Need an opinion on a briefcase/workbag

I want a nice leather briefcase for when we go back to the office and am debating on the style to go for.

I love the look of this Farragamo briefcase (pic related). It has that classic briefcase feel that gives off the "I'm going to work" vibe while looking very professional yet sleek.

However, I worry that it is so far in the direction of a "professional work bag" that it would look out of place if I slung it over my shoulder to go to a coffee shop or a friend's place.

Other options would be one of their other bags, or a prada briefcase. They have a more casual look about them yet they would not be out of place in any office setting.

case in point, i spent £30 the other day on 5 things i wouldnt mind trying from decent enough brands, because ebay is full of people who just bulk buy charity shit and sell it for next to nothing regardless of actual quality, unless its got a big name on it like RL or superdry or some gay shit.

pic related is a pair of sam windsor cords for £5, theyll want a wash and an iron but it lets me see if i want this sort of colour in my wardrobe here. got those along with linen pants to try, a harrington for the bf, a pair of brown chinos for him, and a linen blue shirt. best bit is if theyre fucked or they dont match description you will probably get them for free. used is highly underrated desu.

Are ratchet belts effay? I'm just now getting into menswear and trying to avoid buying real leather for ethical reasons, does this belt look effay to you guys? https://slidebelts.com/products/classic-black-belt

No. Switch to suspenders if you can't wear leather for silly, short-sighted reasons.

Has anyone had experience tailoring SuitSupply jackets ? Is there enough fabric to widen it ? Mine looks like one the right.

Where would you wear that outfit?

For me, this looks acceptable if you'd go to a bar or something in a warm climate.

But then again, the colors and shoes do not say summer to me. More line autumn or spring.

And for autumn and spring, the amount of showing chest is off. Gives macho/douche show off vibes, not sprezz vibes.

Anywho, it's just my opinion. For this colder look, unless you're not going to a bar, I'd think about how you make the shirt look with those brown colors. Maybe consider buttoning up a bit.

Chest is hard to widen, imo. Can't tell you about suit supply, though

Has anyone else noticed how young people are buying really shitty looking suits? Thin lapels, thin ties, colours that are too bright, etc. It's so common that it seems to be the trend now, so it's becoming harder to find good suits and ties at affordable prices that look 'normal', such as the kind of suits politicians wear.

No problem with that.
Politicians very often don't know how to dress, except very high rank ones who have teams of stylists who do it for them.

I like the idea of a reconciliation between /tip/ and /sprezz/, but I think the general that accomplishes that needs a different name. Dressing up is good, but /menswear/ doesn’t really encompass the more casual sides of ivy and sprezz style. Where do I go if I want to post white sneakers, khakis, and a Aran sweater; or espadrilles, Gurkhas, and a linen shirt? Those fits don’t really fall under the /menswear/ category, though it would be nice to have a general that encompasses those styles

For anyone looking for legitimately high-rise casual pants, I highly recommend Bronson Repro. They have several models of khakis and Gurkhas that are actually high rise (I’m 6’0” and their 1942 model khakis sit right at my belly button) with a wide fit. They’re not tapered at all, but a tailor can taper them if that’s what you want. They’re like $80 but they’re 100% cotton and they go on sale every once in a while. I but all of my khakis from them.

If you can’t find Bronson Repros on sale but really want something high rise, you might be able to find some other WWII reproduction khakis on sale for a better price. A flood of military surplus khakis after WWII are what originally kicked off the trad/ivy/prep khaki pants trend, so those things are about as /tip/ as you can get.

I’m glad someone else noticed this. I’m sick of seeing politicians wearing medium blue suits and bright red ties. I’m glad that they’re branching out a little from the standard navy/charcoal suit, but I wish they’d be a little more creative.

That’s because your conception of “menswear” is too narrow in addition to placing too much weight on labels.

I’m a /tipper/ too and in assure you I don’t place much weight on labels. Maybe my conception of /menswear/ is too narrow, but I think most people have the same conception. I think when most people think /menswear/, they think of suits and blazers. Whether right or wrong, that’s the perception, and that perception might discourage the sharing of casual fits
