guys i kind of want to get an Omega Ploprof.
did you know that omega made the original ploprof from 904L steel because it was so corrosion resistant?
and did you know, all Rolex steel models nowaydays are made by that material because of its superious corrosion and polishing qualities?

And then Omega made the new one in titanium because it's even more corrosion resistant and it makes the watch light enough to wear.

It's definitely a cool watch, very unique; however, 1.) try it on before you buy it because some people find the size uncomfortable and 2.) start diving because wearing something like that without being a diver is next-level larping (even moreso than wearing a Submariner or Seamaster 300)

I’m a repchad who wears Rolex’s every day. They are literally indistinguishable from the real thing. I’ve compared my rep hulk to my grandads real one and it’s literally the exact same. All of you acting like it’s an easy call out, get out of here. You’d have to break out a microscope and compare brush strokes if you wanted to find anything. I absolutely cannot understand why anyone would pay retail unless they wanted to resell the watch. Retail cucks are now on suicide watch, recovery is impossible.

When you are making enough money to not be a middle class Eric, you will know what kind of lifestyle you can afford - there is no scenario in which the outlook changes based on you "saving." Sometimes you will hit a massive stock vest/options opportunity, unexpected bonus, your investments make a big run, those are the times you look at luxury watches. The only time the concept of saving would even enter my mind is if I was trying to create a large runway to facilitate taking a huge risk like leaving my job to do a startup. If you are smart enough to make $100k/yr after tax there's no chance you are ever "saving" to buy a luxury watch, and if you make less than that you have no business buying a luxury watch.

No, it's just consooomerism. It blew up over the covid lockdown because people didn't spend money on going out or vacations. Now that people are traveling and eating out again, they won't be buying watches. Rolex will finally have inventory in about 2 years because first the grey market dealers have to stop finding people to gyp, and then they'll stop buying inventory. Then things will return to normal and watches won't matter anymore.

If your casio is good for you, then wear it. It doesn't affect anyone except you. That's why I wear my Citizen and am happy.

Here was my concern regarding the white gold; while there are reports that this watch is supposed to last 40 years, I can't guarantee that, and the white gold version is a little more than double the price of the titanium ones. While it's more 'choice', it's not my ideal for this watch even though I can't fault the design and combination of materials (the ivory dial on gold looks perfect, of course). Also, the bracelet really is a winner here. It's full titanium, and light as a feather, so ideal for my purposes. Citizen started putting the 0100 in other watches in their lineup this past year or two, so there may be more options, and all of them are about 2/3rds the price of the original release.

f91ws are definitely convenient; I've never been one to wear watches when I work out though, but I get your meaning. For a time I had one of those fitbits, and it was great for when I was running outside, but admittedly I haven't had time to do so for well over a few years now. Such is life.

Citizen has a HUGE lineup...to the point where I don't think anyone really knows what they have. There are dozens of ecodrive dress watches...they have a rectangular Cartier Tank look-a-like that I thought about getting years ago to satisfy the rectangular watch itch. But that's changed too....after experiencing a Reverso for a bit, I've decided that it's just not right on my wrist. So that's that...lol

The guy is ex-military and a survivalist, so I assume it's some sort of watch that would be popular with military types. It isn't a blackout watch, it looks to be gunmetal gray including the dial. Case and band aren't right for something like a Luminox. It also looks like it has two crowns.
It isn't some grail I'm chasing but it's become an itch I can't scratch trying to figure out wtf it is. Until I can find a better picture this is the best I've got.

To add to this, to-the-second autism is a phase most people new to mechanical watches get into quickly and, just as quickly, fall out of. (Unless they're terminally autistic)
Quite simply, no one really needs to know time down to the second or even the minute in their daily lives. Think about how people answer when you ask them the time (and they don't read off what's on their phone)
>About quarter-past
>A little after 10
>Almost half-past

Those people who actually do need timing down to the fraction of a second typically have high-precision timers at their workstations and don't rely on a wristwatch.

I never use the light on my Mudman and I've been running the same battery in it for over 13 years.

About half the posts in the general are ADs trying (and failing) to convince people not to buy reps. Another 30% are people that actually fell for marketing and are whipped up in a consoomer frenzy. Without all that going on, if the thread was just educated/well adjusted people posting, it would be slow and just about reps (the only thing anyone with brains would buy along with GShocks and Casios).

That is a terrible argument. With japs you know what you're getting: a working product that matches the cost. There are good chink homages but you are gambling on the company and the quality of the watches. That is why microbrands exist, they take chinese copies and add a smidgen of QC backed by a known entity.

No idea really, but this isn't the kind of watch that would be popular with outdoors/survivalist/military types, at all. It's big and chunky, with big buttons/crowns and a heavy steel bracelet, plus this show is kind of a joke, so it doesn't really fit in this category.

At least you can be sure this is no Casio, Timex, Citizen or Seiko. I'm guessing this is some fashion watch of some kind. Guy's name is Russell Acord, there's plenty pictures of him albeit none of his wrist, but there's hope of finding it.

I don't care about the show, just saw the watch and couldn't identify it. At first it looked like a blackout watch, maybe a luminox or something with some wear and tear. But it's definitely not a regular tacticool watch. And if its a fashion watch you'd think it would be easy to ID, but it isn't a Diesel or something like that even though it's a large case watch.

Seriously though, what's the appeal to Girard Perregaux? Who buy them?
They're asking $9k for pic related, a 40mm "dress" watch with the most boring design. Why buy that instead of a JLC ultra thin? At least you'd get a JLC.
Their flagship watch is a grotesque copy of the Royal Oak and the Nautilus (literally the dial of the RO and the bracelet of the Nautilus... they're not even trying).
