Yeah the only problem is that they're 10 times more expensive than they should be. If you had Rolex money why would you get some random Jap watch? And if you had money for 5 Rolexes so that you can get 4 Rolexes and one Minase, why wouldn't you just get one Lange.

I was an owner of the original Monta ocean king a few years ago, I loved the eterna movement, and the older case and dial layout. From my experience and also in talking with other owners of the current generation there seems to be two camps when it comes to the ocean king- everyone agrees the execution is top notch. Very high level of detail and finesse. Where people get spit is what happens after one month. Some never want to look at another watch and are completely content, and the others get tempted to go mainstream luxury and buy a Black Bay or Seamaster. At that point they would have preferred to buy the mainstream luxury right off the bat as opposed to buying then flipping the Monta. You get less of that with Oris, Rado, Mido, CW, Sinn, etc. as they feel more like mid level watches and are usually much cheaper to come by. Closer to the low 1000s than the high 1000s. Monta is unique as it feels like a segway between mid level and luxury if that makes sense and not quite the mid level like the ones I mentioned here.

Seiko Monster or Turtle?

I only have a Vostok and don't plan to buy another watch for a very long, my budget is only $300. My wrist is definitely big enough for either but I'm worried that I'd end up getting tired of the weight of the fat ass Turtle.

2nd gen Monster is incredible and you should have at least 5 versions of it. Problem is, they are so sought after nowadays that the price has gone up considerably. What was once a $200 watch is now being sold for $450+ on eBay and watch forums. The Turtle can still be had for $200, though.

BEVERLY HILLS AD ROBBED OF $500,000 RICHARD MILLE WATCH IN ARMED ROBBERY

>Jeweler Shay Belhassen had just shown a client some watches at his new Beverly Hills showroom and sat down at the posh Il Pastaio restaurant across the street Thursday when he locked eyes with three guys in hoodies coming his way.
>“One of them ran and pulled a gun from his jacket pocket, grabbed me from the back of my chair, choking me and putting a gun to my head,” Belhassen said in an interview with The Times on Friday morning. “His two friends — one of them is yanking my hand and the other is yanking at my watch.”
>Belhassen said instinct kicked in from there.
>“I grabbed the gun with both my hands and fought them to the ground,” he said. “At the end of the fight I ended up with the gun, and they ran away.”
>The gun went off in the scuffle, the bullet grazing a woman dining at the restaurant. A second person suffered a minor injury and some planters were smashed. Police swarmed the area, taping it off as witnesses and onlookers gawked.

>Belhassen said he was left bruised — and angry. Gone was his rare, high-end watch: a rose gold Richard Mille RM 11-03 Flyback Chronograph, a watch popular with celebrities and a piece Belhassen estimated is worth $500,000.

>Belhassen said he is now offering a $50,000 reward for the return of the watch. He doubts it will hit the market quickly, in part because his robbery in the heart of Beverly Hills caught so much attention.

I don't know about Citizen specifically but it's pretty standard practice to get a discount from an AD. How much of a discount depends on the brand, AD, and time of the month. ADs know that if they don't give you a decent discount you'll just go buy the watch grey market which they definitely do not want.

Hope this retard had watch insurance. I can't imagine there are all that many of those watches around. Thieves will probably sell it to a fence for 20% of what it's worth and the fence will move it along to a shady dealer or individual for 50% of what it's worth, then the poor sap last in line will eventually send it in for service and have it seized by RM and get investigated by the cops for years.

If you're a watchdealer, why would you walk around wearing merchandise worth half a million bucks in LA of all places?

I like the Seiko LX diver better, personally.

>> No.16015622

Grand Seiko SBGZ003 is the very first GS I actually really love. Not in the I really think it is pretty but in the "I'm gonna marry that woman" sense. The price is $57k. If it had been a Patek or Lange etc I would either be wearing one or waiting on one, as it stands it is ~25k more than I would spend on it. Brand positioning had everything to do with that non-purchase.

I am comfortable outside a brand's general price range but that has a limit. I do own a Monaco but not the SBGZ003. I do judge watches individually but there is a limit, I wouldn't buy a Volkswagen Phaeton nor would I buy a $6k Seiko diver or a $6k Hamilton unless either of the watches was extremely special.

In addition to the other watches suggested to you, you should also consider the Citizen PMD56-2952. It's an excellent modern pilots watch, with the only downsides being the need to emulate the Japanese radio atomic sync frequency (easy to do these days) and the end-link to lug fitment not being the tightest. I bought one recently and I'm really enjoying it a lot.

Expensive model of the lower brand - you will forever have to convince yourself and other people that the extra money is worth it for the premium build, design quality etc etc. even if it's a Grand Seiko or a Longines or what have you. More practically, when you sell it used, that premium you paid won't survive and you'll take a BIG hit on the resale price.

Cheapest model of a higher brand - everyone recognises this as an "entry level piece" into the more prestigious brands. But no one is going to question the provenance of a watch that is a Patek or a Rolex. The name alone trumps all the names of brands below them, regardless of how fancy or technically superior a model those lower brands produce.

It basically has it all, it's a chrono, it has a tourbillon, it's skeletonized, has the autism window on the back, it's black, a tachy bezel which I love, and it's from a brand that's not Rolex but regular people still know it and respect it. They made the OPs 41 to stop it competing with the 39mm exp, I think they literally had the same movement too, just different clasps, crowns, bezels and dials. They don't want any competition within their catalogue. Its why the GMT is moving to jubilee with no black option and the seamaster keeps getting bigger. If anything the exp2 is due for a replacement this year with the anniversary and all. I reckon for the exp1 they will update the movement and not change anything else. no, its actually pretty bad for a poorfag, the value is not there for what is a $75 watch, and value is what matters a lot when each dollar counts. The size is mediocre, the WR is mediocre, the movement is very mediocre. Its strongest selling point is its looks. But consider that you can get a gshock(the ultimate outdoors watch) or the casio duro for $50; a vostok amphibia for the same amount; adding another $25 gets you the escapement time flieger or the quartz version for the san martin, both with extremely good stats--

And what is worse is that its not even steel, but plated brass.. Your sweat will actually start to corrode into the case, for what is an "outdoors" watch thats p bad. If you still want a timex you should at least look at the timex mk1 or find one thats actual stainless steel.

If you want to take it up a notch and go totally gold (and be seen for it), why not add extra rose gold beaded bracelet accessories to an Oyster Perpetual Sky-Dweller Rose Gold Rolex? It brings out the colour beautifully and creates a statement, don’t you agree??

Leather dies in water and sweat, a nato doesnt. It cannot be washed, a nato can. A nato is also much more secure. A nato is much cheaper to manufacture and more realistic for an army to opt for. It is the superior choice and gives a gritty realness that leather-LARP cannot.
