Reposting from old thread, posted just before new.

Mid 20s here, never used any perfume/eau du toilette before, just used a ck euphoria deodorant stick.
Looking for something general / all purpose.

Terre d'Hermes
Bleu de Chanel
Acqua di Gio
Luna Rossa Carbon or Ocean

All these seem interesting, what do you guys rec?
Also do I get eau du toilette or perfume?

Terre d'Hermes, BdC and Luna rossa carbon are good year round i think, acqua di gio is more of a summer scent if i'm correct. Also it is the oldest one so maybe look at other frags from the line.
>Also do I get eau du toilette or perfume?
Depends, sometimes the EDT and parfume differ and can give off a slightly different scent so it is best to try all versions and determine based on that.

Bleu and Gio are both safe choices, have both of them.
As for Bleu get the EdP. Gio you should see what you like most, Gio EdT, Profumo or Profondo.
Profumo is usually rated best but in blind tests Profondo performs better, while both can be polarizing. Gio EdT is the inoffensive safe and cheaper choice.
Go to a store and try these frags but keep in mind you can go "blind" so maybe take testers with you.
Also maybe Dylan Blue is another alternative, similar crowd pleaser but less common.

All of those are good on their own, Bleu de Chanel EdP probably has the highest versatility and is also the most generic, although AdG is pretty close in popularity.
Luna Rossa Carbon has crowdpleaser DNA, TdH is more unique than the others, but more mature.
Really just test them all at a store or something, but if you just want to blind-buy, BdC EdP is the safest.

After trying on The Dreamer a second time and comparing it to Boss Bottled (for some reason it made me think of it so I'm comparing them) I'm realizing it doesn't smell generic at all as I originally thought. What's that note in The Dreamer that's quite strong, both fresh yet somehow very rounded and soft? Boss Bottled smells woody and "generic masculine" if that makes sense, The Dreamer is much more peculiar and specific but I can't put my hand on why

early 20s here, I'm kind of stuck as to what kind of scent should I be adding to my collection. I'm looking at trying to get into frags a bit deeper, here's what I have:

Prada L'Homme
Margiela Jazz Club / By The Fireplace
Guerlain L’Homme Ideal EdP
Dior Homme Cologne (the citrusy one)
Burberry London for Men

I think I'm sorted on most occasions, so I was either thinking an oud frag such as M7 by YSL, something with coffee notes such as Black Phantom which I had on test and I loved, or something completely different like Serpentine by CDG.
>>17063536
Psychedelic Love by Initio is great I had that on test, I think it's unisex though maybe

>> No.17063799

>>17063787
there are a lot of better oud fragrances out there, but it will take lots of sampling to find one that fits your skin as they tend to be the ones that change the most on skin.
black phantom is fucking great, genuinely love killian stuff they make lovely a/w scents, however wouldn't it slot into the same occassions that jazz club and l'homme ideal already do?
cdg are the house to look into when looking for GREEN shit for s/s

Guys fb marketplace is full of people selling frags. Most of them ar enot even used, sealed new, and in multiple numbers sometimes. All around 20-40, designer frags mind you. A new 100 ml Sauvage edt for 20.

I mean, it's a pretty good clone in that it smells very close to GIT but shittier, more artificial, more chemical. It's the same shit that Dua uses but at a lower concentration so it's not nearly as bad.

Is it good for a summer frag? Yes and no. It's very green and herbal. Good for cooler summer days. Once the temps go above 30degC then it's too rich. Then you want something lighter and more crisp.

There are a shit ton of those, especially in Turkey, they sell them for like 20 euros, my roommate bought sauvage that way. there are lots of these fake tester sites actually. they take advantage of the fact that people are less suspicious of the price and packaging because "it's a tester after all"
legit sites selling testers usually sell non-tester frags too. and legit testers are usually like 25% cheaper than the normal frag, half off at most. not fucking 10 times cheaper

Yeah, I'm a chemist, too, which is why I was wondering about this.
Different isomers having different attributes is a well known thing and I've read somewhere that the entire shtick of Molecule 01 was having only a single isomer (the best-smelling one or something). That would have made sense to me, because it's certainly possible.
Just as in Ibuprofen, where Dexibuprofen is the more active isomer, I thought something similar would/could exist in fragrance molecules.

Yeah you may not spot differences but here's the thing. If these can be sold for 35$ and be profitable god knows how much they cost to produce, and if they use some cheap or shitty materials it can be harmful to your skin. For all you know these can be mixed in a random place that does not care how they produce frags. They might smell the same and last an okay amount of time, but there is that risk of putting random shit on your skin.

LVMH is pretty much at the top. They are followed by IBM and ASML Holding, which both make sense, since they are building future technology, and then comes L'Oreal.
Dior and Hermes are in the mix as well, but at least Dior is mostly fashion-based, since their frag business is also owned by LVMH. So yeah, the largest market cap company in Europe is LVMH, that's how profitable that business is.
