between theory and practice, so to speak.

Parfum is way too woody o wear in the heat. There are pretty big differences in the BdC line.
