Man I had a random sample of this from a Luckyscent order but I was influenced by a couple people here who said it's disgusting trash for pajeets so I never smelled it and I threw it in with a big sample lot I sold on eBay. I've since heard some very good things about it both on here and on YouTube, Basenotes, etc. so I think I'm going to order another sample.

>I have never been fond of all-natural perfumery, for two reasons: 1- Constraints in art are fruitful only if they channel creativity to give results pleasing to the senses, e.g. rhyme, modal harmony etc. The all-natural constraint is not productive: no all-natural perfume has ever been as good as the best natural-aromachemical ones*. 2- My definition of Nature includes Organic Chemistry and all who sail in her. This said, I find Anna Zworykina‘ fragrances very impressive indeed, and largely immune from the mushiness of most natural perfumery. Wisely, she seems to stick to classical forms and puts her skill into making them work optimally. Verdigris, for example, is a resplendent, stonking chypre. You can clearly smell the superb bergamot, cistus and oakmoss singing in harmony. Young Cossack (in Russia Cossacks have a more positive reputation than abroad) is a lovely animalic hay-tonka accord that would make a wonderful masculine, with or without sabre and horse. Her Cuir de Russie is the most eccentric of that name I remember smelling, very floral and less smoky than the usual fare, with a strange and beautiful sweet-green drydown. In the end, empirical evidence prevails: these are perfumes that even a fan of synthetics like me would love to wear.

Dude, I used to think like you years ago, when i was in high school i was actively looking for "shaving cream and lemon" scents, that i remebered from when i was a kid, that adults used to wear. Believeme, a lot of girls (and people in general) associate vetiver with dirt, incense with church, citrus with cleanin products, barbershop scents with granpas. I am not against vanilla now, though i used to be. I admit that my taste was influence by what girls like, no shame in that. A vanilla heavy scent is not the most masculine scent but for a young guy today it's safer than a classic barbershop. Also, la vie e belle, libre are not the most feminine scent for the ladies, so it's not fair to compare them with the sweetest mens scents. Check out the coconut and candy bombs for women, thats the equivalent of eros, 1 million. Though ultra male can pass as a female fragrance as it is, i agree. Not so much with eros, the first few hours are quite minty, a girl should not smell like that.

I made the mistake of smelling it up really close. Initial minutes smelled like a literal cat (or civet) peed on some very expensive fur coat after the old lady who has worn it got soaked in the rain on her way home from some fancy gala event. I’m not a super fan of Aventus but I definitely don’t think it smells cheap. Perhaps how ubiquitous it has become and all the clones/car air fresheners etc have made you feel this way? It’s really strange to see people call it generic. I remember when I first smelled aventus in a department store, I didn’t like it at all but I also thought it was fucking mad smelling (in maybe 2010, all I knew at the time was the ‘sport’ fragrances which were popping at the time).

Probably it depends where you live but in UK there are fragrant sticks, candles, laundry detergents and car refreshers cloning Aventus. Fuck, I think I even read about Benz (or BMW, I don't remember) offers an Aventus clone as one of the generic fragrance choices for the built-in air refresher when buying a new car.

>> No.16006717

>>16004313
I've tried my sample of this a couple times, now, and it definitely grew on me. Very solid scent. The opening three me off a bit as I only really got the spicy and woody notes with none of the fruit that is in it (though I may just not be familiar with those notes enough to recognize them). The drydown after about 45 min to an hour, though, this fragrance really shined and the vanilla creeped up nicely as well as some of the other notes, which I assume are the fruits and others. My first time with anything like it and it was a good experience with a solid fragrance. Still contemplating a full bottle

Perhaps you can and there are girls attracted to very sweet vanilla scents on guys. the vannila debate in a nutshell. This thread has seen worse but seriously, i'm sure most people on here realize vanilla is that masculine. you sound like it's 1997 and you're shocked that the new popular mens fragrance le male has a big dose of vanilla, something only female fragrances had before. Wearing a fragrance that just has vanilla in it is in your opinion not manly enough,
but judging a mans scent is enough for you to completely dismiss any quality he has and compare him to a snapback-wearing kid?
I don’t know pal. To me, giving a fragrance so much leverage in the judgment of the masculinity of another male is actually gayer than wearing a girls deodorant marketed by Britney Spears or some shit.
I mean, I get that wearing skinny jeans and Ultramale isn’t quite where it’s at when it comes to masculinity but man you really are on another level of conservatism.

I think it depends on the vanilla. Something like Straight to Heaven is a vanilla scent, but not sweet and I’d call it pretty masculine. Eros straight-up smells like candy. YMCA is playing on a loop on the room’s sound system, a disco ball hangs from the ceiling, a large TV displays episodes of RuPaul’s Drag Race.
